In San Benito County, Calif. The New Idria mercury ghost mine still leaks mercury into the local river which feeds all the way to San Francisco. The 1852 mine closed in the 1970's but the EPA only started cleaning in the past few years. Many have been infected.

Having worked in business as an accountant I can say without reservation that the reason this sort of thing happens is purely about money. It is all about transferring costs from the company to someone else. In this case the company dumping this poison into the river has avoided the cost of cleaning up the mercury, that is transferred the cost, on to the environment or to the people that get mercury poisoning. The people that get poisoned then pay the cost through suffering or paying to get treatment.
Unethical. Evil. Sure. But there are plenty of people who are willing to hurt others even kill them to make money when they can get away with it.

I think that this is ridiculous because they put this crap in your mouth and say that it's not harmful while in your mouth but it can cause all of this stuff outside of the body no understanding

That's terrible, but I'm surprised they didn't mention anything about intelligence. Isn't that one of the most affected aspects?

This is very sad. Activated charcoal is a good detoxification agent.

this is a myth..10 tonnes of mercury would make the great lakes toxic 100,000,000,000 cubic meters
