- Before you buy this truck bed extender, be sure to watch our review to see if it is actually compatible with your truck. If it is, this can be an excellent way to safely transport your kayak!

Mine’s similar but uses receiver hitch pins and reaches above the tailgate from the OEM Ford receiver. I’ve hauled 20 foot rebar supported by a closed 40 foot ladder with an 8 foot bed. They do compromise angle of departure so be careful backing off a ramp. I had to drill a weep hole near the elbow because stood up against a tree ice bulged the square tube a little. By notching one end of the Tee I’m able to hitch pin the L inside the Tee for transport
Excellent video! After I saw your video yesterday, I went to Harbor Freight and bought one. I will set it up tonight.
Loved the mention of SF and Duluth! I’ve always felt that the two are so similar yet each in such separate different worlds!
Nice to hear of another person who knows about both places and also an outdoors rig/equipment review as well!
You and CZcams comes through again thanks. I need a Easter way to hall my kayak, just to heavy for me to put on top of my suv
Thanks for the great advice, I just bought one based on your advice.
Great review!
I've only got a 5.5 foot bed so this was a must. Hauled 600 pounds of purlin and 12 foot sheets of r panel
Glad it worked for you! Can’t beat the price!
Good thing is that the adapter is sold at there too! LOL But that adapter has a lot of usage! It allows you to tow something, and still put a carrier for a large ice chest!
I just got this for my son's truck so he can carry his small crawdad Coleman boat to his ome to work on. Full-watch (twice). Thanks 👍🏽🤠 8/18/22
The Tundra is the primary truck for hauling water craft and for the occasional sasquatch hunting trip.
The bed extended will hold up to the weight of Sasquatch loins!
Would this work for a canoe?
Bought this to flip with the long edge up to carry a long kayak on my soft top Jeep Wrangler. Didn't even unbox it, went straight to store and bought my kayak. Was a little fun loading when I unboxed and saw the pin on the short side was only around a quarter inch thick and not going to accept a hitch pin. I only needed to go 5 miles so I figured out a temp way to get it home and then proceeded to drill the holes on the short side out to be able to accept a full size hitch pin.
Thanks for the great review. I have 2016 Tundra and was wondering if I would have any issues purchasing the HF extender to haul my new 13.5’ kayak. The Kayak sales guy, who has a Tundra, said he uses a Boonedox Tbone for his 14’ Hobie. A bit pricey, but I am leaning that way.
Think I’m gonna pick one of these up for my ranger. I’ll throw a set of led trailer lights on it and plug it into my trailer light plug. Then I can haul my canoe in my bed instead of on top.
Great idea!
Great video! Do you have a link for the LED light you talked about?
Good points . Thx
His hitch must be lower than mine, because with the adjustments holes I can set mine level with the bed. Also, the length of the extender is the maximum allowed by law. FYI
Your clutch bro. Needed those measurements!
I also have a tundra and when I added to the trailer hitch and see how low compared the tailgate was crazy. Did anyone add any wood to theirs to raise it up?
It would be nice if you had told us how high it does come up so we could tell if it works without the hitch riser.
Jerold, if I did that, you wouldn't have commented and it wouldn't have helped the algorithm. Just kidding. I'll work on getting that measurement for you!

5:06 You can clearly see that the extender is now 10" higher than the truck bed.
But the tailgate appears to slant upward.
As an amateur welder I'd have to say those welds are aweful. I've seen alot of mass produced products and even though these functionally seem sound. I need to tell you that the only way those welds get any prettier in my eyes is after a few drinks at the bar.
2022 Toyota Tacoma, extender height not even close to sufficient without modifications. $79.99. Nov 2022
I'm shocked its still the same price
Menards has a better one for 88$. Also take note he said 46” between tie downs. (Hint: plywood, drywall…etc)
Thanks!
Do you have a link? Perhaps Menard's no longer carries it?
Flip the kayak upside down placing the kayak’s flat side down against the pool noodles . Is is more secure and the rocking motion is eliminated . Use quality 1” racket straps not Garbage Freight straps .
Lol to funny bottom line you get what you pay for if you want cheap and good make one yourself
