Thank you very much for this! I had this same problem when I bought a SanDisk external drive two years ago. I called up customer service and all they could say was that the cable was defective, or something like that. I came across the drive again, tried it with a different cable but the problem persisted - it was showing on Device Manager but not on File Explorer. Now it finally works thanks to you!

Could not figure it out with Scandisk's explanation. The 22TB Sandisk G drive Pro ends up as a 20 TB drive. It seems to lose 2TB in the Windows reformat.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I was having such a hard time getting my new G-Drive to work and I was getting so frustrated since I'd spent so much money on it. I'm so happy I have somewhere to put all my files next time my computer breaks (again) Thank you so much again! (The only thing I'm upset about now is that even though it was sold as a 4TB memory card it only has 3.6TB.)

ExFAT is a non-journaled file system. Note that if the drive is unplugged without a proper eject, then the drive file system may be damaged and it could take hours before showing up on a macOS desktop while the macOS silently repairs the file system.
