  • Inside The $300 Million Boeing BBJ 787 Private Jet
    0:00 - Intro
    This is the Boeing BBJ 787, one of the most luxurious private jets Boeing has ever produced. With a price tag of $300 million, this aircraft offers the opulence of a 5-star hotel, airborne. Today we’re going inside the Boeing BBJ 787 to talk about everything you need to know about this mind-blowing mega-jet.
    1:00 - Cabin
    Stepping inside the Boeing BBJ 787 cabin, one of the first things you'll notice is the huge interior. With an area spanning over 2,400 square feet or 223 square meters, the BBJ 787 provides enough space to accommodate 40 passengers and various zones, recreational, dining, office, and sleeping.
    The BBJ 787 also has an ensuite master bedroom with a 42-inch TV for VIP Guests to sleep in, in addition to a dressing room and a bathroom with a shower.
    The LED system offers harmonized, controllable luminosity that can mimic different times of the day or set a mood.
    The windows are 30% larger than those found in similar business jets, and are electrochromic, meaning that they allow for electronic dimming at the press of a button.
    Boeing has equipped this model with advanced air filtration systems that renew the air every 2 to 3 minutes. The engineering involved also enables better humidity levels, around 10-15%. Cabin altitude pressure is set at 6,000 feet.
    The aircraft employs advanced materials and noise-dampening technologies that make the cabin remarkably quiet.
    The connectivity suite is based on the latest Ka-band satellite technology. For entertainment, it's possible to integrate a bespoke system with high-definition screens, ranging in sizes up to 50 inches, surround sound systems, and even options for gaming consoles.
    4:04 - Cockpit
    The Boeing BBJ 787 cockpit has 5 large-format, multi-function LCD screens.
    The BBJ787 employs a fully digital fly-by-wire control system. The sidestick controls have been replaced with a yoke.
    The FMS offers a high level of automation.
    The HUD projects vital flight information onto a transparent screen in the pilot's forward field of view. Coupled with Enhanced and Synthetic Vision Systems, the HUD assists in providing better situational awareness, especially during low-visibility conditions. The aircraft includes VHF and HF radios.
    The aircraft features Multi-Mode Receivers that support various types of navigation, from Instrument Landing Systems to GPS and GLONASS satellite navigation. It is also equipped with advanced radar systems that can detect turbulence and weather conditions up to 250 nautical miles or 465 kilometers ahead.
    The cockpit seats are ergonomically designed and feature electronic adjustments for height and tilt. The climate control system offers individualized settings, and there's a small refrigerator for food and beverages.
    The avionics suite also includes several automated systems meant to assist pilots in emergency situations, such as the Ground Proximity Warning System and the Traffic Collision Avoidance System.
    7:02 - Engine, Performance Specs, and Flying Experience
    Now, let’s talk about the engine, performance specifications, and how it flies. The BBJ 787 has two variants, the BBJ 787-8 and 787-9, and primarily flies with one of two powerhouses, depending on the customer's choice: the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 or the General Electric GEnx-1B.
    The aircraft requires 8,500 feet or 2,600 meters of runway to take off at sea level on a standard day. The engines allow a maximum rate of climb per minute of 2,500 feet or 760 meters, and a maximum cruising altitude of 43,000 feet or 13,100 meters. The plane has a maximum cruise speed of Mach 0.90, or approximately 593 knots, with an average hourly fuel burn of 5,000 pounds or 2,270 kilograms.
    Coupled with its enormous fuel capacity, the aircraft boasts a maximum range with 25 passengers of 10,000 nautical miles or 18,500 kilometers for the BBJ 787-8, and 9,500 nautical miles or 17,600 kilometers for the BBJ 787-9. And finally, the minimum landing distance is 4,500 feet or 1,370 meters, and the maximum net payload is 78,000 pounds or 35,000 kilograms for the BBJ 787-8, and 105,000 pounds or 47,500 kilograms for the BBJ 787-9.
    9:09 - Purchase and Charter Price
    The base purchase price for a new Boeing BBJ 787-8 is $250 million, and $300 million for a new Boeing BBJ 787-9 before options, and the charter price is estimated at $40,000 to $60,000 per hour.
    9:35 - Operating Cost
    While the annual fixed cost is roughly $5 million to $8 million, the average hourly operating cost is estimated at $20,000 to $30,000.

      Which is exactly why no one has aircraft like this other than governments and Russian oligarchs who don’t GAF about public perception. This is a charter aircraft.

      Pfft you speak like you are one of those normies. 300 million is nothing compared to the alternative of sharing a jet with the peasants.

    What are you talking about? They removed the side sticks. Boeing never ever had side. sticks to implement. Boeing has strictly been a yolk. Cockpit control since day one lol.

    “The is the Boeing BBJ…” The Boeing Boeing Business Jet. It’s gonna take a lot of trips to the automatic teller machine machine to purchase that.

    This is a really old video, this was sold from Deerjet years ago. I managed this aeroplane until 2020

  • @Ticklemetuesdaygoose
    @Ticklemetuesdaygoose Před 5 měsíci +4

    Ok, lets chat about this one. The airplane requires 8,500 foot runway to takeoff, but can land on 4,500 ft runway? So, if, hypothetically, the plane landed on said 4,500 ft runway, it would never leave. Just some food for thought goose.

    • @victoradedamola4797
      @victoradedamola4797 Před 5 měsíci

      Meaning you cannot land at just any kind of airport.

    • @AviationBase
      @AviationBase  Před 5 měsíci +2

      That's the same with pretty much any jet, the takeoff and landing distances mentioned in the video are not a mistake. For example the G650 has a takeoff distance of about 6,000 feet but the landing distance is about 3,000 feet

    • @Salutimondo
      @Salutimondo Před 5 měsíci +2

      So in an extreme emergency landing situation the jet can land in a greater number of airports. They will not be caring too much about whether it can take off again if they were forced to land to save lives. Goosey goosey gander.

    • @MysteeriusFrend
      @MysteeriusFrend Před 5 měsíci +2

      It's about take off weight and landing weight. More energy is needed to get off the ground versus coming to a stop. Also, lots of jets might have to dump fuel before making an emergency landing, because they have to be at or under a certain weight to land. Otherwise, they run the risk of going off the end of the runway, or damaging landing gear. Velocity can be a b***h.

      @@Salutimondo umm, during your preflight you discuss all your diversion airport options along your flight path is 100% based on runway lengths both landing and takeoff. it's just silly how this video worded everything.

  • @ronliebermann

    The price tag of this aircraft is a little misleading. For example, the material cost of this machine is probably thirty million, or less.
    In the absence of a free market, the “price” can be anything the government wants.
    If this plane were listed at nine hundred million dollars, the customers wouldn’t see any difference in ticket prices because the government controls all prices by subsidizing certain goods and services.
    If the government didn’t subsidize the aircraft unions and airlines with payroll taxes, then these planes wouldn’t be cost effective to build and fly.
    They wouldn’t exist.

    $300 million.....laughable. The cost to acquire new is around $250 million, but there is no aftermarket. That explains why the Mexican presidential aircraft sold as a head-of-state aircraft for less than $100 million.
