Thank you so much Pete, I currently rebuilding a 3.0l v6 engine from a Ford Ranger, and your videos help me out whenever I'm confused about anything.
+John Inch That is really cool. I'm glad they help
im just finishing your series and ive learned so much more than i already knew from just these 13 videos! i just want to thank you for sharing some of your knowledge with us. I am going to be building my first engine and the prep has now become so much easier, i feel much more confident. Thanks Pete!
+SavonRene Awesome! Thanks for watching and good luck with yours
Love the Video s Pete !!!!
I prefer ARP Studs on everything, bolts look great 👍
Thanks Joshua, I use ARP as much as possible
Thanks Pete you even made the oil pan video exciting!!!!
+jonathan bosco I don't know about exciting...but it was fun....lol
Merry Christmas
+jonathan bosco Merry Christmas my friend
My dad was a mechanic. I never got to learn the secrets of the trade and really knew almost nothing about cars, but after 13 videos I now know how to use almost half of the tools that are laying in our garage. Thank you for your videos, you really do explain things very well.
+Darrell Phillips I'll buy the other half...lol. Thanks for watching
Lol, I am one of those people that want to learn everything.. If indeed it is possible. I will eventually learn how to use them :D, And thank you for taking the time to explain things :)
Watched this whole series before i even own a car... Now i am prepared for a lot of things! Thanks a lot Pete!
Nobody can BS you now!
Pete, I didn’t realize you were such a car guy, some great CZcams videos! I’ve learned a lot from them. Bought a ford racing 427 long block I’m dressing out to put into a Superformance mkIII I bought coming in September, my retirement project, lol. May have to build a run stand though, probably sell it when I’m finished with it.
Keep up the great content!
That's going to be an awesome car Dave, I'd love to see it
its 2018 and ive watched all of these videos maybe 100 time... love them ive learned 50% of what ik from you and these videos thank you!
That is really awesome Jason, Thanks for watching and I'm glad they help.
Great info, great quality video!
thanks mate, after watching all 13 episodes, i desperately want to see this thing in action!!
I'v learnt heaps! cheers!!
+Geoffrey Powell Thanks Geoffrey. I should have it on the dyno soon. Stay tuned
Nice Les Paul ! and it is a lefty.
All my guitars are lefty
Great video. Thanks for the tips. I've done plenty of gaskets without being super clean and have yet to have one leak. Sometimes gravel driveways are the best you can do at the time
I agree Mike, thank you
What an excellent series on the basics and theory of engine building. So many helpful tips! I am glad you took the time and considerable effort to do it. Many years of experience of what you have learned to be true that you have passed on. My congratulations.
Perhaps you might like one or two of mine. I use a low strength thread sealer on all my bolts and nuts with exception of main and rod cap bolts which I use medium strength. The low strength sealer (Loc-tite thread sealer) does several things. Lubricates threads so proper torque specs can be reached. Seals the threads where bolts go into water passages. Keeps the bolts from loosening up. And lastly provides a barrier to reduce corrosion between dissimilar metals.
High Tack comes in aerosol cans also. I prefer to paint my gaskets on both sides with it. Makes application much easier and less mess. Use acetone for clean up of High Tack. You will find this especially helpful if later down the road you have to remove the part. After scraping off the majority of the gasket, a lint proof rag with acetone on it will immediately remove the old sealer.
Again Thank you for the great series.
Those are very good tips, thank you. I would be careful about using LocTite to lubricate threads....that will actually cause your torque to be off a little. I explain the effects of lubricants in my fastening video.
That paint looks great! Nice job.
+CT moog So far so good
all your videos are fantastic and I cant wait to see more
+sameo51 Thank you my friend
@@PetesGarage 😅⁷😅😅😅😊😊😊
Thorough as always Pete. It's not hard to tell that you're a Ford guy, but your videos apply to really anyone regardless of brand. Thanks
+steveeoaktree I really try to make them so they are not any brand specific. I want to help everyone, not just a Ford or Chevy fan.
Thank you for these videos! I have learned so much from them. You gave a ton of info that was easy to understand. Keep up the good work and thanks again!
+Steven R I'm glad to help
U gotta love Ford dark blue, especially the Eastwood's product. My dad used on his 428 FE build. I see we have 2 hobbies incommon. Mechanicing and playing guitar. Good stuff man.
Love the 428......awesome stuff! Rock on!
@@PetesGarage I would have put a 428 CJ in the car. They are a really good Cobra Engine. When you use aluminum heads, water pump, intake. It weighs very close to a Windsor. It looks right in there, and they are beastly in a Cobra, Shelby shipped them that way. The 394FE I have would scare you to death in that car. So much fun and I built the engine for $2000 and some scrounging. A Windsor in a Cobra just seems wrong. Even if it’s cheaper, I can’t under that being issue for a Cobra. But I can build a scary 390 that will look right. And you will never use all of the power.
@@PetesGarage The Goldtop with P90s is be beautiful. I destroyed my left shoulder and I have trouble with a 12” readies neck. I tried a 7.25 Strat and I can play it. I love my Les Paul. I have a bolt neck Epiphone LPSpecial with P90s. Do you know of a company that sells 7.25 radius necks that could fit it? I can’t get my hand to work on a flat radius, I need a rounded fretboard. Thanks! Play on!
I admire your attention to detail, you are a real craftsman!
very intelligent technician thank you for these information your videos are very rich with information
Simply amazing. Thank you so much
Thank you for watching
Great vid and thanks for the tips!
+Rudderify Thank you
Very nice video!
Nice T Shirt... Happy Holidays........ that Gibson a Joe Bonamassa signature ? Saw him in Tucson at the
Fox Theatre , small intimate Southwest venue, that man can play.
+Leslie Duncan It's just a Studio gold top. I didn't need to add a few grand for the signature model. I'd love to see him.....he got the chops for sure
Just watched all 13 videos in 1 day lol very addictive. By far the best engine videos i found on youtube. Im a novice an im researching on how a engine is built an how it works purely as a hobby. Your videos helped me a great deal. Your doing awesome work my friend, i have subscribed to your chanel an will watch out for any other videos you post, thank you :)
+Hamaad Raja Thank you very much. I have a few more videos for this series, fuel systems, ignition, and dyno testing....stay tuned...
Very good videos thank you so much for your time and for sharing these information, good job my friend
+za3zoo31 Thank you my friend!
Neat, clean installation. Thanks for the tips, Pete. I'm really enjoying this series, as I've been planning a Cobra build for several years. Hope to have the time and shop space next year. Merry Christmas!
+FlyingShotsman Merry Christmas my friend. Don't give up that dream. I want o see you driving it when you're done
Yet another great video
Thanks again!
Very informative thanks !
+cliff jamerson Thank you!
Another great video. Like the left handed Les Paul and full stack. Bet your neighbors like that when your in the mood for some volume. lol :-)
+ThatDanDude My neighbors enjoy loud music whether they want to or not
Nice Les Paul
Custom made for a lefty...lol
Good video. Came across it when looking up Canton windage trays. Im wanting to stick with the OE stock oil pan on my 306 build and theres only one rear sump windage tray and it seems like its real chore to get it to fit with the oil pump pickup and with a block mounted dipstick.
I got the 2K eastwood paint like you used but mine is in the spray can I also got a couple of the grey primers as well. Havent used it yet my project stalled a bit and now the paint is a year old so I have to toss it out as eastwood states it has a 1 year shelf life.
Yeah, that's a tight fit. Too bad you have to toss some good paint.
Solid explanations and tips for sealing the pan there Pete! Thanks for posting, big ol thumbs up man. Merry Christmas to you and yours as well Pete. Nice pooch in the background too hehe.
+Rhage73 Merry Christmas from me and Shelby....she's the shop security and keeps me company. If I could just teach her to get tools....lol
I hear ya man, still workin on that with mine! Although interested in what i am upto, i cant seem to get him to bring me a single thing hahaha.
Another great vid from the Garage. Merry Christmas to you too and best wishes in 2016. Nice looking lefty gold top in the back there.
+Barnekkid Merry Christmas to you my friend. I had that made in Gibson Custom shops.....sounds awesome!
superbbbb ,videos great
+Binu Chandran Thank you my friend
YES ANOTHER ONE. christmas came early lol
+Nate Bennett WOO HOO....enjoy
thanks that's mi first engine to rebild myself I taking my time to fixed right
Thumbs up,
Hello Pete from Ireland. I have watched all 13 videos this past week or so of your engine build for your Cobra. It's taken you over 2 years to get this far obviously because of your other projects but I must admit you have the patients of a Saint as we say here! By the way it's 00.51 a.m here the 17th of March so I shall now wish you and your family a very Happy St.Patricks Day!
Now back to your videos, they are simply fantastic. They are well filmed, edited well, methodical and to the point. Your knowledge is second to none and I must admit your videos are addictive.
I read a blog post that you dyno tested the engine and have now tore it apart for inspection. Will you replace all the mains and rod bearings along with the slightly worn thrust washer or just the thrust washers for the final build?
And secondly are you rebuilding your Cobra?
Thankyou for your videos and for sharing your knowledge , a true gentleman , look forward to seeing part 14. Kind Regards Brian.
+0BMM1 Thank you Brian. Happy St Patricks day to you. We're all a little Irish on St Paddys day....except for the Scottish...lol
It has taken so long because I have been making the videos as I go along. It is a longer process than you think. I am almost finished and should have it running soon. It has all new bearings, rings and seals. It's going in the Cobra which I am also still building.
Thank you very much for watching my friend
Merry Christmas Pete!
+Curdaroys You too my friend
nice video Pete... oil pan gaskets are always a learning experience nothing worse than having a drip lol Merry Christmas Pete thanks
+RICKAFIX Sometimes the drip comes from the timing cover being off a little and the main seal is not centered on the crank. And sometimes it from oil getting past the pan gasket....either way it's no good. Merry Christmas to you my friend
"Sweating horsepower" 😉, love the vid Pete
Just found your videos, great information on engine rebuild and painting tips, I have a question, I'm working on a 283 small block, replacing exhaust manifold gaskets,do I need to put any permatex/sealer on gaskets before installing, I've seen videos where they do and others don't,so what you're opinion on this, enjoy your videos, SUBSCRIBED
i would love to see you take that beast to the dyno and test drive it after
+Tronycs 1312 I will be making a video about that. First I'll do fuel systems and ignition.
you do a great job,im planning on putting a new top end on my 355 chevy along with oil pan, thanks i really did not know all about pans, mine just rusty-cleveland salt, im undecided about checking rod and crank bearings-probably only 40,000 miles but sat for 8 yrs.--visual inspection along with torque -take apart then i feel i have to replace-your input would be greatly appreciated-THANKS RICK,2nd time I watched this !!
+Richard Kodger Awesome! Thanks Richard. I'd be glad to help, just text or call me
Pete i got my cleveland running,i did many things you taught me.
+Darron Mecak That is awesome...good for you!!!!!
Pete nice man cave!
Hey Dave! Great to hear from you, thanks!
a lefty gold top..cool
Had it custom made
Pete, love your videos. Always very informative thank you. I have one question, I absolutely love the way you paint your engine blocks. How do you apply the paint? Paint brush or spray gun? Thanks
Thank you my friend, I always spray
+Petes Garage -
on the box with the four doors at the bottom if the oil pan (the technical term has momentarily evaded me,lol), I noticed the four metal fastening clips. do you clean/cut the threads before using them? personally, I despise the horrible little things...even though they are sometimes a necessity; eg: fastening motorcycle fairing. I had the 'random idea' that a nut could be securely welded underneath...it'd have the added advantage that one could choose a higher-quality metal, instead of taking that what's offered by the manufacturer.
on the other hand, all of the above is rendered superfluous, because I cannot imagine parts manufactured by your chosen supplier being of a medium grade. ;)
on a wee tangent: this morning, Pete, I was subjected to a moment of enlightenment. not only do i live in the wrong country (Germany); but i also live on the wrong continent! the market for tuning vehicles to this degree over on this side of the 'pond' is a: tedious in finding parts, b: nigh-on-impossible to find technically talented machining shops, c: running the gauntlet and cutting through the red-tape jungle of the stringent street-worthiness/emissions tests; which are imposed upon us by the government, is diffcult with a metaphorical machete....let alone a real one.
even if the above mentioned are 'luckily' found or met, you'd have to sell your kidney on ebay to pay for it all!
you're a lucky man living over there, pete and as we say up in the north of england - " a reet top fookin' bloke too!"
thanks for posting and if I could, I'd drop off a crate of the world's finest beer infront of your workshop! "Newcastle Brown Ale" it's called. or "Dog" as it's affectionately known locally ;)
these video's are absolutely priceless mate!
2 questions Pete...Is the Ford engine going in a circuit car.?.And what happened to the jet ski engine or did I miss something.?..Many methods to sealing a sump and yours is a good one too..Now I see a serpentine set up a way out from the crank end..and a gear..I've built a few sprintcar engines and performance stuff for friends for years and I really enjoy your channel..Good stuff mate..Have a good and safe Christmas..Pass it on from me...Cheers
+ZIGgassedUP Thiis is going in my 427 Cobra. I'm still working on the jet ski engine.Thank you for watching. Have a safe holiday yourself my friend
Hey Pete, great video! Im building an LT1 and using a rubber 1 piece gasket. Would you still use the permatex high tack on both side all the way around a gasket like that? Thanks!
Probably not
I'm not sure if they make for that year of ford blocks or for ford at all, but I've had a lot of good experience with fel-pro's one piece rubber gasket that is steel lined on my chevy 350. I've never had an oil leak with them and you don't use any sealant(or it won't work right). Maybe you could give it a shot on your next build, hell it's even blue so you're sure to love it lol Merry Christmas and have a good one Pete.
+narutolovesbleach I have seen those....next time I'll see if I can get one. Thank you my friend and you have a great Christmas too!
Hey Pete, very informative series really enjoyed it. Just curious as to whether or not you will be doing a video on how to set up the wiring harness and connect the engine to the interior electronics/dash. I want to eventually build an engine and put it into a chassis of my choosing and so far thanks to you the engine building part of things seems straight forward but I find myself wondering how people are able to put engines they built from scratch into a random car and have the interior electronics and what not still functioning like from factory. Any insight or advice would be appreciated.
+Raptor6969Jesus stalling this engine in a chassis and will do videos about wiring, transmissions, setup, all kinds of videos. Stay tuned, I have many more videos on the way
Nice video Pete just started watching your series. What manufacture do you use for your gasket selection? every time I open a gasket set it's cork oil pan gaskets! Also, did you lock-tite the windage pan bolts in your oil pan upon final assembly?
+Ed Spencer Thank you. Fel Pro or Victor Renz will have special gasket sets designed for high performance applications. You have to look for special applications. I do not use LocTite. It is not necessary if the fastener is properly torqued down....but it can be used as a safety feelgood measure
What do you use for paint & how is it applied,Looks great!
I use the Eastwood 2K ceramic sprayed on
I was always told the oil pick had to be around a 1/4 inch from the bottom of the pan, I took the pan from my high performance Lima engine 2300 pinto engine, and added an inch to the pan to increase the volume, so I had almost 7 quarts, never had a problem (this was my daily driver) never had a problem with pressure drop or oil temps, but yeah if your circle track race either dirt or pavement yeah a baffled pan will keep the pick up submerged in oil.
Another great point, thanks
Nice video on oil pans Pete. Just enough info to make the job right and make it look nice too. Btw. awesome guitar. Is it a Gibson or Epiphone ? Those two humbuckers must sound awesome. I've got a cheapo chinese copy of the LP and even with that level of quality control sounds awesome :D
+Kaktus Jack Thanks my friend. That is my Gibson custom shop LP Studio gold top. Between that and my Strat I have it all covered.
+Petes Garage Nice! Can't beat custom built cars and custom built guitars.
Hey have you finished this engine?
I honestly spent the last week watching all of your videos involving rebuilding an engine. Thank you very much for your help and insight. I am attempting to rebuild my first engine in the next couple weeks and you gave me a bunch of great information on how to rebuild an engine properly. Thankfully the engine I am rebuilding is a four cylinder so it will be a bit easier than this engine. But again thank you for your videos.
In a previous video concerning main bearings you mentioned how if any bearings have a slight scratch even from a manufacturer we shouldn't use it. Do you recommend sending the scratched ones back or buying a new set again or what?
+rielel017 I am finishing it up. I have 3 more videos, fuel systems, ignition, and dyno testing and break in. If you can feel the scratch in the bearing with your fingernail, I would get a new one. Just send them back and say they were scratched
nice. I like my engines built clean too!👍 that high tack works great. I use cork gaskets with it. ps. did u use high tack on both sides of the rubber gasket?
+TheMarcusGomez I did put the high tack on both sides. Cork gaskets will work, I have used them many times
could you please make video on breaking in cam and motor thanks joe from australia
+adrian randich I will do that....thanks Joe
Hey Pete. I have an engine builder building me a Windsor 393 stroker. He wants to put a high volume oil pump on this engine. Everything I can find says its a bad idea on sb fords. Any thoughts or experience on this? Happy 4th of July man.
I use a HV oil pump in mine, just make sure you put on a 7 quart pan. Happy 4th my friend
:) Nice
Merry Christmas or i may shall say Happy New Year :)
Learned a lot so far with this series of videos.
I´m in a process of rebuilding a small engine.
thje engine alredy in parts and i still have a lot to clean.
But with time i´ll get there.
Shame i can´t find EASTWOOD products here, to apply some of the info i have now.
Have to find something that matches those products :)
+Simão Martins Thank you and happy new year to you my friend. I tried your link but it does not work. Maybe try to post it again?
+Petes Garage
Hello. Following your facebook page now.
I´ll send the link there :)
lm learning ? you videos help my to thanks
Thank you Oscar
Interesting, I read recently that my car has a dry sump with around 8 litres of oil in. On the dashboard it shows both oil temperature and coolant temperature but not pressure.
Is this system with the sump better than a dry sump?
A dry sump is used mostly for cars that will be used in racing applications where oil may not always sit in the bottom of the oil pan. Neither is better, they are each designed for specific use.
Hi Pete. Great video as usual. Im at the stage of ordering my oil pan and wonder what are your thoughts on the rubber/steel core one piece oil pan gaskets?
I like those gaskets because they seal better under heating and cooling cycles. While I didn't use one, any time you can use a better gasket it will help
Pete, would you recommend using high tack on these type of rubber/ metal gaskets?
Nice job buddy! What's your take on that fluid dampener. For the harmonic balancer?
Only if it needs external balancing
Pete's Garage what I wanted to know was is it a good part? I'm in need of replacing my stock balancer as the rubber is getting weak and my engine revs at 8000rpm. Is the fluid damper good or is there something else I should look at?
A fluid damper is best because it covers a huge range and is more effective the harsher the vibration gets.
you can put magnets on the oil filter too, I would rather have the junk trapped in the oil filter but its harder too see, unless you open the filter but yeah, a magnetic drain plug will tell you wants going on with less hassle.
That's a cool idea.
Does that bolt under the oil pump(presumably) need a washer? The other 9 seem to have one. Holding the main cap on, timing side.
Solid advice as usual though, keep it up Pete
+wolfy9005 Wow, you have a sharp eye. There is a washer there. The cap is recessed so the bolt clears the pump.
+Petes Garage Ah, good to know. I didn't think you'd have forgotten something important like that, given the attention to detail through everything else I've seen on your videos.
All I do all day is find mistakes on stuff at work, the bosses hate/love me for it. Doesn't pay any more, though. Chose the wrong profession to apprentice in, but maybe it will get me a good reference somewhere else when I'm done.
+Petes Garage I got a bit of an off topic question Pete. I'd really like your opinion. If your only choices were a 318, 360, or a 383 (Chrysler of course) which would you go with?
+james ashby It would all depend on what I'm putting it in
Street/strip rig
+james ashby Probably a 360. Lots of options and power potential
beautiful FORD I WANT TOO HEAR IT RUNNNNNNNNNNNNN
+TheCharillz23 It's coming.....few weeks!
Hey Pete, when's this monster gonna be running? I just got my 351w done about two weeks ago. Not near as clean as this though!
+Reece Lucas I'm almost done. As soon as the weather breaks I'll take it to the dyno. I'll have a video of that
I never thought the larger sump was for more cooling surface area on the outside, just that the larger oil volume had a higher heat capacity when run with an oil cooler.
What about fins?
I've seen sumps with fins that don't look like they do much more than decorate it, I'd love to see what kind of extra cooling performance you'd get out of actual fins like those on an air cooled engine's cylinders.
+RTDragonCommando Anything to add surface area to the pan will help in cooling. You don't want the oil to hold heat, you want it to dissipate evenly.
Say Pete, has anyone welded a heat sink onto an oil pan to facilitate cooling? I suppose intercoolers for oil does the same with some additional plumbing. Hm, bubbles - gasses can make great insulators. Can you perhaps compare and contrast what a dry sump oil system is and why it would be preferred ?
A soft suggestion for your shows. Consider a flexible (or directable) camera with light source to peek into cylinder, upper/lower wells, oil pans, or anywhere else you might like to show us.
I suspect that every build out you do, after taking your time, cleaning all surfaces, applying sealant and gaskets, torqueing as MFGRs specifies - you can park your car in your living room without being concerned about fluid leaks onto the white rug.
Another great question. Dry sumps are used mostly to even out oil flow. When accelerating or turning the engine could starve. he purpose of the external sump is to make sure oil is always available. I like to work very clean
Awesome video I wish you restore my engine on my mustang grande 302 😀
+mustang70juan Bring it over and we'll do it
+Petes Garage awesome how much is to restore the engine so I can start saving?
it was lack ?
Not to rush you, but when will Part 14 be up?! :)
+Walter Shmitty Pretty soon...I'm almost finished
so what wil be the next video in this siries, maybe how to ad EFI?
+Jochem van der Meulen I'm making the next one. 13 will be Carbs, EFI and fuel systems, 14 will be all about ignition systems, 15 prepping and getting dyno testing.
Odd question Pete but where did you learn to build engines? Family or through employment?
+Adam Lambert Great question. I taught myself, learned as mush as I could by reading, and worked in en engine assembly plant for years. It's a culmination of many sources.
+Petes Garage Interesting, thanks for sharing!
Sir I am 17 years old and I have zero experience of building engines but I do really want to build one can you suggest some books or some videos so that I can start building the most basic engine first?.
+jatin khurana Just call me Pete, There are some basic books about Ford and Chevy engines. Look around and read as much as you can
Pete great videos, however i'm concerned about your measurement on sump pickup clearance. I have always used straight edges and rulers and your idea on adding a known thickness spacer is great. I think your math is flawed or i didn't follow correctly. If you add a 1/4" spacer and then have a 1/4" gap between the pan and block surface you should have zero clearance. The only clearance would then be from the gasket material in this case a paper gasket more like 1/16" with out being squished from torque. If you used a 3/8" spacer since that's your min spec, then with the pan installed and had zero clearance then the gasket thickness would be your extra. Using a 1/2" or more spacer would give a gap to measure to be sure the pan is sitting on the pickup.
I'll have to watch the video again to remind myself, but I'm sure the clearance comes out right at the spec
I thought the same thing that it would bottom out with no clearance.
Nope....it worked out fine
hi good update how you change oil
Just like a regular engine
Do you swap out the guitar in the background, every video? XD
I do not, I just leave the one hanging that I played recently
I love the South Park shirt! You bastards!
Great show!
now is rotating free
What state are you in?
+LS1 Corvette Fan NY
I'm 15 and I'm restoring a '71 f100, what can I do to make the 302 have more horsepower without blowing the budget
+Will Bergeron Start with the heads and intake....
+Petes Garage thanks for the info I just got the block back I'll probably start on it next week
He's wearing a South Park shirt lol
Hey....it was Christmas....lol
How about adding cooling fins to a stock pan?
I'm not sure where you'd put them, but it could work
@@PetesGarage i was thinking about 1/4" ribs running front to back just to give the pan more cooling area. Kind of like an air cooled motorcycle
That could work, but I think very minimally
@@PetesGarage Trues, but how much would it take? 10 degrees?
You'd have to try
no reallly really please wear some gloves when working my dear friend
how much would it cost to paint an engine.
Depending on the amount of work maybe $500
I need work does to the front and back of the engine. The sides seem okay.
Play us a riff!!!!
I did that awhile back and got hit with a copyright issue. CZcams has super sensitive controls when you upload a video
Shouldn't primer be applied before engine colour
Some paints are made to go right over bare metal.
What can I pay you to come up with an engine formula for me?
What kind of formula do you need?
Well something budget minded 2k range sbc 350 for a 72 chev pickup. Bottom end has low miles so just bolt on top end. heads, intake, cam, carb and all the small bits. Have been looking at the Edelbrock top end packages but also looking into piecing it together. Vortec heads etc.. Thought with your expertise here be able to just rattle off a good budget minded build that a backyard mechanic could throw together without getting too technical ;). Love the vids. Keep em coming. Thanks for your time. chefk85@gmail.com
I could but I try not to because I did a couple of times and the guys blamed me for mistakes they made. I understand it's difficult to do.
Going with a crate from blueprint. Warranties are nice. I wouldn't blame you. Was more looking for a general choose these heads this cam that intake etc. I can put it together. Just thought you might have a go to combo for a budget build.
Is that a paper towel Pete?
+Jake Champion P.S. I really enjoy the videos and attention to detail. You may have answered this question already, but now engine build is nearly complete, how much would an engine like this cost to build a person themselves vs a professional assuming same access to tools you've used in these videos? Thanks so much
+Jake Champion Yes it is, you got me. I have had lint free cloths breakdown when I soak them in lacquer thinner so I use paper towels. I will only use them to clean gasket surfaces and only when they are wet so the don't leave fibers. You're a sharp guy.
+Jake Champion Thanks Jake. This engine cost $15k. Converting it to EFI added $5k so you could do it for around $10k.
im 3 months late btw but merrry christmas
+TheCharillz23 You're not late...just a bit early, besides, stores should be decorating soon...lol
paint brush might drop a hair and you used tissue paper to wipe before that wtf ??
That is an excellent point. I should have used a lint free cloth.
Hello my friend how much the price of this engine and speed changer exist in any country I want to buy one , and I need a phone number
+hayder aljanabi This engine was $15,000. My phone number is at the end of all videos
I think you need to play the guitar at the end of your videos.
+Travis Cooper Well....that' one request....lol. I'm not sure people would watch it
Why not use a Dry sump. You will gain the extra HP by not having the engine driving the pump. Lose some weight while you're at it.
The plus side is the external oil cooler and maintenance cost.
+Claude “Reviews4U” Rains Guys....it's pretty simple. This is a video about oil pans....not different oil systems. I can cover dry sumps in a different video. We are all here to learn and share information. There is no need to be nasty or call someone names. Lets' try this again. If you have anything to contribute we can have a conversation. I delete all negative and nasty comments. Thank you for your passion around this subject.
***** Actually my question was pointed at you. As I despise people that seem to think they can talk for someone else when I didn't ask them to start with.
And his assumption about my knowledge on the subject is one other reason as well. I installed many of these systems for many different costumer reasons. As if you're going to spend $12,000.00 on a motor the extra $800.00-$1100.00 investment is cheap insurance. As you don't need to spend $4000.00 if you're not some NASCAR engine builder.
That is all I got to say on the subject.
Thank You
+Claude “Reviews4U” Rains That is a good point. That is why i ask everyone to be respectful. You never know what experience someone has. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us
+Claude “Reviews4U” Rains 5k for a good dry sump setup which doesn't come from China, not worth it in a Show/Cruise car
very intelligent technician thank you for these information your videos are very rich with information
Thank you and you are welcome my friend.
