  • Everybody knows the name Diego Armando Maradona.
The man of great achievements, beautiful dribbles, and numerous challenges. He overcame the odds to rise above everyone else in the world of Football, but at what cost. There is always two sides to the Maradona story. A story on the pitch, and another one off of it.
This is the story of Maradona, and how he added his eternal mark on Football.
From his beginnings with Argentinos Juniors and Boca Juniors, to his challenging and tough stint with Barcelona in Spain. From his international struggles in the 1982 World Cup, to his triumph and rise to the Football summit after the 1986 World Cup. From his highs and lows at Napoli and the 1990 World Cup, to his drug problems and doping test failures later on in his career.
All of this and much more will be discussed in this long episode.

At last, the legendary channel strikes back with this story of football GOAT. Now the only thing that's left is the King himself, Pele.
The legacy of Maradona still remained eternity. His death in 2020 really "blessed" both Argentina and Napoli, as both finally achieved success once more after a long time of the hiatus, with Argentina winning the Copa America and World Cup under Lionel Messi and Napoli enjoying the 3rd Scudetto the last year with charismatic striker Victor Osimhen.
    RIP Diego.

He was given an honorary one in 95 and in 2000 he was jointly awarded the FIFA player of the 20th century along with Pele. That alone shows what an impact he made to world football. Who watched Maradona closely. He will realize that he is not just only a skilled and talented player. I have watched many skilled and talented players such as Cruyff, Ronaldinho, Brazilian Ronaldo, Messi, Zidane, Robinho and others. But Maradona had something that no other player had. He was a player who combined talent, skill, strong will, charisma, and a strong leadership personality, as well as a revolutionary personality like Guevara in football. Although he lacked professional behavior off the field and not on the field. It is not enough to have talent and skill to be the best. Maradona was more than a football legend. His messy story is inspiring and I consider it the best footballer's story ever, even though it is on a dangerous slope going. Thank you to the channel owner for this masterpiece that brings together your channel with the story of the greatest player produced by stadiums in history. We are waiting for the next one from you.👍🏽🔥

    • @rockgamiasedes677
      @rockgamiasedes677 Před 3 měsíci +3

Could not disagree more. If you really watched Maradona closely , you would notice that he severely lacked leadership skills and everything that comes with being a leader of a team. His short tempered outbursts and arrogance made him ill suited for the job. His charisma with a ball was insane but his charisma with mic was nothing to be praised for. He was direct and to the point . Many times he attacked journalists for their "loaded" questions. Which often became more and more direct and insulting between Maradona and them. More so in the 90s when it was a favourite for journalists to ask him about his opinions on drugs. Which enraged him every single time. His will can be debated I guess. As much we debate about the will of an addict. (But I will give him point for being immortalized coming from that kind of background. Although that is pretty much story of every Brazilian / Argentine players of renown).
He was unable to work under any / every team / manager throughout. he didn't combine anything that you mentioned. He was a god gifted player who was an artist like none other. But just like some artists it came at the cost of his own personal well being , addiction and blatant disregard for the art he was creating, which is playing football in Maradona's case.
The list of players you mentioned Cruyff was the one whom you could argue that combined leadership and skills and charm to some degree. However, even then he was not perfect. As Cruyff himself put it that he was a disagreeable person. he believed that people can only be known by how much they disagree and argue with you. soooo.....
The perfect mix of leadership and charm and skill was Beckenbauer btw.

This is superb & really professional documentary.
You managed to capture what make football connect with people & how Maradona connected the national team of Argentina plus most of the clubs he played for with there fans, despite his addictions & flawed character.
As a Leeds fan to see Bielsa there at his retirement speech reminds of how Bielsa reconnected Leeds’s fans back with the club, in an increasingly corporate world & sport.
To see sports stars as humans with all of our complexities willing to show emotion & connect so deeply over a shared love of a football the club & nation teams we support is increasingly rare yet needed more than ever.
Gracias Diego & the maker of this documentary for capturing & expressing this emotional side of football so well.

In 1984, Maradona seemed to have hit rock bottom in the eyes of many. However, he went on to achieve a godlike status in Napoli, completely altering the course of Italian football history for a brief period by becoming a formidable barrier to the success of northern teams. In Mexico, he participated in a memorable tournament where he demonstrated his ability to be both the leading star and a team player simultaneously. Many opponents openly admitted that their tactic was to try and stop him using any means necessary, legal or otherwise. He holds the record for being fouled the most times in World Cup history, with his time in Italy especially marked by aggressive challenges. Despite often choosing the hard path (largely due to his own actions), people adored him, because off the field he was an ordinary man with vices and imperfections and was easy to identify with him, while on the field he was untouchable, but remained a joyous, smiling boy who simply loved the game. There will simply never be a player and a person like him. D10S

Please do make such documentaries of footballers who had a tragic end of a career , but left behind a magical legacy. I rarely leave comments in this era of CZcams, as most videos have the retention based editing style, and their value is questionable at best - but I feel the obligation to leave one here. As a football fan that was born after Maradona finished his career - the storytelling is beyond great, starting from his early childhood, giving information about his surroundings, the conditions he lived in to smoothly transitioning into his career along with all the drama it had in it. The multiple point of views on him, covering all aspects must've been a long process, but in the end you've delivered it so perfectly it makes you feel like you've lived along with him. From an inspiring video editor's point of view I cannot imagine all the time and effort that went into this - from finding the materials (pictures, videos, overlays, textures to relay a setting, color correction, etc.) to actually putting it all in one piece. Hope one day a media outlet recognizes this talent, and gives you the opportunity/resources to bring this to an ever wider audience - greatness beyond words 👏

Edit: I also noticed a recurring melody that appears in a few different songs (from entirely different musicians) listed at the end of the video. One of the similarities is between the etude no 1 for string quartet by peter sandberg and holding on to hope by megan wofford. Knowing how much work is put into these videos it can't be a coincidence, and in a way becomes Diegos theme. I really like that touch.

The day they stoped Maradona in World Cup 1994 was the first day I stoped watching or caring about football, till today I like watching him, Shame the compare missi to him, Maradona is other level, no one near him, he made me know and love Argentina.

"...did we really see the best version of Maradona?"
With those drugs and injuries, absolutely not. I'm confident that he would have carried Argentina to a Worls Cup Semi's, at least, had they not tested him. He was a flawed god, all powerful but not all good. RIP D10S

What he did in 86 was amazing considering without him it was really only an average team snd at Napoli who had won nothing in their history until he arrived and in an era where they were competing against AC Milan which was the best team on the planet and the Italian league was the toughest and best in Europe.

@@1972dsrai he did hit his peak but without the drugs and partying his peak could have lasted A LOT longer he possibly could have won Napoli another Scuedetto and Argentina another World Cup

Neymar has done nothing apart from chase the money since he left Barca. He was a great player, but not in the same league as Maradona. He’s always needed great players around him and doesn’t have the drive or character to lift those around him.

A Very good doc and I have seen several on DIOS. There is a nice rhythm and flow to the story. It keeps you engaged on this facinating life that was just as interesting off the pitch as it was on it. I think there will be more to come on his life off the field in the years to come. You showed the two sides of the man, Diego and Maradona.

I never got to see Diego live, but he is incredible. A true rebel in every sense and I did not even know that he was the one who pioneered the concept of personal trainer, media officer, etc. Mexico 86 will always be his zenith, but what he did with Napoli was just as impressive. He took a club that no history of winning and made them into champions both in Italy and in Europe. And back then the UEFA Cup was really competitive with the 2nd and 3rd placed teams in the leagues going to the UEFA Cup.
