ICON T8 TCM Capabilities & a fix for its one major flaw!

- This is a video, addressing a viewer question about the capabilities of the icon T8 scant to as it relates to the transmission control module. I will also highlight a very major flaw that can easily be fixed within the scanner. I still recommend it, but if you need to use live data a lot, you may want to wait until Har Arbor freight Tools fixes this programming issue within this tool 
I love your videos about this scan tool man. I am excited to try mine out on a 2016 Escape this week and hope it can handle some transmission diagnostics for me. Icon really needs to watch your content and take some notes.

Appreciate your reviews! Contacted Icon about the 10 speed concern, because my T8 is ready for pickup and I don’t want to get hit with a 20% restock fee. I was told that it works, and that I can contact them, and they’ll be able to fix it. Also was told it might be your unit that’s experiencing this concern, because it’s the first time they’ve been told of this. Still on the fence, I hope the problem was corrected. I’ll probably do a post of my results 🤞🏽..

The icon t8 its to early for anything really in my opinion they should have start selling it with all of its features not as people buy it ima hold off maybe like a year or 2 before i pull the plug and buy it

You seem to be covering the T8 a hell of a lot more than anyone else I've seen so far and I appreciate that.
I am curious; do you have much experience with the Autel MaxiCheck MX900? I've been looking into some diagnostic scanners to get one sometime in the next few months, and I've kind of narrowed it down to that or the Icon T8, from what information I've been able to piece together from the meager information people present about them online. I've started doing a lot of work on Vehicles, both mine and others, and I intend to have it to do as much diagnostic/reset/programming/services/whatever as possible without spending exorbitant amounts of money, and maybe even getting into actual small-time automotive service eventually.
The T8 appears to do pretty much 99% of what anyone would ever need a Diagnostic tablet for, and with a 25% off coupon it puts it at a great price point (so I am heavily leaning towards it), but because there is so little cross-comparisons of Tablets out there (and it being very new on the market) I am uncertain if it would do a significant amount more than the MX900, which comes out around $500, or even maybe another tablet in that price bracket.
As far as technical usage goes I am very savvy with technology so I'd be able to figure it out quickly, and most people seem to say you dont need anything super expensive or intensive to do even bi-directional scanning and various service functions, but I have no idea the breadth of their knowledge and experience with actually doing mechanical work, and they dont go into detail about what exactly each tablet does.
You've obviously used a lot of different ones from the bottom all the way up to the top, and you actually go in-depth with information, so I figured I would ask. I mostly just want to know what you're really getting when you spend more money on these things, because no one else is really clear about this.
I would say buy the cheapest scanner that will do what you need it to do, and consider how much it cost to update the tool after the free year is up ICON is going to be at least $500 for the annual subscription where as Autel MX900 is $120, the T8 is wireless and the MX900 is wired only, the Autel has better software with less bugs but if price is a concern I'd just buy the MX808S its like $300

Growing pains. I've no doubt that HF/ICON will regularly update the system with fixes - just like each and every other single diagnostic scan tool manufacturer.

having multiple dead autel scan tools i can personally say their warranty is worst in class!!!!! restore a autel and you lose vehicle coverage weird since prompts explain back to stock settings?? having one unit with vci yet from day one needed a cord from unit to vci? so much for upgrade or conveniece ! software is important but warranty is crutial for how expensive these tools can be! subs need a reality check as cheaper to buy a new unit on most occasions or a used unit with time left don't fret warranty sucks nomatter the tool!

That icon scanner is a 500-600 launch. Its decent in some aspects. Overall JUNK. Better buying a luanch that has way more function and use with more support. Icon doesnt even having working auto autoauth for fca. It wont work Overall another ICON failure.
Hey you know I have a video showcasing the FCA AutoAuth working on a 2019 and a 2021 Dodge challenger two cars I regularly deal with. Do you own the T8 or are you speaking from experience or just by what you have heard? Don't waste your money on this icon t8. Way too many bugs and the main fact being that you have to be connected to the internet to do the auto scan. The topdon Phoenix lite 2 is a much better scan tool. After the initial updates, you can easily auto scan a vehicle without internet connection. Much better bi-directional control, graphing data pids.Has more bells and whistles and for two thirds less of the price of the t8.
