      But 4 seconds is still a lot....
      I once lapped 4 seconds slower than a World Superstock 600 rider who was on the same trackday. I couldn't keep up with him, not even close, because he gapped a couple of tenths every single corner. 4 seconds per lap in a 20 lap race means a 80 second gap.
      Don't get me wrong, he is a very fast rider, faster than me for sure, but 4 seconds faster is still another league, although it doesn't seem much. And at this level it's not easy to get any faster.

    He's exactly right. For example at 12:40, your entry is too tight and you're carrying way too much speed into the corner. As a result you have to slow down a lot in order to hit the apex. Because of this your corner exit is also slow. Anyway, judging from the video where he passes you i can tell his bike either has more power or he's hitting the throttle much earlier than you. The difference in acceleration is massive.

    I think a lot of this video is fairly correct in it’s analysis but you are off the mark with you comparison to Marquez and foot position.
    Firstly you have to consider the two different bikes, one is a purpose built race machine customised to the rider on slicks and the other is a street bike with street tyres, this effects how you ride the bike. Marquez is carrying way more lean angle and has a bike customised to allow him to have his body further off the bike while still being able to anchor himself to the tank with his outside leg, you should be supporting yourself with the outside leg not the inside by pressing your knee into the scallop of the tank, pushing on the outside peg with the ball of your foot. Marquez’s inside knee is actually much closer to the bike in this turn and with his body far off the seat he does not have to rotate his hips and leg to get his knee down, if you watch racers closely you will see they don’t actually get their knee down until they get to quite high lean angles.
    The big mistake people make with street bikes on the track is chasing the knee down, on a street bike you cannot and should not have your butt as far off the seat as the bike is not designed in such a way to allow you to have proper anchoring on the tank with your outside knee. When you get your butt too far off the bike your hips and spine end up pointed back towards the bike rather than into the corner, you can see this body position at 12:25 in the video just as you exit the corner before you start to move back onto the bike. This body position means you have to rotate your inside leg much further around to get you knee down and this causes your heel to rotate back towards the bike.
    The solution is to actually not get you butt so far off the seat, your hips will be in line with the bike and you won’t have to push your leg out so far to get your knee down at the same lean angle, this will also mean your spine will be pointing into the corner and you will not have to be looking over your shoulder into the corner.
    My suggestion is just moving your butt back onto the seat a little bit, 2-5cm less off the seat can make a massive difference to your overall body position.

    • @AyDeeRox
      @AyDeeRox Před 4 lety

      Also, you are getting back onto the bike too early on the exit of corners, you should keep your body off the bike until you get it back upright, by moving back onto the bike too early you make it unstable on corner exit and an unstable bike will also tend to wheelie on exit.
