In the summertime of 2014, my family were victims of an industrial accident that happened in our house. We had a family heirloom from our Grandfather, that shattered; and in the 100 degree weather of Texas, it turned to vapor in our house. We thought we had cleaned it up, but.. In short, we missed some. And without known origins, my siblings and I became extremely ill over the next four months. Mercury Vapor Poisoning only has potent affect on developing bodies- meaning only children. A standard human's mercury levels is between one and ten, my little brother's level was 37, my oldest brother's level was 50, and mine was the worst- 237. At 300, for an average *adult* human being, you go brain dead. December 15th, 2014, I woke up that morning some place other than my room and I was behaving strangely. We didn't know it then, but I was in-between a "Postictal Phase", which is a period of time immediately following a seizure. And when I arrived at my school to be dropped off, I got one foot out of the door before blacking out. According to every witness of me at that time, I started having a seizure. I was taken to the emergency room, and given too much medicine where I slipped into a coma. I was said to only have a 15% chance to wake up, and if I did, I would be brain dead. Well, clearly whatever gods are at work here, disagreed. I woke up two nights later, and that was the beginning of a lot of nastiness. I was only 10 years old, at the time.
I'm 18 years old now, and can say with certainty that getting Mercury Poisoning ruined my life. I have chronic illnesses as a result of the prolonged exposure, including Mad Hatter's Disease- Or Erethism, as it's called. The very disease that the term "Mad as a Hatter" comes from. I have intention tremors, irritability, severe insomnia, severe sensitivity, excessive fatigue, dementia, severe depression, mental confusion, severe anxiety and "shyness", Hallucinations, Delusions, Paranoia and dizziness. The disease is not well understood, as it's history lies within the 19th century, when hatters went 'mad' from the Mercuric Nitrate they put in the felt for the production line of hats. I just happen to have the 19th century disease that's not well understood, and doctors just have been referring me to the next doctor for about 8 ears now.
I would be lying if I said that living was wanted. Every single day, I've watched and recorded myself as I deteriorate. I don't remember anything outside of today, unless it's engrained into trauma. It didn't help that I had a really hard life shortly after emerging from my coma. Abusive household, added complex PTSD on top of this. It's too much to bare. I take medications for the symptoms, but there is no cure for the dementia. There's no running from it. And one day, I fear sometime soon, I will wake up, and lose the meanings to languages and words. People I love will not be recognizable. I digress, the pain of existing is too much to bare. Yeah, I survived, but what is life if I can't remember any of it? What is life having nightmares every night, and waking up to a living nightmare? I don't receive any proper care for my affliction, I just coast every day and try to be as normal as I can. I think about suicide every single day of my life. I think I will continue to do so, until I can't comprehend taking that action, anymore.
My name is Shelby Askew, please don't forget about me. I am a real person, and a real survivor of Mercury Vapor Poisoning.

I’ve got the same Chris. Yours was probably the tuna. Mine is due to a bunch of V’s I ‘had to have’ 10 years ago for vocational purposes. It’s an autoimmune reaction. I’m looking into hardcore detox now, intravenous- using DMSA and DMPS. Will be costly, but worth it! I’m thinking to add ALA after a few sessions. It’s dangerous to add that straight away as ALA crosses the blood / brain barrier, whereas the other 2 don’t. So I’m thinking clear the body load a bit first before addressing the brain.
EDTA apparently doesn’t bind to mercury, whereas these other ones do. It’s going to uncomfortable as the mercury will be ‘mobilised’ and there’s danger of redistribution - but I need this OUT of my body so I’m prepared to pay the $$ and take my chances. All the best on your journey. Get rid of it if you can.

Assuming that you'd actually even feel sick from too much Mercury you'd have to consume AND ABSORB more than that so lets say you consumed 0.4mg of Mercury per week / 0.8mg in 2 weeks. When a fluorescent lamp breaks, its mercury spreads around, and that mercury may combine ionically with other substances to form, for example, extremely-hazardous mercury salts such as mercuric chloride. All fluorescent lamps manufactured in the past, and presently manufactured (in 2021), contain a small amount of mercury, with CFLs (compare fluorescent lamps) containing less than the conventional types. For a typical broken lamp in typical circumstances, the amount of mercury absorbed into the body is extremely small; less mercury, for example, than would be absorbed from a couple of cans of tuna fish. So, individual breakages under average circumstances are of little concern, but cumulative environmental effects resulting from billions of crushed lamps are very-much a concern.

Since I was looking at the thermometer in my copper solution I was close to the steam therefore I inhaled it likely. Now like 7 hours later I have a headache on the right side of my head and pains in my right ear. The pain radiates to my neck or around my collarbone. The “pain” is occurring only on the right side of my head area. I’ve never gotten a headache like this before.

Even if the mercury is not reaching them, if it stays on the scale at 100c, the person will be dead in a short time. This means the mercury is not the problem. The same can be done with a digital thermometer. Water and thermometers are the real problem and should be heavily regulated and use restricted.
