I'm a massive football fan and a proud Englishman ! But Diego Armando Maradona was by far the best to ever play the game and in my opinion it's not even close
Agree. I was in Culiacan, Mexico afew years back when Diego was managing their 2nd Division team and stayed at the hotel that he was living in. My luck, they had an away match and he wasn't around. All the employees said he was brilliant and the waiters at a restaurant across the street said he could be brilliant or dismissive at worst. Unfortunately, thats the closest I got to the man. The Netflix series on him in Mexico is great watch.
@@claudiovallone9217 Deberías investigar a tu héroe Messi, al mío también, y te garantizo que encontrarás que él piensa y cree las mismas cosas que Diego. Supongo que eres discípulo de la fascista Milei...
I agree (also an Englishman), he was a genius with the football. I've never seen any one person who can influence a games outcome more than Maradona, even with the great players of the modern game they don't come close!
Messi is supposed to be as good, ot even better than his fellow countryman.
@@gaskellr44 messi is a better player and (more important) a better person. We argentines prefer messi.
I think we have to wait for a very long time to see another genius footballer like Diego. The best ever.
We have indeed seen another genius and even greater, Messi
Yea I agree I don't think anyone will ever reach messis heights as a footballer
@@dannykay5536 no gaol in wc nockout before this wc where qatar and fifa help the clown with panalty and you compare him with goat god maraddonna lol imbeciles
So true, yes messi is the same type, but he could do what diego done on those parks with players smashing him with no protection from refs, take a shit team like napoli was at the time to glory, but the list goes on what he done, best player I have ever seen,1986 was the best ever a player played in any comp
@@ataau-rahman.sarwar3524 lol nice joke 3rd worl* jigolo
Maradona was light years ahead of anyone else.
Like Georgie Best, Diego got kicked black and blue every game, but still danced past world class defenders like they weren't even there.
Only Ronaldinho has ever come close to pure joyful football that Maradona excelled at.
Rest in peace Diego.
A true man of his people.

Great documentary. It was good to see another side to this genius. RIP Maradonna.......GOAT
I got goosebumps just watching this. RIP, Diego…😢😢😢
No human being can hate Maradona…He was massively and widely loved and respected..I still love him.. I shed tears throughout this interview…His honesty about his drug struggles floored me….GOD please, give him a place in heaven…He brought joy to so many people with his unparalleled talents…Rest on brother….
A cheating, woman beating drug addict. He can most certainly be hated.
I can hate the bunt and do. Not for the handball itself but his continual mockery of the idea that he was meant to feel any kind of remorse. Lineker total pussy too just sits there while his wankbuddy laughs in his face.
Gazza was the only player our country had maybe be than Diego
What about his fatherhood or lack off ??? Surly that shows his personality was closer to hand of God than his second goal
I watched the 86 quarter final with my father and grandfather. It was the most famous 10 mins of football I have ever witnessed.
I know the feeling - watched with my Dad - who walked out of the room at the end ! What an emotional, terrible game that was . I lost my dad less than a year later & I always remember the games I watched and went to with him - thanks Dad 👏🏽
Rest in peace Diego. We who lived and watched you in your prime will never forget you. The joy and excitement your play gave us will remain in your memory forever.
Love how maradona introduces gary to his mates.
Diego Maradona’s “hand of God” cheating goal was by far the most memorable moment in my history of being a football fan. However, I forgave him not long after because he was such a towering genius of a footballer and gave me such enormous pleasure watching him. He all but the 1986 World Cup for Argentina on his own and they would definitely have never have won it without him!
Miss you Maradona!! Thank you for the memories.
The greatest of the greatest in all sports. Football/soccer is the most played sport in the world. Maradonna was the greatest ever of the most played sport by miles and he won everything, mostly single handed.
The solo goal against England was the best in history
Today VAR would have ruled it out.
@FSMS we would have won 3-2 and not 4-2
To be fair, Fenwick could have easily tackled him, but stood there, because he'd been booked.
Maradona ran past him, and slotted it in. It was Terry Fenwick's fault, without a doubt. And he admits it too.
So, a great goal, but not the best ever.
Diego was the best player I've ever seen" every great has his demons " he's very honest in his interview with Gary, we'll never see the like of him again rip Diego
This is why i love youtube,2024 and still love watching the GOAT
Over the years I've been fortunate to witness some fantastic skill by some amazing players, Zidane Ronaldinho etc but diego is on a plateau alone. He was a joy to watch
Maradona is absolutely soccer icon
He cheated how is that an icon
Most iconic Sportsman ever, by a landslide.
no one come close to the * GOAT * Armando Diego Maradona.. ..period. end of story....!!!!
FIFA 1986...against england semi...all the proof u need.
** GENIUS..rip🕊️**
Well,.the world were blessed to testify the skills of Maradona...
At.the same Time, Gary ruled as one of.the Most respectful and letal forwader of.the world, along with Hugo Sánchez...
Well Gary Is such a gentleman!!!
No pude evitar emocionarme viendo este documental. Lineker es un señor, sin rencor, sencillo y cercano, y Diego, qué lindo verlo lúcido, familiar, humilde. Imposible no llorar…
There might be other great players but Diego not only was a great player but he also had the the gift to make people love him and he loved them. He knew that people wanted entertainment and he simply delivered.
A classic Football CZcams video ! Well done Gary !
Little man rook the whole England team for aa ride. I Canadian and miss him
I was young, emotional and devestated with that '"Hand of God'".
Until this day i have never forgiven him and i never will.
However, this interview has given me some comfort, as, i can see there are other sides to the man.
I owe my Life to Diego ❤❤❤❤ RIP God of football
His run against colombia in 1985. Best dribble ever.
Maradona showed all of us what skill and dedication looks like, and how vulnerable we all are. Best ever. Alongside Ali.
El Diego is the best player of all time nobody comes close.
Just look at the free kick he scored for Napoli v juventus I think ! Best free kick I’ve ever seen in my life ! Edge of the box right hand side he just lifted the ball with virtually no back lift with his left leg at a crazy angle and floated it top right bin ! Best free kick I’ve ever ever seen
100%
@@Simon-lw4uc the one shown at 15:15?
@@anandmorris thanks 😊 that was pretty special and as described!
ranaldo Delima come very close
Maradona was my favorite footballer…If alcohols and drugs hadn’t consumed him, he would have gone down as the best in the history of football….Alcohols and drugs extinguished the fire in that small magician…His ball control and vision of the game were unparalleled…I still consider him as one of the greatest, but in terms of longevity, trophies, and individual awards, I think Messi is now the greatest..l love Maradona…May his soul continue to rest in peace…As lover of football from Nigeria, I must confess, Argentina is known for producing football geniuses…They are blessed, and Messi and Maradona will always be on top of the list….
Include the off field stuff he’s still the greatest player I have ever seen or will ever see
@@Simon-lw4uc I wouldn’t even argue with you boss because he was truly a genius in the game…I only said in terms of longevity and number of trophies won, Messi just about edged everyone else…But Maradona was a monster on the pitch…
I saw this Documentary back in 2006, when I was 18 Yrs Old!! Time is Flying by!! 🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷
woww
I watched this in 2006, and now I’m the same age as Maradona was in this programme (45)…scary!!!
@@its_rick_james_bich2575 damn lol
now another year has gone since you wrote that.
Love you Dieago !!👍☘️☘️😜
Dammit I miss him!🕊️😭
Best player in history
Buena onda Lineker.. En America se habla espanol.. Tu documental estuvo buenisima. Espero lo haigas pasado bien en America.. I hope you enjoyed your stay in America Lineker.. In America, futbol, is our sport..
I'm english diego has always been my favourite player and my goat ..BUT LETS NOT GET IN TWISTED WE "THE ENGLISH " GAVE THE WORLD THE GAME . WE INVENTED THE GAME FROM RUGBY TO FOOTBALL .
@@MrRobm81 The modern way of football was created by the English, I do agree with that. The Mayans and Aztecs played a slight version of football long before the English created the present version. We all agree it is the king sport. Futbol (football, soccer) is the greatest sport ever..
Lineker is a real human being and a soccer legend.
RIP El Diego!. Still the greatest footballer ever to me and the generation whom grew up with his artistic play.
I think Maradona was maybe the best player on Earth - he was absolutely class! Sad he has gone!
Piala Dunia 82 sudah ada Diego Maradona, namun piala Dunia 86 aku masih mengingatnya sampai sekarang, Piala Dunia 1990 akupun masih menjagokannya sampai yang terakhir piala dunia 1994, . sekarang aku bisa melihat dirinya dalam diri Lionel Messi,la pulga sangat luar biasa, saya yakin Diego sangat bangga padanya.
Gary Lineker aku sangat suka dengannya ,dia sangat berkelas dan elegan!!
No habra otro Maradona, ademas fe gran furbolista, exelente persona. Un corazón enorme, amó a sus padres como a nada igual que a sus hijas. Dieguito fue algo excepcional...!
Alla dónde estes, Dieguito, te amamos por siempre!
GARY WINSTON LINEKER, Speaking A Very Good CASTELLANO.
Yes. He was playing in Barcelona for 4 years
@@Wolfblack7 :
Exactly.
The first World Cup I remember. I recall my father saying he's the best player in the world while pointing to the screen at Maradona.
He never stopped getting wrecked. He did well to live until 60.
The Goat the best ever
Was a dream to meet him and I did in Dubai just before he passed by, RIP amigo
ronaldinho and maradona are the best players of all time!
And Ronaldo Nazario
Ronaldinho and Maradona were a different type of player to Nazario.
Nazario was the perfect STRIKER, but Ronaldinho and Maradona were just magicians. Try were just in a class all of their own, and that class was pure, magical, joyful football that we all loved to watch.
No less talented as players than Nazario, just different. @@JohnSmith-oe5kx
Maradona: Genio y figura, hasta la sepultura.
I love the two men, two great men, Maradona is super player, and Lineker is super humanist, Linker's modesty and selflessness is astonishing, and he supports the good causes, such as Palestine, both do.
مارادونا الطفل لم يكبر ابدا وبقي يعيش بقلبه النقي وبرائته في عالم قذر لايعيش فيه غير المنافقين . ارقد بسلام يااسطورة ❤
amazing interview and for me the best footballer of my generation, he helped us understand what it was like to witness pele.
Thanks so much for posting
I wish time could stop or go back. Anyone who knows or has been closely involved in the world of drugs knows how difficult it is to get out of the hole. We see Maradona calm, healthy and within his weight, reunited with his family. A shame, what could have happened to end the way it did.
Gifted soccer player just like Pele+Messi
As a England fan, Diego was an absolute legend best ever, beautiful player to watch, don’t care if he cheated against us no player comes close
As an English 13 year old I was upset at the time, but he truly was the greatest player that will ever live.
A legend , and Gary Lineker
bit tight that mate! Liniker is a legend. barca forward for 3 years and the only player in history to never recieve a yellow or red card.

Really good documentary…
Gary one of my favourites..
Deigo maradona was n he be remain the most iconic football figure all time....
Gary is a patient man 😂😂 I would have boarded a plane back when that guy said it’s too early. Gary is a legend. Elegance and class. 2 things Diego lacked.
its only two hours bro, calm down.
@@jamiew1664 lol I was talking about his entire career and life He was a joke , untrustworthy.
مارادونا❤ العظيم❤
Maradona...master, king, legend, God.
A legend indeed
What I find sad is that people lift him up so high on a pedestal. The only way from that is straight down. No doubt he was one of the all time greats.
14:33 that flying knee savage
Connected that beautifully 😂
We love you no matter what ❤
All the kicks he took for his skills evens things up,plus the quality of the second goal was worth 5.
The Greatest ;
Rest in peace Diego
In hockey, it is illegal to kick the puck in the net but countless goals are scored by feet. In 100 + years of hockey, nobody has said " Not a good goal Ref - I kicked it in"
Wow a player
Sorry, but that artwork of the Hand of God in his house cracked me up! 🤣
I was gutted when he did "The hand of God", but that second goal he scored against England was more than world class.
God bless Maradonaa
Love him or hate him, Maradona has gone down as a legend on and off the pitch. Meanwhile, the English are still sitting on a butt so hurt from goal he scored 38 years ago, forgetting their centuries old looting and ransacking of other countries riches.
Lot of barcelona influence here - Linekar, Maradona, Bobby Robson and even Cruyff
I think 86 was the last truly great World Cup, the innocence and it just being about football and fans, with a few spicy bits, it’s too commercial now. That plus the greatest goal in World Cup history on a pitch that was a vegetable patch.
gary lineker: 90s wm losing to germany semi finals
Maradonna:losing to germany in the 90s wm final
Boss: Andreas Brehme and lothar matthäus
The greatest, Maradona was pure genius, Peter Shilton should have jumped higher anyway.
I love the interpretation of the hand of god in the painting lol
While Maradonna was indeed a great footballer, Gary Lineker was a great footballer and is a great human. A man so humble, who was Maradonna's opposite number, showing up at his house, speaking Spanish and interviewing courageously yet courteously, simply underlines Gary's true greatness. Rather sad Diego couldn't more graciously honor his former foe who'd traveled so far to interview him and share his story.
Gary lineker is a smug condescending arsehole
I believe Maradonna did honor him, he was kind, gracious, generous, appreciative, invited him into his home to have lunch with his family. Even admitted to using his hand! Yes of course he got lucky with the decision to let the goal stand, but thats down to the referee.
Ironically the most iconic goal ever scored in a football game was by...hand
Nice one
Loved the chang
Best player ever end of
The hand of God is the second best goal!! The first...well everyone knows that one. Que Viva Maradona Forever! Que Viva Argentina 🇦🇷💙🤍💙!!
He wasnt the greatest footballer,he was the greatest sportsman of all time bar none
im not garys biggest fan, but hats off to his spanish.
i love the way the union jack was the flag of choice back then
English people talk about the gol with the hand, what about the one in the same match where made everyone sit on their assess?
Silly comment, it’s pretty obvious that the team that lost the game because of a cheating goal only wants to talk about that cheating goal.
The second goal was absolutely 💯 a product of a genius the entire ENGLISH MIDFIELD,defence and goalie (peter shilton) didn't have an answer ,he cut through them as though they didn't exist
That flyin knee
Interesting when he's with Mike Tyson. They both have so much in common as professional sportsmen who were immense talents, the best in the world by far and in their absolute primes at the same time in the mid to late 80s. But both became very troubled in their personal lives and went down the slippery slope into doom around the same time too.
Tyson never came close in boxing to the levels Diego got to in football. Tyaon never beat a good contender and just looked great beating bums
@@dondamon4669 Which is why he made $300 million in 5 years and was endorsed by Muhammad Ali and the best boxers in the world at the time. If talking about football vs boxing as sports, then yes, a legendary footballer will usually be greater, because football is the biggest sport on the planet. With the exception of Muhammad Ali, who was also "friends" with Pele. They admired each other.
Steve hodge ( Forest ) i think got Diegos shirt = that sold at Auction for 6 million quid !
