  • So the icon T8 scan tool has passed all the test with flying colors. We got the auto VIN fixed we got the secure gateway proof of concept that’s working and couple other features that I found out that I like very much on the scanner versus some of my others

    If you want decent WiFi coverage don't depend on the consumer access point modem and router combo unit provided by your ISP.
    I turned off the Wi-Fi in my ISPs router and installed a Ubiquit Unifi AC Pro in the shop and one in the house connected to the router with Ethernet. The signal strength is night and day difference.

    So can you scan a vehicle without connecting the scan tool to an internet connection?

    Have you tried to program a key on a chrysler yet? I have the matco maximus and refuse to pay for the $800 update just to be able to get into FCA considering getting this scanner just needs to be able to do keys when i need to.

      It’s fine I’m happy with it for sure I just don’t like that the live data can’t be formatted into a custom list format

    So I am trying to set up my auto auth account to register the unit and it says I have to pay $50 a year for an account. Is that correct? I thought these came with 2 years of service for accounts. I would believe this would be one also

    • @rvtechpro
      @rvtechpro  Před 6 měsíci +1

      AutoAuth is $50 per year it’s not affiliated with the scan tool companies it’s affiliated with FCA the vehicles OEM the scan tool company must get approved by FCA I order to even use AutoAuth it’s a service provided and we pay for it

      AutoAuth is Chrysler's security feature for Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep 2018 and newer.

      How do you get the autoauth to pull up auto on the t8 scanner i just got one to fay and was trying to see how to get the autoauth to work on it

    Definitely not impressed with the T8. The Topdon Phoenix Lite 2 has no problem doing auto vin scan without wifi access. Also has more active tests, resets, and bi-directional functionality. And it cost less. Still get 2 year updates and renewal doesn't cost that much.

    See this is what I was kind of worried about sicne I know there's a few "High End" brand-name diagnostic devices that require internet, or God forbid a subscription, just to use bare basic functions, let alone updates, and thats a big No from me dawg, especially if I am paying several _thousand_ dollars for them.
    Not really in the market at this exact moment, but with how much I am getting into mechanics, acquiring tools and fixing vehicles, and not only enjoying it but knowing many people I could help out, especially my older neighbor across the street who use to actually own his own Mechanics shop, it could come in very handy in the coming years.
    Especially if I am helping my car-nut friend who's always doing a bunch of wacky stuff but yet has a strangely woeful lack of specialized tools . . . He always manages to get by through sheer resourcefulness, but this is one of those things you cant really ham-fist a replacement for off of stuff you have lying around a shop.

      Get a cheaper autel. It has a cheap subscription. The t8s subscription cost is what kept me from purchasing it. Especially if you are helping people for free. These tools are for those that are getting paid to do this.
