Ya this lot are so excited about Bluetooth while sennheiser has a much better range for wireless headphones at home. On a plane, whenever that will happen again, I use an older Sony with active noise cancellation. Those feel better than the Sony X1000xm4s.

Something important to consider is durability, the build quality is amazing and they will last a lot but you can't use them if they have no battery, not even wired. So imagine in 2-3 years you will have to charge them very often to use them. I have Sony’s XM3 and having the option to use them wired when they are off or have no battery means that I can use them until the materials fail. Also not being able to turn off the APM means you will get many battery cycles fast, with my Sony’s I can get a week or more because sometimes I use them wired with my PS5 or my Mac. Battery is probably going to be an issue in 2-3 years with the APM and that's my biggest concern now that I'm looking to replace my XM3, I use everything apple and the APM sound great for apple users but for that price I would be expecting 4-5 years of use in good condition and I don't know if it can happen.
The weird case you set aside right away might actually be essential, seeing as you stated the cups are super easy to remove... wouldn't be surprised to see them removed by accident a bunch when you snag them on something or the headphones get dropped

I honestly feel like this is headphones that if you don’t have a home theater, you get these.
There are far better options without audio sync problems with much more range and has balanced sound or high bass if you want to activate them. Sennheiser has them, Bose too as well as Sony and AKG that are specific for home usage.
I agree. The computational audio is best in class. Everything else is arguable

They have great sound stage music friend let me use them and there’s so much detail even in busy areas and you can tell where sounds come from. I definitely think the Apple ones are much better than the Sony’s but I’m not a bass junkie

Anyone who is serious about headphones (e.g. not thinking that Bose and Sony are premium/expensive) is in no way shocked by the price of these things. Some people I know who are real audiophiles consider these to be a good deal for what you get, especially with being wireless.

I believe the sonys sound good but working with them as a former sales person on sales floor I would say if it wasn’t for the Sony app to push that bass downnnnnn and possibly turn off the noise canceling for some listening sessions it would be a hard sale
I’m not sure if it’s just my AirPods Pro’s but I wasn’t blown away by spatial audio on them. That being said I can’t bring myself even as a apple fan to buy these
I think Ken was spot on with the "luxury tech product" thing,and not being a pair of headphones you buy for utility. These seem more like something you would give as a gift then actually buy for yourself

For me its got to be durability of it all if im paying a premium i should expect somethings that last long. Even if the other competetion outshines it in terms of music and anf other features as long as it not really below than the rest and its durable for its price.

Actually they do say they are the greatest audio experience... And no they are not worth 550$. Especially with that case that doesn't even protect them from dirt and debris. Who thought they needed those 4 slots at the bottom?
They are not even sweatproof. And they turn off after 2 hours of wasting battery if you don't use the stupid case that you use to carry them around... meaning that mesh will be ugly and dirty on the lighter colors after a few weeks/months
Spatial audio is prob coming to apple tv next generation. $550 is absurd but when it could tick off the box for movies on a tv/home cinema that becomes compelling. Surround sound headphones easily go for $800+ and those are really only going to be used in the home cinema, not for travel or music
Okay so Ken being another person getting scratches on the charging port. Is he using a regular lightning cable to charge? I’ve been using a regular one and one from Anker that has metal. Just curious because I thought this would be something only affecting me since I’m using a cable with metal on the lightning port side.

To be fair to xm4's, if you long press the anc button they will reconfigure the noise cancelling and it completely removes all the pressure from your ears. My XM3's are the only anc headphones I can wear for hours.

Yes, they are made for Mandolorian TV. Once the series is over, they stop working ;) Do you get surround via AppleTV device? Then they might be worth it via AppleTV and big screen T.V.
For me I use the iPad with a hdmi adapter with my 55 inch tv and it displays in full quality, nice experience
I like the design of the Microsoft surface headphones, but I like the features of the AirPods max so what if they mixed together for a supreme over ear headphones?

I didn’t buy these when i had the chance.. here’s in Canada with tax it came up to $880... but after watching plenty of reviews from different CZcams channels, Tech Reviewers.. even engineers.. the price could slightly come close to being KINDA and that’s a stretch reasonable. ONLY because of course music and using it on diffferent apple devices seamlessly ..but movie theatres are seeming to come to an end because of the pandemic. So now we truly don’t have to leave our homes and can enjoy tv shows movies in “the best sound” at home we can get which is to ourselves. It’s weird .. but i think that’s the combination that apple was going for. Their Eco system.. Apple Music/Apple Tv/Apple Arcade... and quality hardware = this price.

If they had a power switch and a way to not enable either active noise cancellation or passthrough, yeah they would be worth their price. For me those are big enough limitations to make me not want to buy them at all, at any price.
See if your complain is the Sony M4’S have to much bass you can just adjust it in the app!

The only thing that I can appreciate from this headphone is just the removable earcups with magnets, that's smart actually, besides that, ehh 😬. Audio quality? Subjective, maybe the spatial audio thing 🙄? even if the audio is better than your "regular" $350-$400 it's not something than you can completely notice the difference. Also, it's metal, heavy. There's a reason why other company doesn't make it from metal.

So... Are these headphones meant to be used primarily in the home or are these headphones for outside use?

-- How much will it cost to repair them should you drop these metal cans on a hard surface?
-- Are these the headphones (expensive, recognizable) you want to be wearing on the subway or in major urban cities during civil unrest and high unemployment?
These headphones seem out of touch if these are meant to be used while on public transport commuting or in the general public. If you have the Airpods Max on, you are a high value mugging target as you probably have $1,500+ of Apple gear on you. Something to consider.
The headphones 🎧 are amazing the sound is great 👍 u will like em they are not ip rating but I use them when it was hot and I sweat a bit and they didn’t get damaged so I can’t say but I bought em at Best Buy they are amazing
Although I'm an Android user, I only got AirPods Pro because I can't wait for Sony WF-1000Xm4. I mean: I can't believe they aren't out along with the headphones.
In India for the same price you can buy a Sony XM4, an Airpods Pro AND HomePod Mini. Now thats a much better deal than just headphones.

The special audio doesn’t work when you listening to music. I think it only works when you watching a video. So, no point on that. At least the Sony’s have 360! And more customizing options. Functionality is zero for Max. And another major disadvantage are the headset cups! You have to use it compulsory because if you don’t, the battery starts draining faster. I don’t think anyone wants to roam around with that. Its a awful designing. And lastly, is the weight. There is so much more!! For $550 not worth getting this.

Ken, just an advice, when trying Over-ear Headphones take the hat or something like that because it doesn't what is supposed to do, just watch the Phonedo Review on these Airpods Max, when he gaves it a friend to try it, she has a beanie (I think that what that is called) and makes a major difference. - I like ThisIs, but just and friendly advice.
Don't forget that the Sony's have an app with an EQ but the airpods max you are stuck with apples sound

I'd really rather have the Sonys or a Bose. Apple can pack in whatever features they want to justify the price, but at the end of the day, I'm still expecting my $550 headphones to sound like $550 headphones.

The real cost of this headphone is $600-670 since it does not include an adapter, aux cable, a real case.
You can set up a surround sound system with the echos and buy a Sony 1000xm4 for similar price.
The AirPods Pro you can get for $200 have all the smart features this headphone have.
I went for the xm4 + AirPods Pro mix.

I'm a kid so I don't have money and I gave my brother an extra pair of earbuds that I saved up me money for because I got a new pair of earbuds and now my new earbuds broke and my brother never used those earbuds I gave him but aparently one of his friends stole them so now I'm sad and don't have anything to listen to music or do school with and never gonna trust my brother again am I in the wrong?
I am about as much of an Apple Sheep as they come but I just cannot think of a good reason to buy the AirPods Max. I have been using the beats solo 3 icon wireless and they are really good. The sound quality is pretty good, they pair just like AirPods with my iPhone, Macs and iPad but cost $200 less. For an extra $200, a pair of headphones had better blow my mind.

Yeah but let’s be honest, why would you use spatial audio? To me on such a small screen it doesn’t matter. When you’re in bed watching a video you don’t turn your head. It stays in one place. And you can get surround sound with your normal headphones, sure it doesn’t move, but like I said you’re not gonna be moving your head when looking at a small screen or any mobile device or even a tv. Your head is mostly stuck in one direction.
everyone is complaining about the price even though there are much MUCH more expensive premium headphones. the only difference is they aren’t made by apple, so people don’t want them. these are made by apple so everyone and their mom wants them, so they feel like they can complain about the price being too high when it’s not even that bad for premium headphones.
