I used to weigh 353 lbs, I now weigh 180 lbs, I can now sing “I’m half the man I used to be” with pride.
Make this about you, fatty.
That's awesome! I've got 70 pounds to lose myself.
That's not easy. Good job.
I don’t, I miss my weight I lost it too fast and don’t see myself like I used to. I’m half the man nearly too.
I believe the lyrics are about a man coming to realize he’s aging and half the man is the period when he won’t be in his prime for too long and moving to post prime etc

"Feeling uninspired, think I'll start a fire" has new meaning for me after listening for years and years. That's why I love music. It's poetry. It's art.
the only decent thing about the movie the big short is the line "truth is like poetry. and most people fucking hate poetry." fuck poetry, im just here for cool sounds.
@@anthonygrych8724 didn't even take note of it rhyming, but I will say it's sad you can't hear the meaning of that line. Simple thoughts for a simple person I guess.
@@kloiebraelynn8875 Prince of Persia (2008) had two characters, the prince and the princess. They were arguing all along the game on whether art is good. Prince was a poor, philistine, uneducated thief, and the princess the opposite: educated and kept within the castle walls.
It gets really interesting if you think about it, and the debate is less about art and more about spirituality. People who think humans are special and have souls love art. People who think of human brain as a totally physical machine don't respect art. These are the people who'll say AI generated art is also art, unlike their opponents, who say AI art is soulless.
(My two unsolicited cents.)
I don’t get it

Was looking for Radiohead Creep but found this....I'm not disappointed
You have just found the best band that came out from the best and most influentied era of music.
Yes. Yes yes. 90's
You won't regret at all, check their albums, such a great band, r.i.p Scott
You found better, congrats
@Ty rapper guy no sir I don't
Funny story: When this song came out in 93-94 I was 19 years old. The name of the song always eluded me on the radio (they never mentioned the artist or title) and when I sang it to people they had no idea what I song I was talking about. I was sure it was Nirvana so I listened to every Nirvana album trying to find it and never did. I gave up and eventually forgot about it. 10 years later around 2003 it came on the radio and that's when the DJ said "Stone Temple Pilots with Creep". I laughed in the car and then cried thinking about how 10 years earlier I was sitting in my parents house scrambling to find the song, and how time had seemingly passed so fast. Now I'm a grown man. Funny memories...
back in this era i was into cooper sabbath kiss metallica etc now its weird i have a nostalgia for 90s alternative

You should still try and cause a lightning fire or something...just saying.
I'm amazed Scott lived as long as he did
+Shanda862004 It''s...kind of true though. We're all distraught about this, but at the same time, his addiction got pretty out of control. You remember how many tours he had to cancel earlier this year?
+Tairy Greene I thought he would end the same way as Staley... I was right unfortunately. He lived 48 years of Rock N' Roll and drugs, a genius
That was my first thought when I heard he died today.
We peaked in the 90s people.
Everything from that time forward is on the losing side of momentum we had as human beings.
The most beautiful part of it all is that we all shared it together of you are reading this today...
Look back and smile for joy is fleeting and increasingly rare..
Maybe if u listened to lucki idk man
Some would say that we peaked in the seventies, but you had a few high points
Thank you I’ve been saying this for years
Is crazy because we really didn’t understand how good it was. People weren’t so fake, we had hope, and people care about each other regardless of background. Not to mention the lack of worry. It’s like a literal dream now.
I was a rave dj from 95-2003.
It was literally paradise on earth. People loved one another. Love was an actual thing people shared and felt between people. It wrapped you like a warm blanket..
Hate was not as prevalent in people's hearts. It was the closest we got to ending racism as we all tried to be better toward eachother. Music was amazing. People were attractive and unique and interesting. Conversation was real and people were MODEST. The idea of "influencer" was a disgusting idea and peoplelike that were seen as ego-maniacs and psychopaths.. You had to OWN knowlege as it was in YOUR MEMORY not in your POCKET.. Social media destroyed earth and we will see this after the third world war... Love your brothers and sisters as this dream is over before you realize it had begun...
This song takes me back to a time when the world seemed simpler, and the weight of life hadn't settled in so heavily. Each note is a poignant reminder of moments lost, of dreams that slipped through fingers like grains of sand. It's a melancholic symphony, an anthem for the broken-hearted souls who find solace in the haunting beauty of sorrow. I find myself drowning in the waves of nostalgia, clinging to the echoes of what once was, but can never be again.
Beautiful words
Love this
❤
Belas palavras brother, eu penso igual a você.

I'm an old dude and the 60's were a great time for music. The second best was right here in the 90's. From grunge to bands like Pantera and White Zombie to Beck and so many others. It was fresh. It was different. It was a good time to be young.
Can't say it any better I'm 50 and grew up 80's but the 90's shaped me as a young adult .
I ALWAYS THOUGHT THE 70'S BROUGHT US THE MOST INTERESTING VARIETY OF MUSIC. AS LONG AS YOU TOTALLY IGNORE DISCO.
@@jefffriedmann1482 Back then I was totally Death To Disco. Now, after winning the battle, I can enjoy SOME disco. But I love the funk and the TSOP and other really cool stuff that came out then. No one heard of punk or glam and now most bands try to copy what we had 50 years ago 😆😆

I am struggling with life in general. I am inundated with unexpected debts thrown at me. I don't know how long I can hack things for. However, this song gives me strength. It may be 30 years old now but still in my hearts. Back in 2004, I was walking the streets of Lodz, Poland and I hadn't heard the song for ages. I'd had an awful day at work. Then I heard a Polish busker play this on the street and I cried. Moving tune.

Many singers of the 1990s had the gift of representing the pain of young people in an increasingly competitive and soulless society. They told teenagers that sometimes feeling bad is ok, that anger and pain were part of the human path. Unfortunately today, there are no such singers anymore, the money and this sick narcissism killed any creativity in music. This young generation, the selfie generation, is already doomed. I hope the next generation will be smarter and more rebellious.

That’s awesome dude, it’s honestly one of the best genres of rock out there, but it’s just such a shame it died out so fast like a good flame it went out twice as fast as a bad one, all because we lost Kurt Cobain, and Layne, so soon, to soon... but at least we can still enjoy the era when it reined supreme.
@@joshshrum2764 I’m 15 and I’m the same also I agree, you’re right.
@@joshshrum2764 Most grunge sounds alot like Southern rock mixed with alternative anyways to me. Although when I looked it up it says Punk, and alternative, lol, it goes better with bands like Sixty watt Shaman, Alabama Thunderpussy. Not any punk band that I've ever heard. The internet doesn't even define grunge very well. There's plenty of good stuff out there still. Although losing any great singer, and band sucks. Plus in the old days things were so reliant on channels like Mtv, and Vh1, nowadays you dont even need radio stations, just plug your cell phone into the car stereo, and listen to whatever you want.
My son too.
My 12-yr. Old grandson introduced me to Nirvana. I lost my mind. 😂 Then I discovered Soundgarden and lost my mind again. Been overdosing on Alice in Chains for awhile now cause ......Layne! 🥰. Time to give STP a try. The Interstate Love song was the first one I heard and loved. I'm 61 . Better late than never? 🤷
Forward yesterday
Makes me wanna stay
What they said was real
Makes me wanna steal
Livin' under house
Guess I'm livin', I'm a mouse
All's I gots is time
Got no meaning, just a rhyme
Take time with a wounded hand
'Cause it likes to heal
Take time with a wounded hand
'Cause I like to steal
Take time with a wounded hand
'Cause it likes to heal, I like to steal
I'm half the man I used to be
This I feel as the dawn
It fades to gray
Well, I'm half the man I used to be
This I feel as the dawn
It fades to gray
Well, I'm half the man I used to be
This I feel as the dawn
It fades to gray
Well, I'm half the man I used to be, half the man I used to be
Feelin' uninspired
Think I'll start a fire
Everybody run
Bobby's got a gun
Think you're kinda neat
Then she tells me I'm a creep
Friends don't mean a thing
Guess I'll leave it up to me
Take time with a wounded hand
'Cause it likes to heal
Take time with a wounded hand
Guess I like to steal
Take time with a wounded hand
'Cause it likes to heal, I like to steal
I'm half the man I used to be
This I feel as the dawn
It fades to gray

Thanks man

@@bethedwards233 You've "corrected" the lyrics by making them wrong?
Remember: Half of nothing is still nothing.
2:10 to 2:27 brings a tear to my eye as I sing along
Love STP.
Y’all should try listening to this at 2x.
little kid in 70's, teenager 80's, became adult in the 90's, Great music, great times to grow up, miss it
Me too bud.
Agreed
Same!
Same !!! 47 years old here!!!
To bad I grew up in the 2000s today’s music ain’t the same as it use to be
Best chorus ever especially how they made like a double chorus. It was already very good and powerful with just the "take time with a wounded hand" part but once added with "I feel as the dawn it fades to gray", then that's just pure gold!
that line is sung by the guitarists
@@JP47471 yah Robert!
the chorus is the type of riff that is so good you learn it by ear after a single hearing and vibe to it completely in a trance
music doesn't get better than this, the overlapping vocals did most of the impression here indeed. Great comment
Good point
personally i hate choruses, they are so predictable i enjoy a less structured composition
The first CD I have ever purchased was this album in 1994 at age sixteen. Still appreciating it today.
Listening to this @70 years old and still loving it
they rarely make songs this good anymore
Agreed my friend
+jonh smither Just curious, who is they?
+jonh smither look up Theocracy I think you may enjoy them :D As the World lies bleeding or Gift of Music are two great songs
Matthias Herman will do, thanks for the suggestion. I really enjoy avenged sevenfold, hail to the king reminds me of a classic metallica song
Matthias Herman looked them up, knew immediatly they were a christian band. The music is ok, im an atheist so its not my style, i prefer harder stuff than them.
Anyone else feel a lot different hearing this in their 40s than they did as a teenager?
absolutely
Of course... 47 and jus go back in the music! A lot of these guys of the 90's were struggling mentally...
Guess I was a well, it's why it got me...
Absolutely
I'll come back and answer your question in 20 years
@@sillythygoose enjoy your youth, friend. Do wild shit.

I always revert back to my 90s grunge Rock when ever I need to forget or remember
Nice
Feel ya
this song makes me remember how reckless and care free I was in my youth, now I find myself buried under a ton of responsibilities that only help to breakdown my spirit and dim my hopes and dreams. as I go down this road, I look back and realize that I'm only a shadow of the person I used to be
Alejandro Meza we have to live life to the fullest before it's too late.
Alejandro Meza
True
We are more often treacherous through weakness than through calculation
To me, its how shame sounds. Its how my shame sounds. Its half hearted for me. I'll say "I promise I won't do this again." And then some time later I'll go an do it and feel like this. Half the man I used to be.
Alejandro Meza haha thats deep as fuck bro smoke a joint brother an just chill. Whos to say ur not on top of all ur shit an then all of a sudden u stroke out tomo. Gotta have a balance.
The 1993 Unplugged Version is the real Thing !
