There are other channels out there who do an excellent job as well, but I always gravitate to you first when looking up guides on setup and in-depth reviews for various handheld products. I actually feel like my Patreon dollars are going towards someone who loves what they do. Keep up the good work.

I've got it set up and playing many games, but I'm looking for tips for file transfers, best options, etc. Even though I've owned a few Android phones over the years and devices(Shield Portable), every time I get a new one, it's like jumping in the deep end of the pool. • @SlamBolts
    @SlamBolts Před 2 lety +79

    A couple of things about the controller mappings: The B button on the Wii is essentially a trigger so it's best to map it to R2/RT, same for Z and C for the left side. A is mapped to Circle, 1 to Square, 2 to X and Shake to Y. On the other hand, the best layout for Gamecube is to map the B button to X/Square, Y to Triangle and X to Circle, it makes more sense considering their position in the controller.

    • @animetodamaximum
      @animetodamaximum Před 2 lety +20

      For those who use an Ayn and not a PlayStation controller. A is mapped to B; B is mapped to Y; Y is mapped to X; and X is mapped to A. Then triggers are mapped L and R respectively and Z is mapped to R1.

    Regarding file management I can recommend to use a synology NAS and the ds cloud app. I put all my Games and other files on the NAS and sync it to my Odin with the ds Cloud app. As soon as I put a new game on to the NAS it gets copied to the Odin automatically. Also the savegames are stored only in one space. I can then use the games folders and savegames on all my other devices.

    Thanks Russ, a great resource to refer to. I've only set up PS1, PSP and PS2 so far and just been enjoying playing, it's been great. This limited use also means I only need to swap from 'Xbox' to 'Odin' on the 'ABXY' mode before docking then use a wired 360 controller and it works fine on a big screen. I'll set up Retroarch next, but frankly I'm in no hurry, my 351p still gets use for 8/16 bit systems and is so light and convenient, in fact I think I appreciate it more since I got the Odin which was unexpected, still love that little guy. Best wishes :)

      Yeah, the RG351p is so awesome. It's the device that changed my perceptions of those Chinese handhelds.
      I still remember before Anbernic, there aren't any Chinese handheld that I could play for long session without getting pain on my hands, not to mention the horrible build quality as a whole... hardly lasts more than 6 months. The performance to handled systems up to PS1 was surprised to me too! Some years ago, I just couldn't find a decent device that could play games like Gameboy's Pokemon and saved those games properly! I really hoped Odin could play PS2 just like 351p on PS1, Cause that's my second home console to owned and played... my retro 'next gen' so to speak.
      Too bad, it's 50/50...

    Great tutorial, good work as always.
    One question, on my Odin Pro I can't play Super Mario World (BSnes HD Beta) at more than 30fps. Are you using OpenGL or Vulkan in retroarch? What settings did you change in the core?
    Thanks :)

    This is perfect for those who would considering ordering Ayn Loki if they're gonna make the Super Dock compatible with it, so the Super Dock serves as a perfect support unit for either the AMD or Alder Lake variants since we're not sure whether or not the Intel variants are gonna have Thunderbolt on their Type-C port.

    Hey Retro Game Corps, I’m not sure if you’ve done a video on it already (and if you have I’d love to watch it!) but if not could you please do a video on getting multi disc ps1 games to work in retroarch? I’m having a really hard time with this and would love a good guide on it!

    Just a heads-up when setting up navigation bar, Some apps like Magic DosBox don't seem to understand the 'swipe' setup and expect the three bottom bar buttons. (It uses 'back' to bring up its UI for setting up controls, Keyboard etc.) So if configuring DOS games that first time you might want to have the three button setup. You can always change it back to swipe mode later and get that bottom screen real estate back after.

    Pro tip: The libretro team actually has an f-droid repository for RetroArch for Android. There are currently still some issues with it I think, but once they get that properly running again it might be the best way to get an up-to-date complete version of RetroArch on Android.
