Fun fact and currently, there’s not much tourists in Paris due the Olympics installations.
The mood there is pretty bad 😂
Either way, as you know our team England made to the Finals again. Back to back like 4 years ago. Such devotion from our Lions.
They’re facing Spain which it has more chances to win the Euro
Just because they’ré favorite that doesn’t mean we should get back down
We can’t afford to lose it again. We’ve come this far for the second.
Full support to our team England. It’s coming home
Hi John, i am from Belgium and it is now for the 89th time the Belgian military come to honour the fallen Belgian soldiers in WW1 and to maintain the good friendschip with both countries, Belgium is the only country that has the right to come onthe defilé armed, it is always done 1 week before our nationale day 21 july , it began first when our King Albert 1 died (1934) and his nephew King George V honoured tbe Belgians with a anual parade .
Thank you for explaining.
Really interesting. Never knew how close our nations were back then
Long live the Belgium and it’s Monarchy and Royal Family.
Sorry for your lost against France inthe
It’s always good to hear the history thank you 🙏
The Anglo-Belgian Memorial, also known as the Belgian Gratitude Memorial, Belgian Refugees Memorial, or the Belgian Monument to the British Nation, is a war memorial on Victoria Embankment in London, opposite Cleopatra's Needle. It was a gift from Belgium, as a mark of thanks for assistance given by the UK during the First World War, and in particular for sheltering thousands of Belgian refugees who fled from the war. It is a Grade II* listed building.
My Mum always wanted a womens memorial but sadly she didn’t live to see this. I have been to see it a few times now and know she would be very pleased and proud that it’s there just along from the Cenotaph. Mum was a nurse during the war working in London during the blitz.
The light green and red caps are para commando's, the blue ones are logistics, and brown are fusiliers and black caps are artillery regiments. I'm not sure if the last two ones are attending. Nice to see Belgians on par. We have a long history together with the UK. From the battle of Waterloo, also there were soldiers from the Netherlands, that's why some of your regiments have Dutch city names. Like Nijmegen in the Cold stream Guards. 19:09 there is my former regiment, brown cap and red sticker, I feel proud now. You made my day John.
Thanks for explaining the differences and such. Thank you for your service (from across the pond)
That was moving to see. Thank you, John for filming even though it wasn’t what you planned. I love the friendship your country extends to their allies. The welcome and continued respect for their armed forces is amazing. Thank you for showing us the loyalty Great Britain exhibits. Admirable.
Splendid John, although you couldn't get to the horse's it was lovely just watching them being very good and not letting our Magnificent Troopers down😊❤ thank you John Stay Safe ❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧
John it wasn't a total loss we got to see the Belgians Parade. It was cool to see
John. This is an annual event. The Belgians are honoured with a Cenotaph service because of the help they gave to Britain during the 2nd world war.
It was first held in 1934, after the death that year of Albert, King of the Belgians, so predates WW2. It was granted for the resistance of the Belgian Army, led by King Albert of Belgium, to the German forces in WW1. Belgium was technically neutral in 1914 but when Germany advised the Belgian government they intended to "march through" Belgium to invade France, the Belgian government refused and put up resistance, holding up the German forces who thought they'd be in Paris within 5 days. That didn't happen, thanks to Belgian resistance, allowing France, and then British forces, time to assemble and deploy troops.
This is why I love your channel, John. Events may happen that you hadn’t known about, but rather than deciding not to film at all, you’re flexible enough to let us experience another piece of life through your eyes. I appreciate that so very much. Even if I were fortunate enough to visit London I wouldn’t have been able to see the many wonderful events you have shown me. Thank you!
Hesr hear bravo the gentleman thankyou
Did enjoy that this morning John . such a lot of people and those lovely two horses did us proud .love from sunny Cornwallis ❤
Thank you John for this amazing video!!! It's really great to see other country's military. I am very surprised that the soldiers marching with their swords on their shoulders!!! This was a real treat!!! 🥰🥰🥰 xxxxxx
John, thanks! It was great to see the Belgian Army and Navy, and of course the Grenadier Guards with Senior Drum Major Gareth Chambers leading them on!
Thank you for showing the celebration/memorial for the Belgium military and a chance to see the Chelsea Pensioners they looked wonderful in their red coats and tricorn hats. I love seeing the horses but this was very interesting to see.
You let us see the Belgian parade! I have never seen them before, so thank you!
That was wonderful; thank you for this new view of military season in London! Such grand respect for the military and the impact of world wars across Europe.
Please don't beat yourself up John. Even Batman didn't know everything......
627 am. Am up early because I forgot to wash my daughters swimsuit for a youth pool party after church. The only reason I remembered, I was giving her a hug and kiss goodnight she asked if I washed her swimsuit. Mind you, my son just got back from scout camp yesterday as well, so I did a load last night and put it in the dryer and am doing a load this morning. Nobody's perfect. Not even moms😂
Don’t feel too bad - even Einstein cocked up occasionally.
For the record there’s a theory that Einstein would have cocked up more frequently if it wasn’t for his first wife Mileva Maric. There’s a saying that behind every great man there’s a great woman but, in their case, it was behind every great genius there’s an even greater genius kept in the shadows.
At least we got a bit of a horsey fix - even from a distance. And, as you say, they must be relieved at not being mauled by hoards of tourists. And you did manage to video something amazing that we don’t see every day so thank you.
You always manage to get into a great position - thank you for this 😊xx
Thanks John. I think I am figuring out the geography of this part of London. I concur that the horses must be delighted to have no tourists in their faces.
As a ignorant American I had to laugh when you questioined whether Belgium had a Navy !!! My rudimentary knowledge of WW2 leads me to believe that ANTWERP is in BELGIUM is it not ??? (LOL) You gotta protect the ports !
Its going to get crazy in London today because of England paying in the finals and Stray kids the Kpop group paying at Hyde park.
I love people watching, especially when I’m not actually near the people! Thanks John!
Do people actually stand in queues just have a photo taken at a phone box. 😂
I guess if you’re a tourist in London, yeah. They are iconic. Why? TV and movies, I suppose. Dr. Who? Then people may also connect because of “Superman” out in the US. Nostalgia, even more than just history. Makes sense. What I don’t understand is the six model-like poses some take, lol.
There are very talented military troopers there they should be proud
John only maybe a minute or so as you turned to leave, both horses had an unsettling moment when the band marched passed them. I noticed that because the front was devoid of tourists, during the Guard change the CoH was able to walk right out to the edge of the footpath to execute his orders. Thanks John. kiwi 😊
I love London City Walks so knowledgeable! I also love the Black Taxi ' s I want one so cute .
Tnks John, I have seen Belgium soldiers before they have so much respect for countries that fought with them i
Don't worry John we all have our moments ! Thanks for continuing to film and show us something I don't think many of us knew happens here the Belgians honouring those who fought for peace an education for us .
I'm just about to settle down to watch Wimbledon Mens Final , Alcares , Spain against Djokovic , Serbia . Then the football tonight , not a huge football fan but I'll probably watch , Spain might have a double celebration tonight , who knows ! Have a good day 😀
Good to learn the history of the parade. Thanks for filming it John
All good John, really enjoyed the footage you did get ☺
and the Household Cavalry have a special bond with belgium . On the site where the memorial to the "Royal Household Cavalry" now stands, Lieutenant Charles Sackville Pelham, Lord Worsley (° 14-8-1887) was killed on October 30, 1914.
Worsley was a British nobleman, officer and brother-in-law of Douglas Haig, later commander-in-chief of the British forces on the Western Front.
Pelham was commander of a machine gun section of the C squadron of the Royal Horse Gards at that time. During the heavy fighting around the hill in Zandvoorde ( belgium)on October 30, 1914, the group is isolated so that they do not receive the order to withdraw, they fight until the last man is killed. 120 men. After the battle, Worsley and the others were buried by the Germans and an officer posted the exact location of his grave.
I am speechless with respect for their courage.
Members of the Household Cavalry were in Zandvoorde and Ypres in May to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the inauguration of the memorial column to the Royal Household Cavalry.
London often throws up unexpected ceremonies. Thank you for filming this.
It is right and fitting we are reminded of Belgium's role in WW1 & 2 both their armed forces and civilians. Thank you.
I thought watching the pass was wonderful! I appreciate that you "rolled with the punches", so to speak. Plus, we still got to see the horses, even if it was across the street!
*parade, not pass
I would have to live in the Cotswolds or somewhere quiet. So many people.
The Guards Band played Marche de I'École Royale Militaire Belge as they led the parade away from the Cenotaph. The parade actually came up King Charles Street for the start of the ceremony.
Total treat for Military music this weekend, brilliant 😊
🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧💙💜🩵🐎🐎🐎
Wonderful to see tradition and remembrance alive and well in London without woke protesters disturbing the ceremony. Thanks John
great job capturing this, John! I bet the Life Guards enjoyed the view
Wow, P90's. Bit different. 19:00
Thanks - I wondered what the hell they were.
The funny thing I picked up was, not only were most of the public walking to the beat of the band but when u got to horse Gaurds, I heard someone say, with a bit of a laugh "This happens every Saturday " lol
Sending love to you all ❤️
This was a nice change of watching today John. Well done.
You are only human John anyone can make a mistake. People will forgive you for the mistake. Have a wonderful Sunday from 🇺🇲.
what is so special about those phone boxes.
They are wonderful with so much history !
We had one in Laguna Beach , California.
Honours all our service personnel man, women, young and veterans
Well, you’ve had a great Saturday outside Horseguards. Don’t worry, they will be there the next time you’ll walk along! Enjoy the game tonight!!!
Why are the Belgium at our cenotaph doing a rememberance service?

There are not flags they are called Standards
John, whatever you show us is always interesting love it 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Tourism is an important part of an economy. I just have hope that around the world people do watch these kind of videos so that we all can understand how awful we sometimes behave. Courtesy isn't common. Sense isn't common. You demonstrate that both can occur. Keep on not dying, John, lol. I share your videos with many and I try not to be a jerk. Also, I really enjoying seeing London from your perspective.
Hi John. Linda from Florida. This was a rare treat today. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Very impressive!
You Brit’s have the best Military bands I’ve ever heard, truly.
Morning john, you are far from an idiot lol and im a rugby fan so spain to win 😂 and outstanding footage!
I’m glad that I went in May but miss London!
Thankyou for filming
Sorry guards was closed but the parade was lovely John. ❤
That large party of dignitaries walking off, as you arrived, John, included the King and Queen of Belgium and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.
It was the invasion of Belgium which prompted the UK entering World War One. They parade in London every year and are the only foreign contingent to be allowed to bear arms with colours flying without permission of the crown.
Hi John, You mentioned in a previous video that the number 9 bus was a good bus to tour the city. Does that bus make a circuitous route? I'm in a wheelchair and wouldn't want to get stranded. Thank you so much for your videos!
Seems awfully funny to me that so many tourists want a picture in a phone booth....have they never seen one?
The 20 somethings of America haven't unless they are from some really remote place. AND those red phone booths have become very special to a lot folks because of one very special TV show.😀
@yuckfoo9638, they are certainly different from what we used to have in my country
I’m surprised John that you didn’t realize or know about the parade! You are usually very knowledgeable about happenings in London!
We've all done it, John..
I never mind what you post, its always a plus. You could wander into a free museum in London and be very satisfied.
What a strange way that some of them marched, especially the lady officer.
Had to laugh at your caption, John/ ribbing yourself
hey john oh dear silly man not realising horse guards is closed 😂😂
Morning John hope you have a great day
Good weather there 😌
So do the Kings Guard/ Military just do Parades whenever? I don't understand why they are always out and about.
Interesting John Thank you: Kiwi
Hi John that’s really quite special that we honour them
The horses would be used to marching activity so no problem there. Thanks John for this interesting video.
Good morning John xxxx
Female Captain or Lieutenant (Navy) was "Bear Walking."
19:30 For Gawd's sake woman, get in step! Call yourself an officer. What an example to set your young cadets behind you.
That was odd wasn't it?
😂thanks John
Did see that the 2 horses at the front played up slightly when the band went through horseguards.
Surprisingly the ones lined up in the yard appeared not to.
Belgium is right across the channel...;)...why Belgium "navy"..;)
Tell me do the phone in the phone booths still work ?
Did you spot the Navy woman tick tocking
spain 2-england 1😉
Belgium Airforce ?😊
1st 😂 OOPS
Not to sound mean stop filming for sec and be aware of your surroundings. You even said it yourself why is there barricades
Spain won
You missed it John. One of the other u tuber was on time and got it .
Thought beating of the retreat was done, i watched videos of it yesterday. Or does it go on over a week.
You were probably watching videos of trooping of the colour
There was a Royal Marines Beating the Retreat last week
@@charlottecunningham2141Defo beating the retreat.
@@kathellison8084
That was probably it.
Royal Marines do their own "Beating the Retreat" ceremonial performances every two years and that was what you saw and the Household Cavalry do theirs this coming week (that's annual). The Royal Marines Band was fabulous and I loved the female RM who sang both "May it Be" and "I Vow to Thee, My Country".
Why does it take so long to take a photo, very annoying?
This many people....they are looking for places to relocate if trump doesn't win 2024....😮. Good morning everyone. ❤🎉
That's for sure
It some cases it might if he does.
@vmcougarintn5035 lol, people say that but they never leave.
God bless them all. X
