  • Here are four things to focus on to help restore and increase a slow metabolism.
    Timestamps
    0:08 Insulin resistance
    0:45 Exercise
    2:35 Nourish
    2:50 Enhance the thyroid function
    3:20 What not to do
Today, we’re going to talk about metabolism and what you can do to actually increase a slow metabolism.
    How to increase metabolism:
    1. Insulin resistance
If you have plateaued with your weight, it could be because of insulin resistance. To fix this, you need to lower insulin by doing keto and intermittent fasting.
    2. Exercise
There are a lot of variables when it comes to exercise. Out of all of the variables, the intensity is the most important factor in raising your metabolism. It also stimulates growth hormone, which is the main fat-burning hormone. You want to do a full-body workout at a high-intensity level, but for a short duration with a long recovery.
    3. Nourish
You may have destroyed your metabolism by doing a low-calorie diet, which is really a low nutrient diet. To fix this, you need to consume more nutrient-dense foods.
    4. Enhance the thyroid function
To do this, you may want to consume more sea kelp, which has a lot of trace minerals. You also need to make sure you’re supporting your gallbladder, and make sure that your insulin is not too high. You would also want to avoid GMO foods.
What not to do to speed up metabolism:
You have things like caffeine, amphetamines, and ephedra that people take to stimulate metabolism. But, this can also stimulate adrenaline, which can cause adrenal fatigue, which can then lead to weight gain.

I tried to turn family members with weight and health issues on to Dr Bergs videos, mainly just for them to see a different side of things. They looked at me cross eyed and saying I’m radical for going against doctors and what is mainstream knowledge. One of them said, "if Dr Berg is so helpful why is he selling stuff online?" At that point it was time for me to quit talking to a wall and move on. Glad I’m a Dr Berg subscriber and am truly doing well with everything he suggests. Very happy I had an open mind at least.

When I come into contact with the knowledgeable, I ask for product recommendations. I’m sure Dr. Berg was faced with this and realized that the only way he could really be sure the products he recommended stayed true was to own them. I’ve explained to my family that physicians are promoting products and lifestyles that support their careers as well.
Like you, I discovered the same temperament in my family. Instead of doing their own research, they just blow him off. Now I just watch them struggle and see them in the examples of disease in Dr. Berg’s video.
They’re a circus of idiots that fail to understand the power of someone like Berg who a) knows “how” to think, not just regurgitate what the cult of the medical community spews and b) is passionate enough to keep studying long after the requirement to do so has passed, as when those Dr.s were in school.
I dropped my own doctor when he did not have any latest research he could share. They are a bunch of crooks.

clovehitch Well! That’s impressive! I am searching hard for what I’m doing incorrectly, but then again, I can be such a fanatic and probably jumped into this Keto way, whilst missing a key point. I’ve been struggling on keto and just finished a 72 hour fast a lost only 2lbs. I am realizing other health benefits, but not seeing the weight loss whatsoever. The poster child for Adrenalin fatigue. I feel so tired.
On people’s thinking - the industry has spent decades and spared no expense brainwashing people and all other industries seemingly support the trash thinking we fight against. People have to start validating what they hear. “When the student is ready, the teacher emerges.” (I forget who said that)

Yep. I've had similar reactions when I tried to steer people to Dr. Berg's videos. They all want to know how I lost the weight & how I've been keeping it off, but they can't get get on board with IF. They're uncomfortable with not eating for a few hours....so, they stay fat, whining about their fat.

Thank you so so so much for your much needed videos. May God bless you and your family :) When I actually ran and run into people at work or school who have gone through transformations that are lasting it is always Keto. Bottom line is the proof is in the pudding. Their transformations over 7 years ago have convinced me about Keto. And then my own huge transformation is more proof to me. Your videos are really helping me through any pitfalls and helping me to understand my body better. Your truly a blessing. It is really amazing how anyone can attack the Keto diet with it's huge track record of success. My family members who always attacked Keto are now obese. I'm so glad I did not listen to them and I am not obese. And even though they see my results and good health my obese cousins and aunts still are against Keto. It is as if this horrible commercial industry has really suckered people into their thinking. Even trying to call this science based proven way to eat to stay healthy a fad diet. I sometimes feel angry how people dismiss truth to just hold on to their own preconceived ideas.

Awesome! You packed in a lot of information in four minutes. I really love the whiteboard that you use. Because I take a screenshot at the end. Everything you say is really thawed out so you obviously wrote it out and removed any extraneous information. As a technical writer, I appreciate that! Your pace was perfect. And you just really come at me from my level of understanding medicine which is from laymon’s perspective.
If you really wanna bring it up a notch, you can give us a call to action of some kind. I know you said do a comment which is good. But maybe something we can do on our own immediately like schedule something into your calendar or drink a glass of water or something I don’t know anyway keep up the great work. I appreciate what you offer!

They just did a study that basically says for longevity metabolism is a good thing which kind of makes sense. Most people do not want to be fat but the Fast Metabolism is sort of like aging quickly. I'm eating one meal a day and I'm reasonably sure that my metabolism is slowing because of it but I actually like eating one meal a day I don't find it to be a sacrifice at all. It makes leaving the house in the morning a breeze and I get to take a nap during my lunch break. I've reduced my calories by at least 25% which appears to be the level of recommended by the study. I've been doing it for a couple of months and feel fine, and I'm still making gains in the gym. On the weekends I refeed. Just my two cents.

Excellent, just what I was looking for 👍
What Dr Berg means is- While doing your 45 min. HIIT Session, Do several bursts of HIIT say 60 sec on hard then one min rest, then hard then rest over the 45 min. Varying your time spent going hard to shorter burst and then one-min rest until your exhausted or your 45 min is up.
Naturally if your not fit enough yet you would not go as hard and would work up to a better fitness level before going all in. My personal advise would be start off @ 20 min sessions then building up your fitness level and duration of exercise done and intensity.
I would personally do one day on two days recovery until your feeling fitter lighter and or your breathing gets easier over time.
I did this at 20 min intervals every day for six months at 48 yrs and lost 44 lbs.
I also did 25 min of weight training each day straight after doing my HIIT as a warm up. After one week it was easier every day. 💪

We love Dr. Berg!! Dr. Berg, I thought intense exercise increased cortisol... and increased cortisol is the opposite of what we want. Do you have another video on clearing this up? I have been told i was pre-diabetic. i do intermittent fasting, nutrition is not so good (i'm working on that), i'm doing moderate exercise for 40 minutes. I'm 51 and high intensity exercise is just out of my reach at this time (but i hope to get there). I'm looking to increase my metabolism (obviously), But here, i hear you say something that i thought was something we were to avoid. Thanks!

yes i can say it's the fastest way to improve your fats burning metabolism especially when you focusing on the intensity of the exercises by including the thigh muscles in every training day, but honestly i still have a problem in the recovery part and it takes me 5 days sometimes to be able to work out again, however i think that this is due to two reasons the 1st one is because my body still didn't used to this intensity of training yet and the 2nd one is that i can't fulfill my body needs of nutrition because it's hard to manage between eating as a power lifter and the intermittent fasting diet while you aiming to regain your healthy weight.
