I defy anyone to find a Cooper S as well restored as yours, you are doing a grande job. I had a few Coopers in my youth, a full race Downton tuned one and a Will Sparrow prepared rally Cooper S but the sweetest one was a bog standard 998 Cooper in tweed grey and old english white. I would love to have a garage and the money to restore a Cooper but instead I just drool over and enjoy following the vids. Keep up the good work and enjoyment you bring to your followers.

Hello there, what your doing on the old mini is spot-on' well done, I had a 1959 Austin Seven (7 AOG) which I bought in late '60s with 15k miles, sold it late '70s, your eye for detail is brilliant. Regards, RichardA.

It can be very tricky and head wrecking trying to find a good painter that you can trust
to do a good and thorough job.

Superb mate. One thing I noticed the door striker catch on the b post has been painted body colour and few chips, I’d remove and clean the paint of and re fit. No criticism mate. Just a observation and no you want it spot on! Your attention to detail is great 👍 keep up the good work.
Yeah its on my list of things to do! Am not sure if they came painted from factory?

I have considered just cleaning up the face of the catch and keeping the rest body colour, my vans exactly the same I will do some research on it and mention it again in a future video

Lift up the back of the bonnet slightly and possibly manipulate (bend) the back edge slowly gently in towards the front should miss the wiper then when you lift the bonnet .me being a panel beater fabricator restorer and painter whites are probably the hardest colour to match keep the vids coming well done she looks lovely

I always believe that white with a black roof was the best looking color combo on a Mini. And your beautiful Cooper S confirms it!

My wife has always wanted a classic Mini and I'm going to try and surprise her with one next year.
If I can find something like your Red Mini city I would be well chuffed. But something as good as that is highly unlikely.
The mini Park Lane would be the ultimate but they are like rocking horse s**t now.
One thing could I ask. Your dual controls. Could you do a video on them or mention them. How they work?
My wife had a stroke and she can't use her right leg so im going to have to have controls fitted.

My Aunty had a 1987 Mayfair in wedgewood blue, it was 3 years old and the boot lid got badly dented, I managed to get a mint boot lid, 1987, in colour from a scrap yard, bare metal behind the hinges on both boot lids, and they both looked factory, I zinc primered the bare metal and job was a gooden

Hi Alex, It’s looking good mate, really happy you’re pleased with the work. I bet you can’t wait for some nice weather to get out in it now.
Also I just wanted to make you aware so you don’t have any problems. The paint info I gave you will help out but if it’s bought in premixed or a different brand to what I used then it’s not guaranteed to be an 100% edge to edge match. It might need tinting to get right.
If using a smart repairer id ask them to do a quick spray out card before they apply it just to make sure.
For those small blow ins though you could probably get away with using the paint I gave you if it’s still sealed.

If you want a smart repair doing on your chipped paint I can thoroughly recommend Chips Away.
I have used them twice now when my car has been scratched at shows. Unfortunately this is quite common.

Hi Alex, your Mark 1 Cooper S is so beautiful it should be put in a glass case to keep it pristine but of course they are built to be enjoyed. How do you manage to avoid scraping your Minis with your wheel chair in close quarters like your garage? Best of the season to you!
I am super careful mate, my previous garage was tiny compared to my new one i built last year

Looks wonderful. Be aware that proper paint matching needs proper full Sun spectrum lighting. Sometimes colours will look visibly different under different lighting conditions and typical indoor garage lighting (Fluorescent) is very poor colour range/blue shifted. Proper paint shops can use a spectrophotometer to match any paint.
Are your mini's using traditional lacquer type paints or more modern type or even base-coat/clear-coat urethane?
The garage scanned the paint mate to get the match perfect. I have had it out in the sun and its bob on! Its been painted in single stage gloss then lacquered over the top for better UV protection
This is a lovely car. Does it have the oil cooler fitted? Cooper S had one with the front panel modified to fit. Keep up the good work.

We can see the paint matches perfectly and what you do to your mini’s is your call 99% of us are enjoying watching everything your doing the others don’t matter and you couldn’t please them whatever you do, the minis looking cool man 👍

Personally I'd be worried driving without. Driven my -65 Countryman with just the one inside and its far to scary!
Viability is pretty good in a standard car, my van only has one mirror and thats challenging at times

Without exception everyone is on your side.(l was going to say right behind you but it 's 2020!😂😂) Is your grille fitted with quick release screws or is a "benelite " grille ? Regarding the paint could you get some sent down ? I 'm sure the shop that did your van would help out. I like the Paddy Hopkirk pedal ! Great stuff !
The 2020 joke is becoming my standard joke now 🤣 i am certainly going to sort the paint out soon. The car needs to go to Minichanics to have the tracking done and some other bits and bobs so would make complete sense

@@classicminidetails8887 I'm feeling like that today mate, I've bought my daily this morning and you'll laugh but I've wanted a Fiat Panda for ages cos it has everything I need and today I bought one. 1 owner, FSH, 2011 1.2 Active, 90k, 11 mot, £30 tax and serviced in October for £1100. Way better than a lot of the crap I've seen for the money lol. That Cooper is an amazing car and looks way better with all the crap removed off it.

Strong wiff of OCD in the Air🤭..where the scratch was..could have been Flatted down , build the layers up with pro touch up Brush, wet sand and Polish, the Hinge casts a natural Shadow
Those visit you Paint Vans 1 Particular Firm, Hellish Expensive, for the little Bit i needed doing was Ridiculous, didnt have the Heart to Tell him I had Painting Buisness for 20 Yrs

Yeah i bet someone could have repaired it without the need for paint but at least i know its completely gone now! There was also a chip near the trim along the top so made sense to just spray it
After the spot on paint match with the boot lid, you only had the one option with that scratch, no way could you leave it as the car is far too good to warrant that imperfection.
Helps the paint is new and you knew who painted it obviously
Headliner is the only major job left and frankly if you think 8 plus hours on the boot lid gasket was bad.........Pay someone else 😆
