Thanks for the video. Only thing I'd suggest is showing how you installed the new bulbs. I just bought a soldering iron, so I'm excited to try this. I bought a used control unit and the lower lights don't work. Bought a second one and....yup, 4 buttons don't work on this one either. Ugh. Should have done the replacement first.

For both door lock switches, climate control, mirror switch in my 2000 Silverado witch ones are 3mm bulbs
i bought a bunch of led 12 v bulbs , the size of the ones in the power window switches, but there are even smaller ones ive noticed in the heated seat switch , ive soldered white led bulbs in both , jsut ended up using the bigger size in the heated seat switch, soldered it right to the board instead of using the little twist turn u lock the bulb in with to make it fit ,
they dont shine the same white tho, theres a coating i guess on the switch to make it shine different ? between the window switches and heated seat switch >? and how do u know whats 6v and 12v ? the heated seat and window switches 12v ?
Well, now that I know how tedious it is to replacing my climate control & radio light bulbs? I’ll stick to a flashlight. I’m not good with a soldering iron at all. I’d cook everything.

What size are the small LED bulbs for the instrument cluster? I did the six large ones, but want to complete the accessory signals and the PRNDL..I bought the radio bulbs for my 2001 Silverado from you and they look great..
I don't know because I don't work on the clusters.
Are the three 12v's 3mm?
Which bulbs should I purchase for the cluster on the left side of the dash i.e. 4x4 controls. I was thinking I should just get the same set of lights you recommend for the radio. In my shopping cart so far I have the set for the a/c controls ($18.99) and the set for the radio (8.99)
I'm not sure about the 4x4 controls, but they are more than likely 4mm bulbs.
I followed your instructions from another video and replaced my AC Delco radio with green LEDs. They look great. Now I want to replace the climate control bulbs with green LEDs as well so they match. I found that using an ohm meter set to the 200 ohm range I can check the polarity of the LEDs by illuminating them before I solder them in. In this case it looks like I need a set of 6 volt and 12 volt LEDs. If the 3mm green LEDs from the radio install are the same diameter or smaller they should work for the 12 volt bulbs. As far as the 6 volt LEDs according to the images from the incandescent bulbs they look to be the same diameter. Is there a part number for a set of 6 volt 3mm green LEDs with spacers?
I have not been able to find any 6 volt led bulbs anywhere. You will have to buy some 3 volt ones and add a resistor to them .

Have you done an led conversion on one of these styles yet ? I seen you have the kit for 03& up but i have a 2000 looking for the leds if not would you be able to tell me what size leds I need ?
For 5mm blue and white leds you have to use a 330ohm resist for 12v
HI. The lights that illuminate the places that indicate whether I have recirculating air or outside are not illuminated on my climate control unit on my 2002 suburban. Any idea how to fix them?
Those bulbs should be the smaller 12v ones on the bottom in the video. If it's not illuminating which one is selected, those are the LEDs next to the buttons on the bottom circuit board.

Alfonso Sauceda There isn't a part number for Led's delco did not use Led's in this particular unit. If you want Led's you will have to find some with the correct voltage. I have not done this conversion yet but it is on my to do list.

How do you determine what pin is positive and the other negative for both the 6v DC and 12 v DC? I'm assuming these bulbs are polarized because they are DC volt rated, yes?
It doesn't matter what way you put these bulbs in. It only matters if you are installing led's.

Question, if I decide to use LED's, which one's would you recommend for the climate control, and the headlight dimmer control panel of which you did a vid on? BTW great vids. I have already order the bulbs for this one but LED's sound cool too if that will work reliably. FYI, I have a 2002 Silverado 2500HD diesel regular cab long bed.

No it's not LED'S have to be polarity correct to work.

Is it just as easy to replace the whole switch assembly..??
Allyn Loring sure is easier to replace the whole assembly if you got a couple hundred bucks or you can do it this way for under $20
Just talked to the dealership switch assembly is discontinued no way to even buy a new one. Thank you so much for this video I'm planning on switching bulbs out

When installing light bulbs it does not matter which way they go in you only need to know what is positive and what is negative when installing led's.

I would caution to be careful to not 'pick' away any solder around the holes where the lights connect. Even using your finger nail to pick away a pieice can damage the trace wire molded into the circuit board. Also if do break the connection by damaging a trace wire, it will break the circuit and none of the lights will work. Learned from experience :(
Luckily these are a dime a dozen at the junkyard. Practice on the junkyard one first.

The problem is sourcing the right led
Most dome styles create hot spots as they say or areas that are much brighter than others.
They need a diffuser on them or something that spreads the light out
Obviously not hard for you to do.
But if you do this for a living or side income there are plenty of people who will pay for colors
I did mine in blue for the top controls to match the rest of my cluster and white for the lowers
I will be doing the 4x4 selector and headlight switch soon as i figure out the bulb sizes
Get some flux to absorb the solder when removing from a board

flux is used to help the solder adhere to the material that is being soldered together a solder sucker tool ( and other variations) is used to remove solder from a board once the solder is heated to temp
Like Jesse said, flux isn't for absorbing solder. You need either the vacuum tool or a copper braid.
