Mine’s similar but uses receiver hitch pins and reaches above the tailgate from the OEM Ford receiver. I’ve hauled 20 foot rebar supported by a closed 40 foot ladder with an 8 foot bed. They do compromise angle of departure so be careful backing off a ramp. I had to drill a weep hole near the elbow because stood up against a tree ice bulged the square tube a little. By notching one end of the Tee I’m able to hitch pin the L inside the Tee for transport

Good thing is that the adapter is sold at there too! LOL But that adapter has a lot of usage! It allows you to tow something, and still put a carrier for a large ice chest!

There is a better way. If your ice auger is 8" in diameter cut out two 1/2" x 8" diameter pieces of foam, these will get glued together to form a piece 1" thick. Then cut out two 1/2" x 12" diameter pieces of foam and again glue them together to be 1" thick, then you are going to center the 1" x 8" on the 1" x 12" piece and glue them together. This will allow the smaller diameter of the foam cover to fit snuggly inside the hole in the ice(clear all snow away from around the hole) and the 1" x 12" will sit on the ice surface for the ultimate ZERO freeze protection even in Alaska's Arctic temperatures. Do not forget to cut a slit in the foam and a tiny central hole for the tip up to pass through. You could also make the foam slightly oversized for the hole say 8.5" in diameter and glue 4 circle together for 2" thick piece of foam then wedge the foam plug down into the hole in the ice for a tight seal as the foam is slightly oversized and being wedge in will keep it from lifting up from buoyancy.

Bought this to flip with the long edge up to carry a long kayak on my soft top Jeep Wrangler. Didn't even unbox it, went straight to store and bought my kayak. Was a little fun loading when I unboxed and saw the pin on the short side was only around a quarter inch thick and not going to accept a hitch pin. I only needed to go 5 miles so I figured out a temp way to get it home and then proceeded to drill the holes on the short side out to be able to accept a full size hitch pin.

I sure will try that.. I have the lews Mach 2 bait caster and I’m using 30 lb braid and it keeps happening and I’m so frustrated

I want to solder all of my tip ups. I absolutely hate when the braid unspools itself. I tried soldering mine but the shaft is not accepting the solder. What is the trick? Did you have to sand the chrome off of the shaft or anything prior to soldering? Did you disassemble the shaft to solder or can you do it with it assembled. Any help is appreciated. I think it would be a cool How-To video if you ever have the time.

This is my favourite ice jigging lure and I also had several Jigging Rap with broken tails. I had solve this problem with adding a little bid of lurex instead of plastic tail. The length of lurex should be +\- as a length of plastic tail. And it works perfect!

Mine got shredded .it froze into the sides of the hole. And it came out in chunks in my ice castle

Ok to point out the flaws , but solutions should be part of your video.

Epoxy the tails, it eliminates lost tails entirely. I once lost 9 tails in a span of an hour or two . I was so mad i emailed Rapala from the middle of the lake I was on. I take a toothpick and 5-minute two part epoxy and glue the underside of the tails and make sure your slurry covers the hook on the underside of the tails. No more problems. Note - the flat rap has the same problem.

Funny you said "big bait catches big fish".. I agree with that in most cases...but my biggest pike in 40 years of fishing was March 5 2022...it was 51.75 inches long (we have a great vid on you tube)...it was caught on a pickerel rig with 6lb snelled trout hooks tied to 8lb line...baited with a small dead minnow...4 feet of water...33 inches of ice...was interesting (can you say Murphy's law)...we landed it though...caught in a canadian rockies lake in alberta... Flip the kayak upside down placing the kayak’s flat side down against the pool noodles . Is is more secure and the rocking motion is eliminated . Use quality 1” racket straps not Garbage Freight straps .
