Not only his range, which is amazing, but the pitch control and dynamics. The way he transitions from all-out belting to a softer tone, and then back down to that rich baritone at the start of the 2nd verse . . . damn! As a (mediocre) singer myself, I can understand the difficulty of doing this, even in a studio, but especially in a live performance. Just beautiful. And don't get me started on the excellence of the band!
OMG this man's vouce still gives me chills and brings tears. I love his voice and wished just once he'd come to the US.
This is an astonishing vocal performance. The original sung by Russell Thompkins Jr., was sung in falsetto and here Mick Hucknall is singing full head voice, amazing.

am I the only one who notices the nuances and excellent control of his mic? it really gives his vocal performance those little stuffs we hear which we only take for granted.
walkhardwalk he was great at that from the very beginning. Even in his selection of which mics to use. Go back and check out the video for Money’s too tight to mention if it’s on CZcams. From memory I think he makes excellent choices in that one too.
Yes I’ve often noticed the use of the mic too . I’m no expert but I think the mic is an SM58 and the fact that the mic in occasion is nearly arms length is so telling of the power of his vocal . Quite amazing .
us sound-engineers appreciate a vocalist who knows how to handle a mic and its proximity effect so we dont have to slap a ton of artificial compression on that channel :-D
