I really wish they would, but it seems it is not just endemic to the US. Happens all around the world :(
American here. There is an apparent lack of understanding of some, not all of these tourists that these are indeed serving members of the British crown doing a given job and not just existing as a tourist attraction. Sad fact but true.

The overwhelming influx of unruly tourists & shocking disrespect to authority is alarming.
ORMONDE earned the title KING & the respect he deserved with his DEFENSIVE BEHAVIOR. It’s a behavior that will keep you away & when pushed to the limit, he will bite or kick you to defend the space you invaded. If you backed off, he wouldn’t come to you at all. He will let you be as long as you let him be!

I fully support the gatesman as he did warn them before he pushed his way through. Even if they did not understand, surely the yell would have made them move. I believe society today has become too self-centred and not being more aware of their surroundings and the significance of the horse guards. I believe teachers should have educated them before bringing them there.
The teachers should know the routine and learn to keep the way clear. It is possible the students were told but it happens pretty fast.
There was really very little warning time and the gatesman was behind them blocked by others in the crowd and moving silently until that time.
Yes, students should be more aware, but look how young they are.

Like you said John this is a total dream team I love this Trooper on Ormonde he looks so chill but you know he is totally aware of everything going on around him and who is approaching his beautiful horse.
It may be sad for Ormond but the cushiest 55 minutes for the trooper on top. No pesky tourists and a lovely calm horse.

Lol John the question is not does anyone love him, but does Ormonde like anyone? He is the most anit-social horse, if he was human I'm sure he would be a hermit. He is however very entertaining to watch at a safe distance and anyone who enters his personel space is sure to pay the price. Long live King Ormonde.
I’m sure most people would be considered anti-social, if you had strangers pushing into your personal space for their own gratification photos. Constantly.. tourists have no respect for the soldiers on duty or the animals involved in that duty. They treat it like Disney attraction cosplay.After days of duty sitting outside not moving, my preferred horse would be the one that the tourists never wanted to be near.

But my reference to him being anti-social is the fact he is an equal opportunity biter he will have a go at the troopers, CoH, I have even seen the captains keep their distance from him, no one invades his personel space unless he wants them to.

I do wish that people who are obviously nervous.Of horses Would. just stay away from them. flapping your finger round the horse's face just makes them nervous and could cause a problem. I personally am nervous of Horses and would just Keep my distance.

The halter on the right side of Ormonde’s face looks loose.
If he looks at you straight on, you can see where the halter on his right side of his face bows outward while the other is close to his face. He looks so tired today. His head is down and his eyes look like he could go to sleep.
People look at the Guard as if he’s to blame when Ormonde reaches over to take a nibble. Little do they know that this saucy horse needs no instruction. He has a mind of his own! 🤣

I mean you look at him and you know which horse it is. The gateman burst through the Maginot Line, just as the Entente Cordiale between GB and France is celebrated on Monday (120 years of peace between the two countries)😅 On another channel I watched a group of French gendarmes led by a tall British Royal Cavalry officer coming out of the gates of Buckingham Palace yesterday, being all starry-eyed (they had been probably taken on a tour) looking back the palace and at all the many tourists that were there, milling in front of the palace, near the great fountain. The officer was taking them to the Wellington barracks, just across the street, where they were met by other British officers. As part of the celebrations, i understood the gendarmes will do ceremonial duty at Buckingham Palace, while some British officers will do ceremonial duty at the Elysée Palace.(i'm sure Mr. Macron is also starry-eyed when he sees them)🤩🤩I'm sorry but they gave me "The gendarmes in America" movie vibes (starring the late and much-regretted French actor Louis de Funes)🤣🤣

I've noticed over time with Ormonde is, most of the time, if you approach Ormonde straight on, he doesn't bite at you, but if you go to his sides, he does. So far today, people aren't getting close enough for him to get started. Maybe as the video goes along, he'll get started. The passive Ormonde won't last. Lol! Glad to see him

The COH knows him well 😂😂😂. I think Buska has a video where he tries it on with the COH who gives him a long hard look and waves a warning finger at him 😂. Ormonde drops his head almost with a sigh " ok Boss " 😇😇😇. Pity about the rain but that's British weather for you ! Your battery just made it . Hello, John. I’ve often wondered: 1.) What triggers the Guard to come out front, & 2.) What do they chat about with the troopers? I really got a kick out of Ormonde @31:43 who just looked like he was daring someone to step up and mess with him 🤣🤣.
It should be made clear to all students etc that these are professional service men and women on duty, they have to give way to them.
