- For the first time in 2022 we have the LEGO Star Wars AT-ST based on Hoth (Star Wars Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back)! We have a snow-speckled Chewbacca an amazing AT-ST Driver, and a Hoth Rebel Trooper. The Probe Droid is the best figure-scale version to date. The Hoth AT-ST doesn't bring any new features to the table however the aesthetic for it is significantly changed from older LEGO Star Wars AT-ST sets!

I actually love how different this at-st is from the rest of the ones released by LEGO. It’s a pure episode 5 At-st and that’s awesome
Thats exactly what i thought it looks awesome!! The Best lego set ive seen for under $100 in almost 2 years
@@ChaoticMartian what's the previous best set in your opinion?
@@child3219 75237
@@ChaoticMartian that's a goated one ngl. The attention to detail on that TIE
@@child3219 lmao that was such a bad tie
So the Endor AT-ST is a "Chicken Walker" while the Hoth variant is an "Owl Walker"
I remember the AT-ST from Empire Strikes Back being called a Chicken Walker. I was seven years old when that came out.
@@spencer1973 me too
I really wish Lego could get their AT-STs to fit two figures in tandem, but other than that I really quite like this set. It looks fantastic, and the build was honestly quite clever.
Yea if they did that I would insta buy, hands down. The more figures I can fit in, the better lol
i modified mine and it fits 2
This feels like it was designed as a companion set to the UCS AT-AT with the amount of detail and scale
I went to a Lego store the other day and they had this on display with the UCS at at
Even with the updated ATAT 2020 version
I think it must be. I considered it might be for the 2020 ATAT, but we really haven’t gotten much rebel Hoth stuff. Really hope they come out with a snowspeeder build in 2024 and maybe a Hoth trench with a turret so I can further flesh out my “Battle of Hoth” section of my shelf.
My little brother is obsessed with his and it fell down last night. I’m surprising him by fixing it before he comes back from school but I knew nothing about it, your showcase as allowed me to analyse it and figure out where’s the bits go thank you so much for taking the time to record this!! This video has helped make a little boys day
I might get it for the probe droid alone, this thing looks awesome.
As I said before I only care if it's a faithful, lore accurate model and it really is, rooftop aside.
Unlike the regular ATST which was an all round walker good for any combat role aside of AA the Hoth variant had one role to fulfill- check if the snowy ground is safe for AT AT to walk on. Therefore it sacrificed space inside for advanced sensors pretty much everywhere. It's legs were also structurally weaker due to feet sensor cables going through the inside of the legs.
And yes most of the lore is fanmade in the case of this vehicle but I love it, can't decide if I want 1 or 2.
Definitely picking this up for the probe droid. It will look great nestled up to the 18+ version.
oh, that's cool, I never knew any of that lore, thank you!
Or maybe they weren't satisfied with the walker model they used for the battle of Hoth and switched it with another one for Endor
@@scoutman66 I mean, yeah, maybe that was the case from moviemaking perspective. If you wanna know I can ask around, I know people at ILM and they can dig up some archives. Or ask EC Henry. I'm only talking lore, fanmade that got canonized most likely in this case, I don't recall hoth atst info from my lore books but I can double check as well.
kinda lame if you only care about accuracy in lego, not even ucs
The next frontier that lego AT-ST's need to conquer is the legs moving out. In universe, the AT-ST'S are very mobile, but the lego ones have always just had the legs moving back. How cool would it be to have a lego AT-ST be able to have the same level of mobility as the vehicle in universe. It'll be a difficult engineering challenge, but it would definitely be worth it.
Agreed, their hip joints connect closer to the rear of the walker and they go out towards to the head, with another joint connecting to the main "chicken leg"
Indeed, indeed. But lego won't ever make that. You see, it's a toy. It has to be sturdy enough, especially the legs. But as an adult (or for older children) set, it could be done
In the new Skywalker Saga game they made an entirely new ATST model from scratch that uses ball joints, it makes the legs feet and hips move more like an actual ATST, unfortunately it would be impossible to do in real life since ball joints probably can't support the head and it would easily fall over, or ball joints could go into weird positions like the head being upside down if you don't put it in a perfect position to where the ball joints don't fall over.
Lego will make it like this I'm sure. Here's my theory, there are only so many ways to redesign a set so as to justify releasing it again. Lego I'm sure knows the legs could use some more work, but they will put it off until the next AT-ST or so. Then perhaps change some cosmetic things, add a second seat for accuracy, maybe a coffee mug spot, ect. Lego purposely makes bad/subpar/inaccurate sets. They can't just make a perfect walker because the next one will either be worse, the same, or the same with more cosmetic things. Just a theory of course.
8:07 Notice how he build that part correctly but put the side weapon in a wrong way.
Oh shoot, fixed it on mine now.
I noticed to 😂
Still looks cool though
This is a great set. I honestly like it more than the normal AT-ST, I don’t know why
It might be because the legs are longer and the head is smaller so it has more appealing proportions as opposed to the regular at-st which has shorter legs and a significantly bigger head. At least, that's my reason for liking it
I think it seems a lot more accurate then the regular at st. By that I mean this one looks more like a hoth at st then the other sets looked like there counterparts
Same here.
I have both and like them a lot. It was on sale for $40 at Walmart, so why not buy it? Walkers are a great addition to anyone's army. My only criticism is that the side mounted weapons don't have a much stronger connection. And maybe in the future, Lego can make room for a second seat.
@@NoobToobJamarMemes When building it they would fall of alot the connections are quite weak but either from that i love the set
When I saw this in stores first I was like holy crap, they finally made a perfect at-st design and didn’t even realize it was different than the Endor one.
This set has great chewbacca minfig imo
Cum chewbacca
Dandruff Chewbacca
@@kx_3364 PLEASEEE💀💀💀💀
Yea i love the stut shooter
@@kx_3364 ☠️
This is probably my favourite atst set. The figures are good and I think the more harsh look of the atst is great, would've liked the eye holes but i get that for accuracy they dont have them although they could have just added them because you can close them if you want.
I like that LEGO is trying a new design for a very old set style
I personally think we should've gotten some backpacks for that accessory hoth pack
Fun fact: The Imperial At-st can actually work by itself without a pilot thanks to the computers inside being able to use auto pilot so it can control it and move it.
Wow i dint know that
The fact that we get a screen accurate AT-ST to go alongside the closest to screen accurate AT-AT is just nice. Like all we need is for someone to make an AT-AT landing barge and a UCS style Imperial Juggernaut and we can have the “blizzard force landing on Hoth” MOC
Is it just me that prefers the look of this to a normal atst
Me too
I like it more too. I think it has something to do with the proportions of the legs and head
Same here, though might be due to nostalgic preference for the original Kenner AT-ST which was from Empire. Always preferred this look
This was the first atst we saw in Star Wars, so it looks better imo
I like to think of the explosion in the manual as the sound when you build something in a lego game
Exactly what I thought
Same here
Personally I thought the previous AT ST's were ugly because they were so square. If anything, this model is more accurate than the 2016 model.
All lego AT ST's should have their face plate angled like that and have the side plates sticking out a bit in the back. Hopefully all future lego AT ST's are built this way.
I’m definitely going to get this set, never bought any of the older versions but this one looks so good I think, I do wish it had an extra figure like a snow trooper, or han, etc I think it would round it up nicely but still an easy 9/10 for me
Finally more 2022 reviews!
I love how they made a huge deal about switching to paper bags in the 2022 sets and they literally didn't
I am really excited about this set thanks for the awesome review as always!
If this AT-ST was considered specifically designed for snow-type environments. You could see the legs being longer to accommodate for deep snow. Having wider feet would also give a snowshoe effect and help with stability. But, I could just be over-thinking it.
I like this version a lot more than the old one 🤷♂️
Back in January this was the first set I bought in over 40 years, I love it. Two months later I bought half a dozen micro-fightes/polybag and today I started om an ATAT walker. I plan to slowly work myself up to ( and save for) the UCS ATAT, UCS Millennium falcon and the UCS Star Destroyer
The feet have a clip on the front, so I used this so that I can pose it as if it is running, it leans over to one side a little which adds to the effect. I just added a clip to the ground by the back foot so it holds it well enough for a MOC.
In a set like an AT-ST, articulation is everything. The legs in this should be able to move in all kind of ways so it is playable.
The snow trooper battle pack, at-st, rebel minifig pack, and white baseplate is a pretty cool and affordable battle scene. Just waiting for a snowspeeder still.
Good review Ryan. Set looks great. Unfortunatly clearly visable blue pins, but not as many as in the Rogue one version. Anyhow, i wish you and all your viewers all the best for 2022. Dont step on any bricks bare feeted.
The AT-ST also doubles as the UCS AT-AT because all we really remember is a grey walker
The ah imperial AT ST is a set from the prequel trilogy
@@shrekussyGoat Then it would only have one Mas produced fig
Can’t wait for the day when nobody makes a comment with this exact format on an mandr video. Idk if it will ever happen though
@@wadewilson3296 why? What’s wrong with it?
@@shrekussyGoat it was kinda funny the first few times, but people comment it on every video now, and it got old fast lol
I definitely will be picking it up. Loving all of the hoth sets. Weaponry does not have a 'd' in it btw.
Bro it's $50 😵😵😵 just get 500 Burger King nuggets

I wish they released the probe droid build as a polybag and or with the full size probe droid.
Best looking AT-ST
I know I'm a bit late, but I just put mine together, and rewatched this for the heck of it. I noticed you have the right side cannon on backwards. The little stud end should be what connects to the side mount. The big one is actually the cannon.
they nailed the look of the prop that the set is based on.
Best yet, love it 🥰
You know what, I think I actually prefer this 'uglier' look. Gonna look great next to the 2020 AT-AT. Thanks for another excellent review!
How funny, I JUST got a 2nd hand 2016 AT-ST in the post today. Love it to pieces.
This is one of the best looking new sets I've seen.
Just ordered this set, honestly cant wait!
Really nice AT-ST, I got 3 to put with my AT-AT 75313 on display, and the 75320 snow troopers. something to build, now we in lockdown in the Netherlands.
I think it’s kinda neat they have that explosion effect for completing a build cause like in the games for example Lego Star Wars the complete saga building anything to completion would make this big effect and sound
Keep up with the great work ❤
Cant believe i missed this set it looks amazing
Found this at Kohl's yesterday. Enjoyed the build process a little bit more compared to the AT-ST Raider.
I have the rogue one at st and the at st raider. At st walkers are my favorite and I am trying to collect every at st model that Lego has created. Long time fan love the channel
Except the first order at st
I feel that the head of this at-st with the legs of the rogue one walker would be perfection.
The shape of it reminds me more of the old republic walkers. I think with some mods, you can probably turn this into one of those older walkers.
The additional pieces on the feet might be to increase the weight and stability
I really like this design honestly
Omg this is probably my personal favorite
A very nice set! Love the probe droid build! I built this earlier on and it was awesome! 👍
The face for the rebel trooper is a really good omega face
Lego should put that chewbacca in the next advent calendar for a winter effect
I built this at my grandparents house and it survived a 14 hour road trip back home and even the box look great still
Chewbacca needs to buy some head and shoulders 😂
🤨🤨
Oh nvm you meant the shampoo
@@mccoolio2867 😂😭
I remember using this AT-ST in the battlefront game on the PSP on Hoth…. The smaller gun on the right it’s a grenade or rocket pod I believe
I think that would have been the ROTJ AT-ST. Most games use that model since it's the one most people know about, and there's more reference pictures for making one in game. And these days some times they get to go to Lucasfilm Archives, and I think they've still got one or two AT-ST from filming ROTJ. I think, don't quote me on that. I believe the only games to use the ESB AT-ST, are the Dark Forces and Jedi Knight series.
Got two of these today on clearance at target for 50$! Pretty awesome.
Love your videos
Tbh this walker just has a lot more detail than the others but the other ones are still such good models
Great Review, Dude!
This AT-ST isn't ugly to me. I like it!
Big fan. Will look nice next to my Snowspeeder
I will get this once Target drops the price! When I bought the Mandalorian one(72254) I bought it with I think a $10 price drop. To me it might be the best one that was released, even though the maroon color scheme is not too appealing to me. With this newer one, gonna have to make some custom adjustments like giving the back of the feet better support, maybe working on the edges of the head(to make it look proportionate) and doing something different with the eyelids. I think the piece count is deceptive for the price per piece ratio. The space inside the head has been minimized and the head hatch looks vanilla with no sticker for detail and the fact that it doesn't open like someone is coming out from underneath the hatch. The Hoth like idea behind is something I wanted, but the details is a bit lacking.
Very accurate. I love it.
This I need now !!
I got this early too! This set was really fun to build and I’m actually surprised target let me buy it early.
Btw this was actually in the movie it can be seen for 2 seconds walking forward past a close up on a walker
I appreciate when sets have clips or open spaces for the minifigures' accessories.
A good and proper TESB-style AT-ST built for colder environments.
I'm getting this tomorrow!!!
this atst looks incredible in my opinion i would love to get it
Can’t wait to display a couple of these next to my UCS at at !!!!!
Cool, product review season is back.
I got this set yesterday and I LOVE ITT
The way the cockpit goes together it can be made to look like the one bb8 pilots
That little probe droid! Might tip the scales on getting this set.
I just noticed that one of the side weapons on the hoth at-st mandr built is applied wrong : D
I am really liking the look of my display for the UCS AT-AT and this set would complement it so well though originally I didn't like the look and didnt get it I will definatly pick this up next time I go to the lego store
Am I the only one who sees the little "explosion" every time you complete a section and imagine the sound you get when you build something in a lego game
Just started building this. I think the Chewbacca is my overall favorite, I was so damn excited when I seen the snow on him through the bag 😂
Ima buy this
I like how it looks more streamlined. It would probably work better on windy hoth
At least this one has a head
Thanks, the most in depth review I have seen.
I think they should have let us play around with "eye" shields and open and close them.
Eye think the eyedea was that Hoth was too damn cold for them to be open.
@@spencer1973 eye see what you did there
From its Design u could make out of it a rebel version that got found by the rebels got repairt by them with more colour and weapons
I think chewbacca was included so that kids could sort of recreate the scene from rotj where chewbacca pilots an at-st but he can so it on hoth
I just noticed that you put the grenade launchers on backwards, great video and cool set
This is a nice looking set
This set is so cool
Canon camera has really upped the production quality of your reviews, but may I suggest a little something to further improve: shooting Manual. I notice the brightness changes between scenes/when you zoom in. This can be fixed easily by locking shutter speed/aperture and ISO. Auto white balance really isn't a big problem. I'd lock it to a certain setting but it's not super important.
this is amazing
thanks for the video, can you do a comparison with all three versions of the at st
I think you forgot the end on the right hand grenade launcher. I love this set
I JUST BOUGHT THIS AND ITS COMING IN TO DAYS
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I love the at-st from hoth set it different
I've been building a moc hoth battle diorama, and while this won't fit it, I'm definitely getting this since it's 32 pounds on Amazon at the moment, looks like a great display piece.
Empire Strikes Back is such a great movie that it didn't need too much tweaking for its special edition. But I'd like to have seen another scene with the AT-ST, to see if it stood up to cannon fire. That drawing where a rebel on a tauntaun is fleeing the walkers would have been good. Finally, snowtroopers outside, since we first see them when Vader breaks into the command center.
PS: A month or so ago someone was saying it wasn't an AT-ST on Hoth, but something else. LOL. When you see this, you'll know you were wrong, buddy!
