i did beat the game before they did the shadow buff patch though lol. I would say very good game 10/10 ; I was not sold on the map design and navigation for dlc though but the world was really well designed.

I'm currently on the last boss of the DLC, who admittedly has at least one move I would consider unfair, but other than him none of the bosses were a problem; I learned the movesets quickly enough and none of them felt like they had bloated health bars

Radahn, Midra, Romina, and especially Messmer and Rellana all kept swinging miss at me even when I wasn't dodging just because they stabbed or slashed half an inch next to my actual character. 90% Of ashes of war that move you up or down somewhat makes you dodge attacks despite getting no i-frames for it purely because the bosses will then swing over you or under you.
@@TheStraightestWhitest You're mostly right, but Elden ring still has some bosses that have pretty bullshit or unfair hitboxes. And I haven't even beaten the DLC yet, and 2 of those bosses are still coming I heard. Anyways, for example, when I dodge Rellana's cross slash, sometimes it still hits me because of the backswing, just because the sword touches you slightly. Meanwhile, I have seen my sword not hitting her even though the tip clearly hit her, where is the fairness in that ?

I don't feel bad for cheesing the first two furnace golems with shard spiral. that spell staggers tf out of tons of enemies in the dlc even those death dragons. I'm betting its going to get "balanced" in a future patch. Makes the Furnace Golems easier than they should. remember all those "try sorcery" messages.
The point of the game is to beat it, not to increase the difficulty by weakening yourself. If you can do it by doing so, then good for you. Just stop being an ass about others.
@@matguimond92 I swear ive tried shard spiral on the dragons, and it did not stagger them. Gave up on shard spiral when it did very little against dragons, lion and hippo.

@@Vezgod I only killed that one death dragon in the gravesite with shard spiral and the two first golems. the one by cathedral metyr is the first one I came across with armoured legs so I just ran.

@@gurnoorsekhon6402 It's dodgable, you have to immediately run straight back, time your 1st roll to the slam, then keep rolling straight back. Much easier with light roll with the extended roll distance, but doable with medium roll as well.

The Elden Ring DLC changes my life
The thing is Scott Jund made a good video on this too is so many players literally put hardly any points into VIT and barely use any defensive stuff, like the talismans, boiled crabs and golden vow, there's a lot of things you can use even if you're not a tank style build, it would still make a massive difference.
I’ll be real I play like Scott with loads of buffs it works on everything except the last boss and commander gaius I think they need a hitbox/damage rework of some kind especially the final boss it has so much hp for how quickly it can two shot you
Alternatively you could just stack damage it kill bosses before they kill you, trading hits. Saw someone defeated Messmer by just spamming Giant Hunt on a bleed Greatsword.
Yah, I didn’t need to use a shield. But I ran a greatsword tank using the Pearldrake Talisman (the +3 variant can also be found in the dlc) and the Dragonshield Greatshield Talisman for massive buffs to both non physical and physical damage negation respectively and I could take a lot more than ‘one or two hits’ from bosses. People are either exaggerating or they just simply didn’t have strong enough builds prior to engaging with the Scadutree Blessings. Even after just a few blessings there were times I felt OP and even one shot (one attempt not one hit) several bosses. It’s like people are raging first and looking at their build second. And the fact that we had this much ‘outrage’ the first day the dlc dropped shows how many people thought they were going to steamroll the content out rhe gate and got filtered before even trying to engage with the game’s systems.
You could kind of tell how many people were underprepared though by how many people were rushing around trying to beat Mohg to even enter the dlc right before release.
@@mandrews6282 yeah I was actually disappointed by how easy some of the bosses were in this dlc. The only boss I struggled on was the final one and bayle (I went there while at +4 blessings and was getting one shot lol) and yet both of those fights I felt were amazing. I see people hating the final boss and my only complaint was the visibility but even that wasn't that bad imo. People clearly weren't prepared and were rushing to try and finish the game as quick as possible, which doesn't make sense to me since if you bought the dlc wouldn't you want to take your time and experience as much as possible?
@@giantenemycrab1192 I’m even more disappointed now. Looks like the recent patch nerfed areas of the game and also buffed Scadutree Blessings. Finishing the game at 18 already felt like overkill and I feel like people came in the first day and didn’t engage with any systems before complaining. And now the dlc has been nerfed less than a week in. I can easily see more people finishing and eventually complaining it’s not hard enough once they’ve finally engaged with all the new systems. It’s almost a monkey’s paw situation. And I’m a little disappointed FS caved so quickly.
My friend was so confused he beat messmer on 10 tries and was so dissapointed that he was not as strong as malenia like everyone said he was (he was using the fists weapons at + 0 with no armour role playing a monk

When you start out, ignore the notes about the blessings and get absolutely owned because everything one shots you, then you go back to look online because there's no way they expect you to not get hit and you only saw that little notification about the blessings once. I think everyone went through this, some faster than others.

Iceborne's Alatreon and Safi Jiiva fights are some of my favorite game fights. I accidentally pulled aggro on Safi one time and listened to the "chase" music. I built Lance and learned how to use it after that specifically so I could hear that music every time I fought Safi.

The fact is this, if he never would have found out about the Fingerprint shield build, he probably never would have changed his mind. And as beautiful as the DLC is and as amazing as lots of parts of the DLC are, a couple bosses were definitely made solely to be hard, and they didn't care to make the fights good mechanically. Many people are ignorant about not knowing how to actually level up in the DLC with the Scadutree blessings, and are rushing through the game, so that's on them. But even if you do all of that, if you are the type of player that likes to dodge, there's multiple bosses that have roll catching attacks one right after another, so if you dodge, you don't have time to dodge before the next attack. So yes playing a tank with a greatshield makes this pretty easy, but it strongly discourages other playstyles. Still think it deserves a really high rating, and doesn't deserve the review bombs but there's issues with the DLC
The review bombs are mostly from China hating easy anti cheat lmao. Asmons editor pointed this out in another vid actually. As far as builds go the shield shit def OP but hey at least there’s other builds that are also OP. The streamer imaqtpie seemingly breezed through the dlc with akimbo hammers lmao
That was my big complaint for the main game. There are a few builds that make the game easy mode or hard mode. The fact he had to switch to an OP build to start having fun tells me this is not a 10 out of 10.
yeah defo atleast a 9, personally i wish there was more weapons and armor, and a few bosses seem like horse shit. gaius, 2nd phase of the final boss, senssax, i got lost a bunch of times since alot of the different locations were bottlenecked behind 1 single spot and if you miss it you'll be wondering how dafuq you get there, but that might just be me being a doofus with bad observation skills
They should just get rid of character building alltogether in these types of games. What's the point of multiple ways to build your character when there is really only one viable build?
Lmao I didn’t use a single shield in the entirety of the dlc. I had a arcane dragon communion +cult build and absolutely melted bosses with ekzykes’s decay and ancient dragon’s lightning strike. Most bosses folded in two to four hits of this stuff it’s quite honestly crazy ngl. But I gotta admit the final boss’s second phase is a bich. I had to swap to an unga bunga lion claw hammer build and solo him.

@@mf2854 No, he likes the game. He's always said "ABC" (always be cheating/cheesing), so he likes any game that allows him to cheese the content. It seems counterintuitive to play a souls-like game this way, but it is what it is...
I feel like with any difficult game, mindlessly venting and "crying" about it whilst looking and sounding like a lunatic with mad cackling is just a way to deal with the challenge. It's not every boss, but there are some that drive you up the wall and you need to expel that frustration. You can call it unfair, ridiculous and garbage but deep down we wouldn't keep playing if we didn't enjoy it or want to beat it. It's just some peoples way to deal with that frustration.

Fingerprint shield poke is just..you can't call that beating something when there never was a challenge to be faced in the first place. All you have to do here is, without knowing literally anything, guard up and attack. I approve of anything but this. This isn't even easy mode, it's God mode.

Bayle was such a epic fight. I enjoyed every last moment of fighting that thing. The fight itself, the visual, how the map leads to Bayle, the weapon you get on the way to that side of the map, the NPCs, it was all well put together.

He should, its so good. I mean playing it on stream though kinda nullifys the point though. Its kind of a game you just play on your own, and just think about things. Get immersed, The games really good at doing that for you though.

Asmon despises the role play in "role playing games". He only cares about gameplay and going from room to room quacking enemies. Introduce any segments of characters talking for 10 minutes in between and he would turn it off. I'm surprised that he sat through FFXVI.

Best DLC, but he raged out of a "honest" build and maybe started playing in the most "unethical" build basically ignoring all of the games mechanics. Sometimes I am tempted when a boss pushes my shit in, but I actually enjoy learning how to fight the boss. That shield is protecting more than his character xdd

yeah bro the damage and health of the mobs is totally fine and actually completely balanced! Brother you didnt even play the bosses, you held the shield out and jitter clicked R1. Actually comical the amount of cases that people will say "Yeah the bosses aren't great" during their playthrough and then the microsecond that they beat the game they completely switch up and say "WOWW! BEST GAME EVER 10/10 EVERYTHING SO BALANCED AND FUN!!!" like bro get real.

Its a mechanic given by the game i don't see why holding a shield is not an option? You got the options to make any boss as easy as you want you just choose not to. Also we all know the "yeah the boss aren't great" and overall calling something unfair or unbalanced comes out of the rage you have at that moment
If you tried to learn the game instead of complaining you would do better, get scadutree fragments and the game is balanced, in fact i think most of the bosses are too easy because they take too much damage, got Messmer and 4th try, just did the finger boss at 1st try, Rellana 2nd try, most of the bosses went down pretty fast, the hardest ones i´ve encountered so far were Bayle (this one is actually hard) and Putrescent Knight, and that was because i was trying to roll his flames, the moment i tried jumping over them instead ive cleared him 1st try.
And btw im by no means a top Souls player, i consider myself pretty average, so ye, l2p instead of complaining.
I didnt cheese btw, im playing a pretty standard great Katana build wich isnt even optimized because most of the stats were on dex (was from my previous build) where they should have been split dex/str, so i could be doing even more damage, and btw i started the DLC at lvl 125 and im probably at 165/170 now.

The amount of times you just stumble in to a new zone thats completly diffrent from the last, is stunning. That said, the amount of Praise the Reseach and dung ahead, tends make the areas feel emptier. Id even take ruine arcs over yet another wepon upgrade material I can literally buy as many as I want of.
That was hands down my least favorite thing about the dlc. Explore for a long time just to fight crap fodder and find pointless items.
