Heck, I bought them. The AirPods Pro have given me such a nice ride for the last 6 months and plays so nicely with iPhone, iPad, appletv, imac, etc that these AirPods Max were a no-brainer... sure MAYBE there are better offers for the price, however the build quality is hands down insane. I kinda understand the ugly case, every time I put them off somewhere I’m actually a bit stressed that they will scratch or something, hence the purse-case (could be definitely better for sure).
Price-wise, yes, it stings, but hey, the second thing I use the most daily after underwear’s are headphones, it will all be worth it. In fact, every hour I use them I like them more.
EDIT: agreed on the bass topic. Some songs have surprised me with a “what the heck were those” as it was barely hearable before. I’m no audiophile though, so I might be wrong on many levels.

@@alejmc Same here. I had been using the AirPods Pro and Sony XM3s alternatively prior to the AirPods Max, but it's just so much more better than both. Sure, maybe not $300 better, but better nonetheless, and eventually, I'm pretty sure it would be worth it over the long run.
I’d want to see them compared to something like a fidelio from Phillips.
For the price of a Max, I can buy two Pros, one for me and a friend, and still have money left over to take us out for lunch

Awesome comparison man I’d go for the max but I got the pros 3 months ago and I don’t regret tbh. I like the portability I also like that I got a notification that I was listening to them full blast for seven days 😅

Best over the ear music sound quality I’ve tried with the iPhone was the Parrot Zik II (paired with their app), but the build quality was so-so. Really looking forward to trying these - have been using Bose at home and AirPods Pro everywhere else.
Thank you very much for the mic quality comparison! The Max mic sounds better but not night and day better. I hope you will do it too in your comparison between the AppleMax, the Sony 4 and the Bose 700 microphones as well as phone calls is what I will be using it the most for. Reviewers too often skip the microphone part unfortunately...

I have been testing these Airpods Max for 3 days... No comments regarding the price. Pure performance here. They do have too much treble. In some songs I needed to reduce volume to go easy on my ear drums because of too much exposure of high frequencies. These headphones definitely are good if you prefer listening to podcasts, interviews - they are crisp clear and oh yes - movies! Like in the cinema. They do brilliant job canceling the noise around you, no doubt in that. But I would not choose them for listening to the music because the high frequencies they produce will bring you headache and ear pain. Literally, when I put on QC35II on my head after Airpods Max, it just like taking Ibuprofen and coming back to normal life. Adding stupid and useless case, weight, bullkiness, no way to turn them off feature and price in the end . . . Let Tim Cook and his team wear them. Stick to any Sony and Bose. And those who already have XM3, XM4, QC35, QC35II, NC700 or Momentum 3, don't even think of changing your headset for these. Bad apple. And those who stay in a line for 12-14 weeks, do yourself a favor, buy Sony on Amazon and enjoy extra $300 for some other gadget or else. I 've been really waiting for this release and really wanted to keep 'em but just too many features that needs to be improved to be on par with the competitors.

It's always unfair to compare between a earbud and headphone, considering the driver size.

Would you recommend the max for gym/running/fitness? I heard they aren't waterproof and I'm not sure the weight of the metal design would fair well with highly intensive physical training. I'm in need of headphones because my AirPods always fall out when I train. Could you perhaps suggest alternatives that are slightly cheaper and more fitting for my use? I'm primarily after active noise cancellation, lightweight, build and sound quality. Maybe the Sony WH-1000XM4?
So when are they coming out with a sports model or a model I can workout with? Will they be even more money?

The only problem I have with the AirPods Pro is self-inflicted when I forget to bring the charging case with me and they drain the battery while not in use as I haven't a way to turn them off when not in use if any. I have not looked for a way turn turn them off if have have left the house without the case.
AirPods Pro has a passive+active noise cancellation design, meanwhile Max has discarded passive noise cancellation. Passive cancellation could offer a great performance with low-tech design, that high efficiency is hard to achieve through active cancellation
Interesting and useful review. Finally, a reviewer who gives an opinion! One point: I never see discussion on charging and maintenance. Which device is easier to charge and needs the least amount of stuff?

I tested the differences at the Apple store. Bought the max (going into debulhando) and tested more at home and decided to return the Max (heart broken). Why? Convenience on the carry and found the sound quality close enough budget wis. I will say, I want the next version and I will wait.

Max how do consider the sound quality when using the mic quality on the AirPods Pro compared with the EarPods I personally thing that the EarPods connected with wires does a better job with regards to removing the echoes from the room but the microphone on my new MacBook Air are even better because they do not introduces the scratching noises that a tangle cable introduce to the sound when you have forgotten to untangle the cable before starting the recording.
As an aipod pro user, I completely understand what you mean by flatness of songs. I absolutely love music and being lost in the different levels of noise and pitch is a massive thing for me. I absolutely love my AirPod pros so I’m wondering if I should make the upgrade. Honestly I really don’t know..

Awesome video guys! The AirPod Pro's really have a lot going for them especially with the price reduction to £199 in the UK (John Lewis Store & 2 yr guarantee). Just would like Apple to offer a proper equaliser setting like the Sony one in its app. I still can't work out who the Max is for apart from using them at home or the business guy taking long haul flights. You really would be not street wise to walk around the city wearing the Max - you'd get mugged! I bet they are great for DJ'ing with though. But I couldn't spend £550 on headphones - much rather spend that on a mountain bike which keeps me super healthy and doesn't ruin my hearing after a few years of use.
PS Carl Conrad has copied you guys with a review similar to this but has included those rather crappy AirPods basics too.
Can you compare the AirPod Max to other $500 headphones? Even ones that do not offer noise cancellation. Some may just want the best $500 sound, since we are working from home more. How is the sound compared to an open back headphone, for example.

I've heard comments on how Airpods Pro Max include support for Apple spatial audio, without thinking much about it. And then I heard an interview with Steven Wilson (musician), and it finally occurred to me that would include the new Dolby Atmos audio support. So my question is, have you tried any of the few albums which are available in Dolby Atmos? The few I've found seem pretty expensive, so I wouldn't blame you if you haven't bought any of them.
Can you do a review of the marshall motif ANC? They're the ones that look almost exactly like airpods pro.
I got the airpod pros and I love them, but they scrape and hurt the inside of my left ear to the point where it will bleed, so I need the max if I want the features of the pros without it hurting

Does the mic work when using the Lightning to 3,5mm cable?
I own both I use the max for my MacBook for gaming and the pro for my iPhone for music I’d say the noise cancellation is more better on the max then the pro but max as less bass and not as loud I find and the pro has more bass and more louder maybe because it’s more closer to ear as they’re ear buds. I’d say both are great they both have great sound quality there no saying that one of them are bad they just have their own different bass or sound in them they can be similar but a slight difference in a good way

You should be comparing apples to apples such as I heard on another video comparing the Max to the Sony XM104. How do you like the Pros to other brands of earbuds?
I tried the AirPods Pro and they sounded a little better than my Gen 2 AirPods, but I have sensitive ass eardrums and the Pros created too much pressure to be comfortable. I LOVE the comfort of the Gen 2 AirPods and honestly they sound great for simple Spotify listening at work. At $550, damn, just can’t do it... that’s a ludicrous amount of money for headphones! For $170 on sale, my AirPods were expensive but they get used a lot. Definitely a quality of life purchase.
I tried out the AirPods Max’s earlier to see if they could replace my AirPods Pro, but something about the audio was off. So I returned them…

This is a kind of weird comparison between different product categories. Do you want massive over ear headphones with great sound quality or ultra portable earbuds with necessarily compromised sound quality? Comparison surely over.
Why don’t you use the AirPods near to the mics to test the sound quality?
This video really helped me as I am looking for the best sound experience for music and movies. Convenience not important since I will be using in my home or seated in an airplane. I am willing to pay for best audio sound.

I toggle spatialize stereo on my MAX’s and it sounds incredible watching your videos. Its as if i were there i front of you. I bought the pros but unfortunately one of them wouldn’t stay inside my ear and trying different ear tip options. I got the 3rd gen regular airpods for the portability and use the max for when using the train and traveling.
Spatial audio is superb on my Pros. I didn’t but the Max because they are a bit too expensive for me and the case is stupid. I bought the Sony WH XM4 instead because the ANC and sound quality are supposed to be the best in the class. Plus it comes with a nice case and can be used with a 3.5mm cable for hifi audio.
Max, why don’t you compare them with Sony x4 ‘s or Bose maybe Beats?
Can’t you just use a lightning to aux adapter ($10) then plug a normal aux cable?
Maybe you should also link all the songs you are using for tests so we can do the comparison at home too :-)

How can you hear the music at full volume?
He heard 10 and 15 Hz, doesn't human hearing start at 20 Hz? He has super hearing or the way these headphones process audio is inaccurate/bad or the test he used are bad. Professionals use in studios Sennheiser HD 650 and I start hearing something in them above 21Hz, Max can you redo this test but use the *Test Oscillator in Logic Pro?*
11:15 is it the difference between in-ear and not in-ear that causing the effects?
ive had 2 pairs of pros die on me, all to the same thing, earwax buildup, and then when you try to clean that earwax, it just breaks. I've cleaned my ears to the point of bleeding and yet I still manage to eventually break them with earwax, When they break, they break, the ANC is unuseable because it will blow your ears out with a feedback loop right in your ear. And if that doesn't happen, you won't get any sound at all.

Microphone works plugged in and Bluetooth, it has to be on for the mic to work in all
Can you discuss wearability between the two products? Given that many of us are working from home, I am wondering if the pro max can be worn straight for 8 hrs as opposed to AirPods Pro that start to get uncomfortable after 2 hrs or so.
Hi there, did you get your answer to this? I’m wearing the max’s now andhave been for three hours. I can feel them but they’re not annoying. In transparency mode, you can literally forgret you are wearing them.
