  • 👉 In this episode, I interview Sally K Norton, author of Toxic Superfoods, about the dangers of oxalates in our food supply. We discuss how oxalates can cause numerous health issues like arthritis, thyroid problems, and more.
Sally shares her own health journey of discovering oxalates were the root cause of lifelong issues like joint pain and sleep disorders. We talk about high oxalate foods to avoid, like spinach, almonds, and sweet potatoes.
Sally explains how oxalates accumulate in tissues over time, leading to oxidative stress and inflammation. We discuss the best ways to detox from excessive oxalates. She provides tips for healing oxalate dumping syndrome.
Sally shares inspiring stories of patients improving from serious autoimmune diseases and chronic pain by lowering dietary oxalates. We talk about the lack of oxalate awareness despite evidence over centuries of its toxicity.
If you want to learn more about reducing your oxalate load and improving health, don't miss this insightful interview! Be sure to check out Sally's website and book using the links below.

For a more balanced view, listen to the videos from the Goodbye Lupus (Brooke Goldner) channel, and Dr. Sarah Ballantyne video on Oxalates. The problem is clearly misunderstood, and the problem with eating oxalate plants is hyped. Vegan Haters with closed minds (as are many Vegan nuts) will not admit the truth. I am not a Vegan, either, but they have as much good information and results as Keto and Carnivore do. Just look for the truth.

Kidney stones, cystic thryroid, parathyroidectomy, plantar fasciitis, joint pain, mysterious need for tooth extraction. Never a doctor, and there have been many, who even mentioned oxalates. Not the urologist nor endocrinologist.

We tend to forget that a lot of our food is sprayed with Glyphosate which is horrible for the intestines and creates leaky gut. Research articles show that damage to the gut is directly related to oxalates and kidney failure. Much of the attacks on you or us is by the vegan community regarding these warnings against eating certains vegetables. You can't criticize any plant based foods without receiving their wrath. If you critized animal based foods they would remain quiet or applaud you, of course. In the keto community which I'm a part of, cutting out nuts and some greens is a conundrum. Tip toeing around different wholefoods is tricky and confusing. We must ultimately follow the path of what is healthiest for us.

.."most urinary oxalates are actually the ones formed naturally as a waste product in the body, less so from dietary oxalate. However, for those prone to oxalate kidney stones, a lower oxalate diet could still be beneficial to limit the number of oxalates reaching the kidneys. Cutting the oxalate-rich foods in your diet alone will not reduce the likelihood of forming calcium oxalate kidney stones as reducing dietary oxalate is not the only way to avoid kidney stones. In fact, drinking sufficient amounts of water to dilute urine to prevent oxalate collection in the kidneys remains the #1 recommendation."

Does drinking water right after a high-oxalate meal help flush oxalates from the kidneys?

    • @karolynann4106
      @karolynann4106 Před měsícem

Yes, read on the Colorado State University website an article called, "Should I be Avoiding Oxalates?"
      by Lacey Eaden:
..."a specific type of bacteria that resides in the gut called Oxalobacter formignes breaks down oxalates and uses them for energy. This process prevents oxalates from binding to minerals and limiting their absorption. Studies have shown that people with low levels of oxalate-degrading bacteria in the gut and those with certain digestive disorders are more prone to higher levels of oxalates in the body."
..."most urinary oxalates are actually the ones formed naturally as a waste product in the body, less so from dietary oxalate.

When I hear people stating "We should eat a plant based diet" it infuriates me. We are Obligate Carnivores not ruminants or herbivores or even omnivores. If we dont eat nutrients only found in meat we die. Simple as that.
We have no or limited mechanisms for dealing with all the toxins found in plants, we cannot extract energy from them and we can only extract a tiny amount of the actual nutrients they contain.
Plant diets were always the "food" given to the slaves, the prisoners, the lowest of the low, the rabble no one cares about, just to keep them alive for a bit since they were going to die anyway.
Kings, nobles, warriors and leaders always ate meat, because meat is the only food Humans are meant to eat and the only food you will thrive on.
Look at the general public of today: An obese, metabolically sick, tired and dumbed down mass of slaves that are being slowly poisoned.
Look at what the Royals, the Politicians, the Global leaders eat

This is very informative - confusing topic. I get annoyed though when they feel the need to disparage the carnivore diet. As if oxalates are the only thing causing problems. Plants have lectins and other anti-nutrients which is why we aren’t meant to eat them. Flip side the carnivore community needs to talk about the problems of the dumping issue so people are aware they may need to keep some low oxalates in their diet. Or if they are having issues maybe reintroduce some Oxalates to slow the dumping. Though I’m not sure if they need to reintroduce a small amount of high oxalate or should it be moderate amounts of low oxalates?.

God created fruits and vegetables to eat:
Genesis 1:11-12 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
Genesis 1:29-30 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
Deuteronomy 8:7-10 For the LORD thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills; A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of oil olive, and honey; A land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack any thing in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass. When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the LORD thy God for the good land which he hath given thee.
