  • I bought a Snap On tool Box which came with a SAFA box on top. The boxes have been through at least two Brisbane, Australia floods. The boxes came with tools. I show how I restored the boxes and cleaned them up. New locks were placed and I added some bling as well as a bright red paint job.
    Both toolboxes are very well made and the quality shines through (after the mud and grease are removed).

    Your comment on it being from the 80s and only having 5 years of payments left was hilarious.

    I have this box. Love the way mine looks. Glad it don’t need to restore mine. The patina looks perfect on mine.

    Great work mate, ignore the negative comments 😂 thank you for vid, I plan on doing this to a toolbox I just got. Also thinking about buying shadow foam for the drawers.

      Thanks Ashley,
      Best of luck . Lots of work involved in doing these up because there is so much surface area. That’s why they hold so many tools .
      Shadow foam is a great idea . I was going to vinyl letter label the drawers so I can see at a glance which drawers have which tools .

    The trick to drilling stainless Steel is to keep the speed of the drill slow.
    It works out easier in the end.

    The elusive 10 millimeter. I must have bought at least 20 of those over the years. I think I have one left.

    • @Dentinvent
      @Dentinvent  Před rokem +2

      Lol. I didn’t want to spend a lot repacking the 10 mm with the correct Sidchrome socket so I just bought a cheap Toolpro 10 mm long socket which fits the slot .
      The free socket set looks fantastic . Let me know if you want a quick video on that .

    Awesome!!! I recently inherited my dad's snap-on toolbox #KRA300B. It definitely needs work to be fully functional. I'm having an issue with some drawers coming completely off the drawer slides. Could you possibly do a video on exactly how the drawer n slide work together, so maybe I can resolve the issue??

    • @Dentinvent
      @Dentinvent  Před měsícem +1

      If you look carefully how I take the drawers out ( use a bent feeler gauge ) you can see that there is a tab that stops the drawers coming right out . Take your drawer off then you can see the tab . Bend the tab out a bit and when you lock the drawer back in , it will not slip out .

    • @momm6037
      @momm6037 Před měsícem

      @@Dentinvent I've pulled them out before, using the metal piece from a file folder, but some don't have that...like it broke off possibly. Is it possible to weld a lil nob/stop thing on it?? Or possibly cut a new tab? Thank you for responding, greatly appreciated.

    I know this is some time ago but how did the rustoleum 2x primer + paint hold up thus far?
    Did you feel that a clear coat would have helped for extra protection? Or the paint itself is tough enough?

    • @Dentinvent
      @Dentinvent  Před 2 měsíci

      The rustoleum paint is amazing ! It is so tough that it doesn’t chip like some paints . I would still recommend it for restoration of tool boxes and the red is beautiful. Clear coat would actually weaken the toughness.

    I can't believe he did so much work disassembling, cleaning and sanding just to spray bomb them.

    • @Dentinvent
      @Dentinvent  Před rokem +1

      To get a perfect finish you’d have to virtually sandblast then fill minor marks and block sand and two pac finish them . Then it maybe cheaper to take out that lease on a new one .

  • @minipanda7542
    @minipanda7542 Před rokem

    What sand grit did you use, when you sand it down?

    • @Dentinvent
      @Dentinvent  Před rokem

      I’m the sanding machine I was using 320 grit . The paint seems to fill sanding marks well.

    Sorry, but, the erratic camera shots are hard to watch. You need to make the camera stable on a tripod if you want people to watch this. And is all the commentary really necessary? I gave up watching after 5 minutes.

      I agree on the camera shake, but commentary wasnt really a problem for me. If it is for you, mute the video and put your own music on. I do that on some videos I watch that dont require me to listen to the commenter.
