I don't understand the hate of the dial control... Its so easy to use and have a better response than any touch screens i've used. Not to mention the constant leaning over to reach the screen is annoying and unsafe.

We find it annoying as hell on our cx5. It's definitely not safer, very slow to use and more likely to loose focus on the road with this than a touchscreen.

I've done a test drive on the same Lexus. Bought the Mazda because its way faster and the handling its more for performance driving. Pefectly fine for normal driving too but thats just me. After 3000kms of driving and iStop being always off my fuel average is 10.2 which includes me thrashing it. I think the petrol inline 6 is very quiet and refined on the inside. Downsides are not an s mode for the shifter and the first second gears are very short. Annoys me that I need to go in menu to enable manual shift logic before a good section of road and vice versa when you want full auto again. They also need to ffs allow driver to set defaults on safety features and iStop but same goes for most manufacturers. It's a great touring car for me.

Been driving a CX60 PHEV for over a week now, urban driving as well as a trip from Brisbane to Bundaberg and back. The suspension is indeed firm, but it handles really well around corners for a two tonne car. It's a subjective thing. All the reviews about the "uncomfortable" suspension actually made me ordered the current models in case Mazda yields and softens up the suspension to compromise performance with ride.

    • @maxinlux6570

KONI adaptive dampers are for you, then! I've had the same model since August '23, surprised by the harsh ride. A couple of forums pointed me to the KONI solution, has totally transformed the ride. These's a vid or two by Koni out here, in Luxembourg the dealer ordered them and fitted them for 1.5 KEUR, about AUD 2.5K, made all the difference, improved things beyond measure without sacrificing the driving experience.

I have had the CX60 3.3l mild hybrid for 2 months now covering about 3000km. I agree the suspension and transmission needs more refinement and the fuel consumption was not as what I've expected from a mild hybrid car. In addition the software in the infotainment screen is buggy as the face recognition does not work 100% of the time. The other minor thing is also the side mirrors still fold from time to time upon locking even though I've disabled that function in my driver profile.

Good video. I was looking on these two cars when i changed from the RAW4 -22 last year, i choose the Lexus 350H -23. I can agree that the ride experience in the 350 is far better than the CX-60 and i have 700km to the place i work so i needed a really good cabin a relaxed drive environment and fuel economy (fuel is ok 5.0-7.0 in wintertime, now it will be nice to see it in summertime). But i can totally agree, the CX looks really nice on both the inside and outside, the Lexus is still a little to much Toyota on some spots, not bad but not as fresh as the CX. Still, i really like my 350H and think i did the right choice

CX60 like 90 is a brand new platform and Mazds have just addressed some first year issues with series of TSBs.
Drivetrain smoothness and start up with electric assist and transmission at start are super smooth now with one of the TSBs reprogram 😉
Lexus will always be softer , plushier and more isolated as it is what Toyota wants to offer as their versions of premium .
Mazda is trying to adjust it's approach now and will tweak and settle it in the coming years and updates .
To me Mazda is a bargain and is far more advanced approach than NX that seems overpriced considering old tech and more generic cabin where busy and edgy wants to fool us for being modern and rich ....sorry piano Black is not ok on vehicle this expensive. If there was a Toyota badge on NX and it was priced 30% less it would make it so much more genuine and logical

I bought a CX-60 top specification 3.3l engine about a month ago and a CX-5 black edition 2.0 AWD. I have to say so far the CX-60 is very disappointing, it rattles and shakes, the boot lid is loose and continually thumps on the smallest bump. The driver personalisation feature rarely works, even when it tells me my name it is in guest mode and the seat and steering wheel are in the wrong positions, I have to go into the system and change to my name to get the car seat how I want it. The wife's CX-5 has a much better build quality and feels sturdy, the CX-60 seems flimsy inside and cheaply made. I sold a cheap Chinese Haval H6 top to buy this car and now I'm regretting it. The lane change warning is really annoying, I've turned it off 3 times and it just comes back on randomly, when driving in snow and ice it's really scary to have the car fight back when you are changing lanes. I'm really beginning to resent this car. Only thing I can say is the engine is powerful but let down by the really poor gear lever, the trend in modern cars is for these crappy gear levers, the CX-5 lever is what people want. Not that shitty lever. One last thing is my windows steam up randomly when leaving the car parked. Means I cannot drive for 5 minutes whilst the windows clear.
I would not recommend anyone to buy the CX-60 over the CX-5, the CX-5 is a much better car for the money.

My boss was looking at both of these vehicles and chose the Mazda purely based on the design. Personally, if it were my money, I would have chosen the Lexus as the Mazda cannot compete on luxury, refinement, reliability and customer service. Mazdas purchasing experience is also very poor. If you walk into a Mazda dealership, you are initially spoken to like you are buying a Mazda 2. When you tell them your looking at a CX60, they rapidly change their tune.... pretty fake and poor if you ask me. Additionally, at delivery, Mazda was pretty much handing over the keys and sending you on your way, luxury brands walk you through everything, make you a coffee, set your phone up etc. Mazda can't just make a luxury car and call themselves a luxury car manufacturer.... what about the rest of the experience you expect at that price? You walk into any Lexus dealership you are treated with a level of respect and care that is even unrivalled by other luxury brands.

I could not care less about a coffee or how friendly a salesman is to me.
I only care about the product I buy, as I will spend much more time behind the wheel of my car than the couple of minutes I will stay at the cardealer.
Buying experience is nothing more than useless marketing in order to increase prices.

Lexus is just a reskinned Toyota. Cheap pressed steel in the underbody parts. Atrociously expensive for what it is. I sold my last one for a Nissan Xtrail ePower which is leagues ahead in tech and finish. A genuinely nice car at a good price.

The Mazda is all show and not much substance. Those rock hard seats and weirdly flimsy back seats when you pull down the centre arm rest… the entire bench flexes. What’s up with that? And for a brand that’s pushing towards premium, you can’t even give us a fully extending sun visor for those hot days when the sun peeks through the gaps of the side windows. That’s only a couple of my gripes with the CX-60. Do better Mazda.

Why would anyone buy either of these cars when they cost $15 / 100 km more in fuel than Australia's best selling mid size SUV costing many thousands less at $65.4k + $2k for an installed home charger? Yes, the Model Y beats these loosers all round.

What a load of BS, my sister has a model Y, it’s ok if you’re into cookie cutter motoring pretending your saving the planet (which you’re not), its not brilliant … my NX is in another league, it makes the model Y look / feel like an old shopping trolley, sorry 😉
