    If a dev studio don't want to put in extra effort to keep their product up to date with the latest sim update then I'm not willing to put my money in their wallets. The market and profits are tremendously larger than ever before with any other sim. More than enough to make up for the extra work needed to keep everything up to date, and they knew full well going into MSFS that this was and still is a very much work in progress thing. Especially now that Asobo seems to have slowed down with their sim updates there's no reason for any aircraft not to be up to date with the latest update.
    Thanks @Fly From Home for making it easy to decide which addons to get :)

    Wonderful video, and a very important topic for MSFS! The sim is always changing, and it is a big challenge for the 3rd party devs to keep up with it (and not lose money in the process). I did identical test flights with a lot of different planes a few days myself (focusing on hand flying, navigation systems and auto pilot for longer flights), and in the end only the 414AW with the PMS50 GTN750 and the Kodiak with the G1000 NXi were 100% positive for me.

    Excellent video, I enjoyed it very much. I flew my Warrior for the first time in a couple of months recently and noticed it was a bit "off". I wasn't sure why - but now I do lol. I really enjoy the 310R but it took a while to get used to the high speed landings. I'm still dithering over the C414AW. So many planes and not enough money.

    I just had a similar problem with the prop failing to feather on the Milviz/Blackbird 310R. In my case, I think the problem was a little bit of jitter in the prop axis for my throttle quadrant. When I had my prop lever all the way to the bottom, the axis in the sim was jittering right around zero. Because it wasn't staying at zero, the sim was going in and out of feather and not fully stopping the prop. I solved that issue by applying a -2% extremity deadzone to the prop axis. That way, the axis reaches zero slightly before my prop lever hits the full-aft position.

    I've been using the JF warrior for my flight training and it's been a disaster getting worse with every patch - try stalling the damn thing! At least I can still practice my procedures... I do hope they get on top of this asap. From a quick read on the forums it looks like they're waiting on Asobo to answer questions and like you said, they're waiting for a more stable release. I hope it's soon!

    Thanks for the vid. There are two aeroplanes I really look forward to flying in MSFS, the Flysimware C414 and the PMDG 737s. I had high hopes for the Black Square Beech King Air 350, but unfortunately, though good, it has a bit of improving to do to reach the Premier League that the other two sit in. Imo it also has a lot to do with the comfort in knowing how to operate these types. There are a few more that I both enjoy flying and rate too, the Milviz310 is one of these.

    • @FlyFromHome
      @FlyFromHome  Před rokem +1

      I think the Black Square does very well given that it exists inside the skin of a default aircraft, but yes it’s not quite on the 414’s level. The PMDG is something that I was bought to practice for a job interview and understand almost nothing about, but it’s fun to throw around the circuit if nothing else 😂

    • @stephenmckinnell7791
      @stephenmckinnell7791 Před rokem +1

      The King Air needs to be able to couple the AP in NAV mode rather than simply in heading select in all modes. It is confusing atm, but I still enjoy it. The PMDG 737s are as near to real as I want tbh. I’m not too bothered about how they hand fly, as personally we rarely did it anyway, it was often AP on as soon as we could and unless visual it was disconnect in the last thousand feet. The KA 90s I flew were single crew without APs, the 200s required one, or a second pilot. Which I thought was daft, as they were nicer/easier to hand fly than the 90s! But what do I know? 😊

  • @JohnVanderbeck
    @JohnVanderbeck Před rokem

    I'm curious what you think is a better purchase for the "commercial lite" gameplay niche, the Flysimware 414 or the Black Square King Air.. Or something else I haven't considered.

    • @FlyFromHome
      @FlyFromHome  Před rokem

      I think the 414 is one of the best aircraft in the sim flight-dynamics and system wise so I always lean towards that, although the King Air is easily the best turboprop we have right now.

    Great video, nice to see a revisit of payware stuff more recently due to changes or improvments or not due to sim changes.
    I often still fly base aircraft of MSFS due to lack of funds atm, those base aircraft included in base game, can range from in my view from Absolutly terrible what were they thinking, to really bad, bad, not so bad, fair to middling at best.
    They seem to change with sim changes.
    When using base aircraft I tend to use Caravan 208, TBM930, 172's and DA62 mostly on the base stuff. The new Airbus 310 really hits my FPS though so don't use it.
    Each base aircraft seem to either have some major issues with handling or throttle control, UI or Autopilots, or just bounce around too much even in low wind. As for Jet use the super free community Flybywire a320 which is very nice to fly and super fidelity for a community project and thier launcher for updates is a delight.
    A 2023 review of all base aircraft (if anyone can stomach making it would be nice).
    My top payware wishlists from hundreds of hours of YT reviews clearly seem atm to be:
    -C414
    -C310 (Milviz)
    -Fenix a320
    -BA146 Pro (althought the RJ's are coming?)
    -PMDG's 737's but FPS hit, costs for 3 model varients drop those lower down the list for me.
    -Kodiak 100 (is meant to be pretty good) but others take a high priority on my wishlist at the moment.
    It is shocking how bad some base or even payware aircraft are especially those with bad flight controls, no updates and price they want still for them, so you really do need to do your homework if you not having Dev's throw copies at me lol.
    Super thanks for a great video and content - definitely a very informative, and useful video. (post-recording for these type of vids was great) 👍
    PS. In my 50's now and rather poor, but I did my PPL back in early 2000's and dearly miss my flying days - out of Wycombe EGTB with the old BA airrways air school at the time.

    I can't get *any* aircraft to actually feather at the moment - even if they graphically feather there's no change in trim taking the prop in & out of feather, CfD or no CfD, doesn't seem to matter.
    One that didn't show up - Boeing 247, still works the same but the developer seems to have fallen off the planet, so at some point a sim update might break it & nobody is suer the aircraft will be fixed.
    JF are working on ground handlnig for the Hawk right now, I guess they might update the PA28s for that at least. Everything you said about the Arrow is true of the Hawk too, like they have practically no wing loading ( I have complained about the turbulence handling to them for a while, so I hope it's on a list... ). There's a continual discussion about the Warrior performance - I think you have to test it out to sea because it's ( like the others ) so sensitive to MFS atmospheric effects - my Warrior certainly doesn't 2000fpm unless I'm ridge soaring it :S - I just tried it out at sea, full tanks, full load ( as per book ) & it held 500fpm at 80kts - so there's something a bit more going on there.
    Cessna 337 is just ok, feels like every other Carenado plane, not terrible but just not amazing.
    Is your gear lever bust btw? :D

    Gotto say that the choice between the 310 and 414 is a very hard one. The FM of the 414 sounds lot better to me, i own the Kodiak and that thing too is super pitch sensitive, not fun to handfly. The 310 itself does look a bit better imo. Aaargh, choices haha

    You've demonstrated several examples why I have never converted to MSFS2020. Quite frankly, I experienced pretty much the very same 'evolutions' while heavily investing in 'FSX'. Though I did buy a new 'gaming pc' to accommodate what I thought would be a 'sure thing', I never 'bought into it. I watch patiently for well over a year, and I've seen the very same 'growing pains, I experienced with FSX and all the 'payware'.. Not going there again. The scenery is about the only 'real' improvement, and quite frankly for a 'sim', MegaSceneryEarth does well enough considering that investment and what I'd spend to buy all new 'payware'.. Good video though. Thank you for your efforts!
