as a solo game dev i use premade assets all the time because the one thing i love about game development is the coding. i have been learning tools to make my own assets but i still love the programming aspect more so i spend a 11 hours making the maps using premade assets then the next months working on ui and coding
And you are perfectly fine. Solo devs are expected and SHOULD use pre-fabs and AI to multiply your output. It's just how to prosper as a single dev.
Now some drooldrinkers will cry and whine about it, so I suggest you be blatantly clear that you use them, because apparently people can't grasp the concept of why the asset store exists.
And I just have this feeling that if you were going to show off your game, you would have more to show than solely assets, which this game really doesnt seem to, and that is the point that is being made.
Yes, which is exactly what assets are for! I hope "assets are always bad" isn't what people are picking up from these videos, because it's more subtle than that. I've seen a lot of super creative games from solo devs that use assets. It's like.... maybe a good analogy would be you can be a really good ice skater even if you're using rental skates, but you wouldn't see someone competing at high level who uses rental skates. They would have their own. Someone claiming to be a high level competition skater who doesn't own their own skates is almost certainly lying to you but someone saying they skate a lot and can do some specific skills who doesn't own their own skates might just not have enough money or the ability to attract a sponsor or whatever. Solo devs aren't selling their games that use assets for $70 and claiming to be WoW killers.

As a Environment Artist in the Game industry, I can tell you 100% that this is a scam. Throwing assets together into an engine can give you some footage and screen shots but not a game. Many of these assets you can get ripped for free off of illigitimate websites, you dont even need to purchase them.
i also think the any way that they can prove it is sending a random youtuber a demo or something like that
I was thinking that there's no way these guys invested what seems like a few thousand dollars worth of assets into the scam, these must be pirated.
So disappointed by the day before, at what point did you realize that game was fake?
Don't you need to buy assets to use them in a commercial setting, like promoting a video game? I'd assume it'd be an instant lawsuit if they didn't hold the license.
@@franklinnartz1381 if the company is already fake, who are they going to file a lawsuit against exactly lol
Bare in mind that when talking about the cash shop system of the prior game the translation for their mtx policy was not to affect the power against other players (read PVP balancing) and to take actions to ensure the in game economy remained balanced. The packages listed go onto be fill of completely insane things but they do adhere to their own policy.
small correction: you absolutely can test if your game can handle that many players, without actually having that many people playing the game, though I doubt that they did. That kind of load testing can pretty easily be done by having a bunch of containers just simulate the traffic. But it would require some serious infrastructure and a dedicated server instance, which I doubt they have. Unity actually supports this and it would be quite performant if you implement it correctly with DOTS, but even though the server could handle it, every player would need to have some serious networking equipment to be able to handle that sort of traffic. it would simply clog your bandwidth.
Thats very true, tho if they would actually do that why not show it, the issue is more abou that its all talk and no show

2:46 yo I actually recognize this specific asset from the Unity Store. The creator is a GOD at making particle effects. The scene shown here is a demo scene made by the creator of the asset, the environment, the character, etc.
You can see a "Previous Effect"/"Next Effect" button. Made to demonstrate each effect in the demo project.
This leads to my next point. Many demo scene comes prepackaged with their own "mechanics" to demonstrate how the demo works. So a basic character controller or combat module may be included. So a big issue is using this jank code that wasn't intended to be used in a real game. That leads to yet another issue where you have a hodge podge of different pieces of code but none of it is "cohesive" if that makes sense.
It's a Frankenstein Monster of CODE that will be buggy forever and never really work properly

The Day Before did us all a huge favor. It's opened our eyes, and better yet, the eyes of the people who will take the time to dig in into this kind of thing. This type of huge potential game by not so well-known developers will be picked apart from now on to determine whether they really are too good to be true. It's a win-win. This is part of the trick. See it is shown on steam but they are not using that for the beta which has all the monetization forcing users to go around the steam store. It's ingenious tbh, you get the popularity from steam without the customer security from it.

No. ByNoGame is RMT website that survives with commission. You buy/sell gold and items in an mmo and they take commission out of it. They can't get commission from a game that doesn't exist. They are not partnered with Quinfall, they were partnered with Kayra online. Kayra was an actuall game for a while. I played the Beta. Then it got closed because it was underdeveloped. Now they want to scam without an actuall game so ByNoGame is not interested on that.

Why? 95% western adult 3D games are asset flips from daz3D store and people happily plays them. So who's to judge if game using assets from store should or not should be on the store?
Steam game reviews are... a thing. u do realize that coolant change is a real thing right? its not like head light fluid...
nah you need your blinker fluid changed
@@coldlife2002 yes I do but oil change is so well known that most of the mechanics that I went to/ other people went to have started going to coolant change.
oil change is well known cause..um..thats a real one too hehe
The old green sh!t is highly corrosive after a while, and since most engines now a days have many aluminum and plastic parts is pretty much why most vehicle manufacturers stepped away from it, the Dex-cool turns into something like curdled milk and starts clogging everything, there's other types and all act different with age. Some people probably really do need their coolant flushed cause let's face it, most / some people are bad at maintaining sh!t, period.
This whole situation seems like a scam, cause it is, it's more like Peter Griffin buying Volcano insurance then " You Need A Coolant Change ".
1:57 That's some funny shit. "Fuck his eyebrows!" LOL
I like how you concentrated the discord into camps. I mean mein kampf. I mean this isnt mein bathroom
"let's give them the biggest benefit of the doubt."
There is no doubt. They get no benefit.
Reminds me of the time I bought a picture frame and left the fake family in it because they looked better.
this comment lmao 🤣
Likely made using the Atavism online MMORPG framework that is also on the Unity Asset Store. Probably also using worldstreamer to get that 10k km world map they're talking about too. Toss in a couple of other plugins and assets, you can pretty much have the ground work for an MMO in no time. These people are not game developers.
The part at 2:00 made me reminisce about how great unban requests were
People haven't even realized it says "PURCHASED REGIONS" on the menu! they are putting the map behind paywall meaning to get to the next zone you probably have to buy the next zone!
BRO they are doing the same thing like Wizard101 💀💀💀
@@misterbuck1242 crazy
Here's the thing. If you're a small game developer then just make a small game. Shout out to Jusant. If the game is good, you get more investors and you can make bigger games. If you try and claim that you can make some massive game right off the bat... I'm so sorry. You can't. You can't do that.
Everybody that built a race car endured numerous incidents of it crashing, lighting on fire, exploding or all three. Space X has been pretty great because they do a mission and say, 'Hey, this is really cool and our rocket is probably going to fucking explode.' Now, after numerous failures, they can deliver astronauts to the ISS.
You can fail as a small company. You can fail as a large company if you say, 'Hey, we're just testing some crazy shit.' Every controversy in gaming history isn't about failure. It's about lying and fraud. Cyberpunk and No Man's Sky escaped this trap because everyone can see with their own eyes how many hours were put into making the game. They said, 'Hey, we failed. It's sad. But we still want to make a great game, so stay tuned.' And they fucking did it, too.
sea of stars really good game too
So even the interior company photo is a modified asset.
The shield at 4:00 is the same as in Craftopia :)
the thing that really gets me with this is not that they are using assets, it is that the assets are just the demo setup imported and then they take a screenshot. they could very well have some interesting back end tech for the mmo, but the entire front end of the game is just copy pasted assets packs with 0 effort.
Yeah exactly, people are acting like using the assets is what's wrong by itself. It's not. There are a lot of no budget indie games that use assets but they have their own coding and their own narrative and sometimes their own voice acting and so on. That's completely okay to do, not everyone is good at making these things and if you're making a game by yourself in your spare time you don't have money to hire someone to do the graphics for you. It's the assets *combined* with everything else they're doing and saying that makes it looks really shady. There's no way a company as competent as they're claiming to be would be using purchased assets with so few modifications, they would hire people who could do really great assets in house to go along with everything else good in the game.
Bro its so fucking hilarious how salty people get toward you when they don't agree with what you're saying, people are actually pathetic XD
20:00 But bruh this was only a placeholder until they work on their logo obviously !
So I'm in the games discord to keep an eye on it, I had no idea about any drama going on but them begging people to get more people in the discord over showing us anything is a bad sign
That's why I always buy games after a month or so for me to be able to see if it's going to be worth my time.
As I said in the previous video, MMO-fans are probably the boomers of the gaming community. They get easily baited and if you show them proof that they're wrong, they turn a blind-eye and get angry if you try to point it out.
To add, if I see a no-name game studio creating an ambitious MMO, it's an automatic red flag for me unless you've created a studio filled with big-name people with experience (like Greg Street's new studio).
Earth 2 is real and coming out any day
The boomers of the gaming community don't even know what The Quinfall is. No, I think it's mostly the young who get baited for this. EDIT: I'm a gaming boomer and I had no idea what this is. Only learned about it because I watched this video.
yeah I definitely believe they are making wallpapers and showcases of placeholders
Bro said eff yo eye brows! That’s Wild
The curse of the "*fall" game remains unbroken
Yep, the first sign of a scam.
to prove their game exist and to fight accusations they should send you whatever they got to play.
it's that simple
Well, that escalated quickly.
Its almost like they didn't even bother to hide it.
32:20 I like how he knew Asmon would react to it XD
editors, the title of the next monster hunter gameplay video should be something like "Tackle changed my life"
👀
Lmao these devs saw how The Day Before went and were like "hold my stock image beer"
*Hold my Unity assets*
That IKEA store simile is actually funny as hell.
they partner up with the website that sells items, so that once the game has been completed, their GM's or Admins can generate ingame items at will, undercutting anyone and raking in the money
How does someone have the blind confidence to just lie like that so blatantly and think it's completely fine?
They want the game to be real so they've huffed so much copium that it has clearly affected their motor functions
3rd world
Money
They have no morals. They just want money
Some unfortunately still fell for that blind confidence. It’s like the Nigerian prince scam mails that, even though it’s riddled with basic grammatical errors, still caught quite a number of victims.
"IN TURKEY THEY SPEAK TURKEY!" - Our Meme Lord Asmongold - 😂😂😂
Gobble-gobble-gobble 😂😂😂
the website and social media graphics are all 1:1 the same as bdo. new posts show the UI which is exactly the same as the new bdo player UI. the font and logos are all the same as bdo, and even some of the locations look like the exact same places. i play a lot of bdo so finding out that quinfall is just "we have bdo at home" is both hilarious but confusing to me what a rabbit hole lmao -
They are using that as a place holder image for the office they don't currently have 🤣
