- I've always wanted to try to build/print parts for my old BMW's, and today we finally get to put my first "creation" to the test! This USB Charger solves a problem for me, and probably a lot of E39 owners. Check out some of the additional info/links I have below:

Keep more products like this coming! One with a ac outlet and even aux would be great as well.
Great solution & product!
I received the usb port today. The 3d printed piece like great! Thanks for the sticker Chris. Unfortunately due to my work schedule I won't have time to install it till some time in Nov. I'm looking forward to it!
Oh wow that’s SO cool 😎 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Dude! Sweet! Got to get me one!
I like those pedals !! lol
You've got the cup holder wiggle mod installed too. It only takes 230hp to make your drinks and the cup holder end up in the back seat
I love/hate that thing 🤣
Not bad at all! Wishing you had shown the what you did with the connection more clearly, but good job.
Adding a power switch to the plate would be great for those with power drain concerns who don’t want to plug and unplug things all the time.
Thanks for the idea!
Nice build, but just for security I'd add 5A fuse in between that wire to back. Just in case that Amazon converter goes bad. Also I'm a little concerned to leave that thing powered up for 24/7.
That is a good idea, although I guess that if it did fail, it'll just pop the fuse for the cigarette lighter as a safety mechanism.
Is this still available and could you ship it to Europe, Lithuania?
very cool, are you planning to make them in different colors to match the trim? also, once it’s installed, is there a way to remove it?
For now, they are dyed black with UV resistant coating, but they can be painted. To remove, just use a plastic trim tool from one side!
How long is the shipping?
Hey! do you think you could make a version of this with a 12v to 9v/2a converter (instead of the 12v to 5v converter it comes with currently) for fast charging? Thanks
I'll look into this! thanks for the feedback
@@TheBimmerBarn sweet thanks!
the radio / headunit did not have any extra powered usb ports?
It does have USB ports, but they're made for data transfer, and charge verrrryyy slowlllyyyy
Is the inverter included in the kit you sell?
Yeah! With the connectors, correct length wire, etc. I figure most people don't have a 3d printer, so I can just print and build them and all you have to do is install it!
@@TheBimmerBarn great, thanks! I just purchased one. What about the epoxy? Do I buy that separately?
@@thrty8street No sorry, let me explain; I assemble everything myself, all you have to do is take apart your car and tap the wires! The power inverter comes installed in the faceplate already 👍
@@TheBimmerBarn got it! Thanks
What's the charge rate?
Link in the description, they're on sale right now! 😉
