    My window seal broke a while ago, so the glass was all cloudy. The window companies wanted to charge me $325 per window to fix it, and you helped me do it by myself for maybe $75. Amazing! I am so grateful.

      @@onlywenilaugh6589 there was a shop near me called Peninsula Glass. Or One Day Glass. They were 28x20, so not very small. The shipping was $20 but I picked it up myself, so the total was only $75.

      Wow funny story from me bc the quotes i got for like 2 ~40 by 20 inch were around 1300 plus tax for changing out the igus. i also need to change out the arch top igu and my local glass wanted 850 or so for that piece alone!! BUT i got it for 250 from peninsula glass (one day glass) and will do that job today!! wish me luck!!

      Almost all vinyl windows will be 1 inch over the visible glass dimensions. In other words 1/2 coverage all the way around. Andersen windows are the exception to this rule. Some of theirs are 13/16 over visible glass dimensions.
      You will need a pair of calipers and a low e checker to properly measure the glass thickness and determine if it has low e coatings. Or buy a glass checker pro from edtm

    Hi Alex I have 27 vinyl replacement double hung windows( each sash has a 2 pane unit) installed 25 years ago, by a company named Thermal Industries which is out of business. 3 of the windows are leaking at the bottom corners of the bottom sashes when there are heavy rains.. the weep holes are not clogged. I see how you changed the glass unit. Please explain how to stop the leaking at the bottom corner of the bottom sash when it rains hard? They are high-quality windows. The installer is still in business and says it is time for new windows. I think they can be repaired but I don't know how . Perhaps I could silicone the edge of the glass where it meets the frame on the outside. The glazing beads on in the inside and brittle and hard to remove.

    Dude, this is awesome. I just bought a new construction house and half the windows are failing I think. When it gets super cold I see condensation in between the panes, on the top stationary portion of the window, but at the bottom of that portion. (Basically the bottom part of the top half of the window, the half that doesn’t move) If that makes sense at all. Anyway, I was freaking out thinking all the windows would need to be torn out and replaced, trim and all. So nice to know I can replace them on my own and do it right. One question though, where do you source the replacement panes? Thank YOU!

    • @AlexRubioRQualityGlass
      @AlexRubioRQualityGlass  Před 3 lety +2

      Well you should be able to google your local glass shop and to make it easy on you and them just give them the width and height of your glass size one you figure that out and you will also need the thickness of the overall unit. If it’s a vinyl window they are normally 3/4 in thick and they can make it for you and now you know you can do it yourself super easy

Dont get overly excited folks there are hundreds of different styles of windows and the stops they use. This is NOT a representation for all windows. Some done even have stops and are what is know as wrap around. Where the corners are screwed together.

      Is there any way to find out without removing the glass completely? Just want to make sure before I order the glass.

      Toy Soldier75 we use a caliper on the slider part of the window and that tell us exactly how thick it is

    Great video. What's the average charge for a repair like this? I got a double pane that's 58x46. Just preparing myself for the repair estimate. I'll find out tomorrow.

      D Briggs depends where you are at and what the market is like there but that is a fairly big window size you have there. If that is the overall size of the whole window or the actual size of just the glass that’s broken. But like the one on this video would run about $145 to $180

      It's the actual size of the glass. The first bid came into today at $678.
      I'm going to get 2 more bids.
