    Just a few inaccuracies!!!
Actually - John Devner wrote the words to a MIke Taylor riff - that Tayor played for John Denver!!!! And Denver gave Taylor a 50% writing royalty for the song!!! Denver also wrote the words to Rocky Mountain High in August 1971 - during a camping trip to see the Perseid Meteor shower. There were about 10 people on the camping trip - NOT just John and Annie!!!

Virtually everything related to the songs is inaccurate in the movie. In the movie, he plays "This old guitar" when he's dating Annie. However, the lyrics refer to things that happened much later, like John and Annie getting to live in the house of their dreams, John being able to do the things he likes to do (i.e. cool stuff you can only do if you can afford it). John writes "Annie's song" in 1977, after being in "Oh God", when, in reality, it was already on the 1974 "Home again" album. "Love, again" plays when John meets Cassie, suggesting that his falling in love with Cassie inspired him to write that song but he met Cassie several years after recording "Love, again" for the first time. I understand that artistic liberties must be allowed, in fact, they are almost necessary for making an entertaining movie, but there's too much left out and too much inaccurate in that movie, in my opinion.

@christo930 Yup. John rerecorded some of his songs in 1996 for the Madacy album "The Best of John Denver" This was one of them.

I like the re-recordings of older songs he did in the 90s. I looked up the Madacy album, and it seems to be identical to "Love, again" (sold as "Unplugged" in Europe), which I got for 50 cents at a yard sale. The jewel case was cracked, but the CD could still be read. Those compilation albums that were sold under names as "The Gift you Are" also had, in addition to songs from Higher Ground -- recorded without Cassie--, songs from Two Directions and re-recordings of Annie's Song, SOMS, The Eagle and the Hawk and Rocky Mountain High. Annie's Song and Rocky Mountain High have slightly different arrangements on the two CDs.

@christo930 My best guess is a much later, live version that the record company allowed the production to use at a cheap price.

    Just a few inaccuracies....
His name was John DENVER....not DEVNER... taylor played a simple 2 chord riff, the words and life experience...was John DENVER. it was a song about HIS experience, noone else...

truly would like to see all the movie once again, although, I must admit I was a bit disappointed in the reality of matching chad lowe into the mold of John. I'm sure that perhaps no one could have met that match other than John himself. Lowe is an excellent actor and as far as the telling of John's story, that was done fairly well.
It still adds up to no other like John. He overcame many obstacles, many turn downs by record co. before it all paid off. I do love John always.

@christo930 I actually like it better. Just like the Wildlife Concert version. Songs like Fly Away, Annie's Song, Calypso, Leaving on a Jet Plane all sound better in his later part of life. Just my opinion. Of course some of the songs sound better when he was younger like The Eagle and The Hawk, How Can I Leave You Again, Flying For Me, I Want To Live, and a others.

This is why the audio sounds strange... the authors of this...'movie'... seem to have taken the audio of a track in which john sang w a cold methinkst... interesting to see how they really gave a shit to each detail.

@ouimetnick I listened to it again and it really is terrible. His voice is so much deeper and the song lost all it's character.

It’s a 1996 re-recording from the album released on that same year called "Love Again: Greatest & Lastest" (Alternatively known as "The Unplugged Collection") which was only sold in Europe a year before his death in a plane crash in 1997 when River North Records released “A Celebration of Life: The Last Recordings" then Madacy Entertainment released "The Best of John Denver" in 1998 a year after his death.

Is this actually John Denver? Worst version of the song I ever heard.
