Lyrics:
Waiting on a Sunday afternoon
For what I read between the lines
Your lies
Feelin' like a hand that lost its ring
So do you laugh or does it cry?
Reply?
Leavin' on a southern train
Only yesterday you lied
Promises of what I seemed to be
Only watched the time go by
All of these things you said to me
Breathing is the hardest thing to do.
With all I've said and
all that's dead for you
You lied-Goodbye.
Leavin' on a southern train
only yesterday, you lied
Promises of what I seemed to be
Only watched the time go by
All of these things I said to you - Hudba
The only bad thing about this song is that it’s too short.
No words have ever been more true
3.14 minutes of awesomeness.
Ditto
Nothing great ever lasted long enough.
good thing there’s a replay button my brother
The first 15 seconds alone is enough for me to fall in love with this song
the first 15 seconds feels like the guitar is telling you that no matter what, life will always go on :)
Gian Reyes Right!
Gian Reyes I really like the intro too. I wish this song could've ended with that tune but longer.
Gian Reyes i agree that intro sounded so badass
I love the intro so much too it's sexy
Everyday after school I would hang out in my dad's card store and play MTG with him and the customers. My dad's radio was never changed from the local rock station so I must have heard this song hundreds of times before I even knew what it was. You don't have to know something to love it, to appreciate it.
My dad passed away March 24th, 2015. Every time I hear this song, I think of him
I'm sure you're dad was a good person
Music is special like this. Hope it's gotten a little easier on ya now 6 years down the line. Luckily I still have mine, can't imagine the grief on that day. Keep rocking those memories bud!
Agreed. Music is a wonderful way to refine and preserve the memories we all have of loved ones who have passed on to the next realm.
lol lit
Good memories
My 8 year old son put this on in my truck while going to the store yesterday. Then proceeded to sing every word. Damn I was proud lol
🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Now that’s a good son right there
good parenting
So jealous. My step kid only likes gangster, thanks to his real dad.
Then your 8 old son has a crappy taste in music. If it was my son, id throw him out of the car
Does anybody else think that this is the perfect song to BLAST while driving off into the setting sun?
I sure do!!
It’s a kickass road trip song.
That's what I am doing right now!
Stp Is my road trip music to be honest. I do a lot of traveling for work and when I drive it's usually what's on.
This one and Big Empty
In a Chevrolet Camaro
That opening guitar is something that could be listened to on repeat for hours. It instantly evokes a feeling. The first 15 seconds is pure magic.
YES!!
ikr, whenever i play it on guitar it just makes me so happy
that´s bossa nova for you
Definitely, have always felt the same!
Pure nostalgia
Robert DeLeo is a highly underrated bassist. The man is a genius and great backing vocals to boot. Show that man some respect.
Okay I showed him respect
Mission passed Respect + $15000
He's definitely one of my inspirations.
Side note: He wrote the song. It was his inspiration that conceived this song.
He is one helluva bassist and songwriter. He just dances in the bass.
He wrote the song with a $25 guitar with nylon strings. That's talent! Undeniable!
One on the best rock n roll hooks of all time.
One of the best choruses ever too
perfect chorus
So many hooks it's all a hook. Spectacular work.
Its a great song its just boring as hell though
GRUNGE!!!
this song will never get old
Amy Ainley right
U damn right
Never!
I'm old now, and just enjoying. It makes me feel young.
Yes... it wont
Sometimes a guys gotta hear this really loud for no reason
or for all the reasons
It's me.
At least twice a day, I’ll sing out loud “WAITING... ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOOHOON!” For no reason, doesn’t matter where I am.
@@kurina- Wisdom comes from experience - Einstein. You will get there.
Too, btw 😃👍🏻
@@kurina- Isn't there a song about you!? Oh nevermind it's Tingly Boi.
I can't count how many times I came here. This is one of the greatest songs I ever knew. Beautiful, heartfelt intro with pounding drums, which I have often hummed while thinking of the future and of life; orgasmically perfect riff, and a flawless voice.

Interstate love song is one of the best tracks that stone temple pilots ever wrote. It got a lot of airplay on the radio.
The bass line in this song is perfection - in a song that is also perfect.
I can say this aong is one of the best ever. Period
WeAreAllOne ExceptForThatGuy Just learned it! Great bassists create great lines🎶🎸🎶
WeAreAllOne ExceptForThatGuy agreed. The only era of American music that competes was the late 60s to mid 70s.
Check all their songs. Their bass was so strong
WeAreAllOne ExceptForThatGuy word. The cowboy lick, the verse chord structure. Weiland's voice.
I understand art is subjective, but how can anyone NOT like this song? Classic.
Right? I feel like this would be a perfect song to introduce someone to 90’s rock to. The riff is kickass, but not too heavy, has a great bass line, and a beautiful chorus. Someone who hasn’t heard many 90’s alternative rock songs would probably really like this song.
@@mr.noride7226 I agree, but I wouldn't call them alternative tbh. They're too good for that label :P
Only a white person could think this
it’s not long enough
I don't like it. It's annoying. I listen to it for another reason.
To anyone still listening we got robbed of so many great musicians and music....
1. Kurt Cobain
2. Scott Weiland
3. Layne Staley
4. Chris Cornell
Among so many other's!!! Thank you for all the inspiring and beautiful music you all wrote!!! RIP in Grunge/Rock and Roll Heaven!!!

Growing up in 90s was hella of a drug
growing up on drugs is a hell of a drug
You mean 80s and 90s

Don’t really know what this song is actually about, but ever since I was a little kid, I always envisioned this song as making me feel like I’m on the way to my final destination, whatever that may be. Hard to explain but maybe someone else gets it. Like I’m on my last journey to my final destination in life. And it’s almost like an upbeat but depressing feel at the same time. Almost like I’m accepting my fate or something.
There's a definite feeling of contemplation in this song...
I feel exactly the same way about this song! It’s so beautiful and fun, but also sad at the same time
The song is about leaving a drug addict who has been saying they would quit and never did.
Total movie moment right there
And he was the drug addict.. the song was written from the view of his girlfriend/wife whatever when he was out touring saying he was off the drugs etc andhe was lying... To her
The fact of the matter is that you simply can't top this song. It is one of the greatest songs of all time.
Just a couple kids from my hometown who used to play our house parties who made it big.. Pretty cool..:)
That's super cool actually!
Is this really true?
"Breathing is the hardest thing to do" :( RIP Scott

Mason Bennett ????
Mason Bennett idk I say laynr should be remembered more than Kurt no disrespect to Kurt but layne was definitely more talented. People better not forget about chris anytime soon he and layne were the 2 best grunge singers
Definitely one of the Best Songs of All Time
I realized recently that this town I’ve grown up in for 20+ years isnt where I want to raise a family. It’s a nice town but i got involved with so many of the wrong people when I was younger and it’s at the point where I’m always running into them and trying to stay straight (I don’t do drugs or get drunk on the daily anymore) and I have the best girlfriend ever who I want to marry and maybe have a family with if the world isn’t so fucked up by then. But this song...this song is what I’ll be playing when we drive off to our new home..where ever it may be...and it still hurts that I’ll be leaving my parents and my brother...and many old faces that I wish things have went better between us...I had many great friends but circumstances come and I came to the conclusion that none of these “friends” matter in the long run nor did they ever truly care about me. So yes, I will indeed be leaving on a “southern train” and still be thinking of all the things that they’ve said to me...
leave the town my man. I believe in you
Greatest song intro ever
Come on man...
Aki Sky I know right
Gimme Shelter- The Rolling Stones
the type of intro you play over and over again once you got the CD.. and the type that would bring everyone's attention to the radio when it came on
this and Big Empty have great intros
Timeless, absolutely timeless.....
I feel like this is one of the most underrated grunge hits. Not a lot of people talk about it which is a shame cuz it’s a great song.
I think this is one of those songs everyone loves, and everyone recognizes when they hear ... but nobody remembers the name of!
it's sad when a lot of people in the 90s were saying they just ripped off on pearl jam with the singing voice. they were more than that to me.
@@chrismill5303 This sounds nothing like Pearl Jam ... I can understand everything he says!
@@Grubnar true.
No, it’s one of their biggest hits and it’s really highly rated
I genuinely cannot fathom how someone could dislike this song.
It's the chorus that gets me everytime
Jon Bellis me too!!!!
Unless you grew up during these times it's hard to explain. It was like the Golden age of technology. Just enough to be awesome, but not yet out of control. Kids were still kids, people weren't so PC that we feel in a Orwellian nightmare.
I miss the 90's, and even the early 2000's.
mad hatter yup!
You have to realize that all your presumptions about kids are just the way adults portray kids not all kids are gonna be glued to their devices. Personally it just depends on the household you were raised in.
It's your generation that made the world what it is you shit lord you were all sitting on aol and playing pong while our governments in the west continued to get worse and worse and now MY generation gen z is trying to smack you all awake from your Nintendo induced comas to tell you how much you royally fucked up
Best lines about those times i ever read
I love this comment. I like to tell my father how fortunate he was to be in high school during the early to mid 90s and I'd switch timelines with him.
I've listened to this well over 20 times today and sure as hell ain't stopping anytime soon. THAT INTRO..
my son likes this song and made me miss the 90s. he loves 90s rock and it makes me feel old. but 90s were awesome.
I'm 45. This song is still as awesome has the first time the first time I heard it. In my top 5 Rock song of all time. I just love it!
when is your name coming haha
Such a sweet era of music. the 1990s and it's music went by so fast.
Aqua Man way too fast..
Take me back home please
You got that wright music in that time wen't by way to fast everything today is crap
amen, brother. Damn I miss it... went by like a warm summers day 😞
The 80s had nice music too
The 90's lasted 10 years, though.
This song never gets old
Never, ever
RIP Scott Weiland.
I honestly think this is one of the greatest pieces of art humanity has ever or will ever produce
Lead singer Scott Weiland wrote this song about his relationship troubles and his growing heroin addiction. When he wrote it, he thought about what kind of a liar he had become towards his fiancé, Janina Castaneda, and how he had promised to stay off drugs when they went to Atlanta to record Stone Temple Pilots' second album, Purple. He didn't keep that promise, but in phone calls, would tell Janina that everything was OK.
The song is written from Janina's perspective, with Weiland imagining her seeing right through his lies.
YES , its an excellent tine but How come nobody ever appreciates the bass work in a song
THE INTERSTATE LOVE SONG has a fantastic bass groove and would be this great song without it
hava good listen to the bass , that's what you feel deep inside you know !!!
Paul Tetreault as a bassist it is easy for me to the bass in a song, but most people either hear it and think it is something else or just can't pick it up. This songon does have a killer bass line.
English? Never heard of it.
Every single STP song has a great bass line. Robert Deleo is one of the all to greats!!
lol my dad walked in one time and thought this was a pearl jam song and was like "I dig that bassline"
Hmmmm....You must be a bassist😂
I was about 18 when this came out. Damn almost 30 years ago. Blink of an eye homie. Hits me in the feels big time
one of the only songs to calm me down during a panic attack
Kkkkkkkkkk yea specific specialist thanks
I'm glad I m not a millennium child all the 80s and 90s music kicked ass nothing today comes close to it.

The lyrics are handwritten in the liner notes (but I don't think people buy CDs anymore) so if memory serves, these lyrics are correct. Every time I listen to Meatplow, when Weiland sings "but not when the news is on", I always picture his little arrow to a side note where he writes, "as in, like, TV" :) The CD itself came with two art printings. I got the yellow imbricated version, but I see the flowery one more frequently.
@John Smith I always thought maybe he was hungry and was like "Feelin' like a ham and mustard sand witch...."
💋
John Smith I always thought he said “feelin like I have a rusted chain” Like maybe a neglected motorcycle would have a rusted chain 🤷♂️ glad someone actually read the liner notes 😆

God this song reminds of being in the military stationed in Seattle. Early 90's, what a perfect time to be living in Seattle. I met so many good friends there.
Each initial pull from the strings of the guitar reverberate in the soul, I'm now back in 1995 (when i first heard it). Those were the times
Easily one of the best of the '90s. Instantly recognizable and epic. 👌🏻
