Thank you, i was frustrated trying to get sashes back on w hurricane Ian remnants blowing rain in here. I still had trouble with the shoe pieces accepting the foot metal & had to gently tap with a crowbar...bad protocol no doubt. But yr video saved us wet floors & cold gushers of air.
Man, this is great. We were playing in the backyard with the kids and cracked a window with a ball. Hopefully we can just replace the sash, or remove the sash and have the glass replaced.

Hi Danny. So is there a way to actually OPEN the windows to clean BETWEEN the 2 panes. I have a cat that sprayed on a window and now there is condensation between the 2 glasses. Obviously the seal is already broken or this wouldn't have happened. I hate to replace the whole window when its the bottom window only that is foggy.

so i bought this house and never opened window before... they are heavy approx 40'' x 40''.... this windows were installed in 2014.... i unlocked the sash... lifted window ...which must be like 40 plus pounds ,but it had no spring etc to help lift and falls back down ,so then i lifted it higher and the top portion came slamming down ... so what did i do wrong... i check all the windows and none of them stay open... are these windows normal??? kinda sucks i think they cost over $500 per window... any help is appreciated..

You can't remove the upper part of the window. Its a fixed piece of glass. The only thing that can be done with the upper part of the window is if the glass eventually has seal failure or if somehow the glass gets broken, the glass would have to be changed out. Actually food for thought, it is highly recommended that when windows are replaced the homeowner should buy double hung windows. That way top and bottom sashes operate and tilt in for easy cleaning. NEVER BUY SINGLE HUNG WINDOWS for your home.

They can be replaced depending on how old the window is. I would contact the manufacturer.

The title said "double hung or single hung" window. He never showed how to remove the upper fixed window in a single hung window.
You can't remove the upper part of the window. Its a fixed piece of glass. The only thing that can be done with the upper part of the window is if the glass eventually has seal failure or if somehow the glass gets broken, the glass would have to be changed out.
