  • In this tip I explain how to get lag in 2 minutes. That's right. I show you an actual student in this video. You'll see his before swing compared to after I showed him this simple lag drill. This took about 2 minutes to get lag. So if he can do it why can't you? Give it a try with both driver and irons.
    Pick Up Free Samples of The Body Swing here: bodyswing.com/freesamples/
    Lag is vital if you want to generate move clubhead speed to hit the ball a long way. The problem is, few amateur players have it in their swing. This is due to hitting with the arms. This hitting tightens your wrists and move the club before your body.
    If you want to learn how to get lag in your swing just do this simple lag drill as I explain it in this tip. To prove that you're getting lag, simply video your swing after you try it. If you see that you're getting it, then this lag drill should become one of your favorites.
    You can literally do this around the house and at the range with driver or irons. Just repeat it enough that you start to loosen up and if you do you'll finally know how to get lag in your golf swing and increase your clubhead speed.

    I bought Paul’s program a few years back. Prior to that, I couldn’t hit the ball further than 190. Fast forward 3 years of once a week practice sessions and now I hit my driver 250 straight every single time. Best investment I’ve made in my game. Follow it and be patient- totally worth it!

      Glad you found this one and saw how easy it is to get lag. People out there trying to get it will never get it. This is because they keep using their arms. All you have to do it turn them off. This drill does that as you see. The problem is getting people to keep doing it (which is truly mind boggling). Do that one along with this one. Do it in daily practice swings for a few weeks/month and you will have it forever.

    Thank you Paul for this great lesson,. I have been trying for years to play without a death grip and lag problems I found this lesson to help me out more than any other lesson by far. Worked on the range for about an hour before a round and was hitting the ball much better. One par five I had a to get the ball up a little higher due to trees.... Grabbed 8 iron usually my 150 club hit it 175 to the green, yeah had a 5 mph wind behind me but felt great... Tap in birdie.. looking forward to use this lesson more and play with a lot less pain. Also notice my divots were more even,. Usually my toe is deeper but hey one problem at a time... Thanks again... Ron

      You're welcome. This works great to get lag. Problem is the person tries it a few times and stops. This is a drill that needs to be done for a little while. Maybe a week or two until you unlock the arms and get the lag. Once you do, you then keep the club away from the neck. So you take this one in steps and as you see you get the payoff. Keep at it. You are making a huge breakthrough that will take your game to a whole new level.

    Hey Paul, I know this is a drill, but sometimes I absolutely smash the shot letting the lead arm breakdown and fully hinging the wrist. I'm so tempted to just hit like this because if feels like such a loose and easy swing that produces crazy club head speed. But I imagine this wouldn't work out in the long run?

      I would love it if everyone hit balls like this for a while. As you see you do get crazy clubhead speed. Problem is few will every do it. Think about little kids. Everyone marvels at them. This is what they are doing and they have perfect lag and no chicken wing. They get serious speed with no arm strength. So keep doing it. Maybe you say you are going to do it daily for 2-3 weeks. This will get you the feeling of super loose arms. It will get you perfect lag and no chicken wing too. Then once you feel you have it just keep it a little off the neck. Get used to that. Then keep it off a little more and so on until you have the perfect backswing. See? One step at a time. I have done this drill countless times with students and they all start nailing it. Then I just tell them to keep it a little off the neck. Thanks in advance for the support. I truly appreciate it.

    This is a great video Paul. One of the biggest challenges to my game is lack of distance. I know I need to get more lag but I always fear "losing the clubhead" behind me when I'm about to take my shot. I think it is way more mental than physical. I am going to practice your drill in my yard and then work my way up to trying it on the range this weekend. I know it will feel odd at first but trust this will be a way to add yards to my game.

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  Před 3 lety

      Thanks. Everyone wants distance few find it. It is about loose wrists (which gets you lag) and turn your body way faster. Focus only on those 2 things. Hinge and rehinge then do some of my body drills and tips.
      Grip:
      Hinge/Rehinge: czcams.com/video/5_O0H2QNFo0/video.html
      Just look for the body tips. There are too many to list here.czcams.com/video/jQZLp8bF-Ww/video.html just do the wrist hinging and rehinging as mush as possible. This is where you get the power but this is connected to your rotating body.

    Thanks for this! It was worth trying just to get a feel for where the club should be to have good lag without feeling like I'm forcing it.
    I'm a pretty new golfer but have played tennis since I was a kid (over 20 years now), so the concept/importance of lag makes sense to me (though I think lag is probably important in almost every sport, to be honest!). I just couldn't find how to make it feel relaxed and reliable.

    Paul, I am a 74 yr old senior. Hitting indoors recently using a "Trackman" I recently hit a fairway 7 wood 188 yards off the deck using lag. I was amazed in that looking this video here it was exactly done as shown here ! My goal now is the hit my driver with "lag" to generate more distance. This video is excellent in the fact it gives me steps to follow to achieve my goal. More than anything here, and though you don't mention it, this video when followed prevents the dreaded "casting" which is the biggest killer of lag. At my age, I am averaging 210 yards per drive and yet I feel that your method here will get me more yardage soon. Thanks for this excellent video!

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  Před 2 lety

      Very good. Just keep doing this drill then keep it away from your neck when you are ready. Too many people stop doing things after a few balls. Got to keep doing it until you groove it. This will then go into all of your clubs so you will have it for life.

    Hi Paul. I have been trying for years to get lag in my swing, but I had no turn and a deathgrip on the club. I watched your video, then went to the range. Only had time to hit about 15 balls, so I thought Oh well, I'll practice on the course. Success! Not only did it add lag, it freed up my shoulders so I could actually turn! And it released my death grip on the club. Thanks!

      There is no difference or compensations. I have taught people of all shapes and sizes without issue. Might not physically be able to do a position exactly as I teach it but you need to get a close as you can. Loose wrists and not hitting with arms is key. Then coiling and uncoiling. Legs and hips are the power source. At high 90's you are out of position. Just master the grip and wrists hinge first: czcams.com/video/jQZLp8bF-Ww/video.html and czcams.com/video/Z8K3Gctkz7A/video.html

      That's great. Glad you are doing well. For driver keep it simple and don't try to kill it. Remember loose wrists. Keep working the release until you have no slice spin on your shots. Once you can do that you have the first half. Get that then work on body for direction. It is literally that simple. You've got this.
