  • In this video we take a look at my winterization process on a John Deere 125 Automatic riding lawn mower. These steps should apply to most pieces of outdoor power equipment that have small 4-stroke engines.
    1. Change oil
    2. Change oil filter (if applicable to small engine)
    3. Change spark plugs (if they appear fouled w/ carbon or gas)
    4. Change air filter (if visibly dirty)
    5. Drain gas & add fuel stabilizer (for remaining gas in fuel system)
    6. Disconnect battery for storage (if applicable to small engine)
Not covered in this video is blade sharpening.
Let me know if there are any steps I missed, or if you have different methods to store your small engines during the non-use season!

What is the reason you put battery on tender the night before you start it in the spring? A lot of times it starts for me if i dont even use a temder. Doesnt the alternator charge battery back up anyhow?
