Very nice and thorough video. Great work!
Great video. Finally someone did one with a tonneau cover as that is what I am going to do. Glad you put stabilizer on. I hate rattles and noise. Those pins I would have to put thread insets and bolts to connect the pieces. Well done
Glad the video provided some clarity with the cover installed. Yeah, the rattle would definitely be a bit annoying - thanks for watching!
Good video
Thank you!
Oh that's cool
I really miss the days when I could jump in a truck bed like that !
My jumping days may be coming to an end lol
I like it. A question. I'm likely to get a diamondback HD hardcover, so I could not open the cover to create a taller space to accommodate a higher boat. Do you think a canoe would fit inside the normal height of a covered pickup bed? A kayak? Thanks.
I would just ensure you get measurements that fit your truck!
How long is that kayak? And how far does the hitch extend?
12 ft kayak & the hitch extends about 5ft out!
Your hitch stabilizer was installed completely and totally incorrectly…
I did notice that after installing it was a bit wobbly. I was going off of how the Mockins video had it, oh well it was fine during the multiple trips I took it on!
please advise, what reference should I be looking at to install the hitch stabilizer correctly, the instructions Mockins provides is vague?
@@timk2189 Install it like I did, with the lip facing up - the only correction is to make sure the U-bolt is flush against the hitch receiver
Please do not use a ratchet strap you will damage your kayak especially in the summer time. If you want to use a strap use the one you pull by hand. I and a bunch of fishing buddies have destroyed kayaks even leaving slack.
You're totally right, after multiple uses I can see how ratchets could potentially damage the kayak. I will definitely look into the self tightening straps!
Been ratcheting my kayak for 6 years… the key is to not over thighten.. just enough to get the slack off.. and take any tension off when you have arrived to your destination
@@RG-bu3gz I have not used the extender yet, what is the exact cause/effect of the damage that I should be afraid of, is it the excessive tension to the kayak body that causes an indent?
The damage concern was referring to the Ratchet Straps I used in the video. Don't worry too much about it, as long as you don't over ratchet, the kayak will be fine. I still use it to this day and no issues. The extender itself will not cause damage to the kayak, you can even put pool noodles on the vertical posts if you're worried about scratches.
