You pointed out why its not selling well. Needing to use the base, not an Vesa mountable type product limits where you can use it. Its uses A LOT of space while being 2x + more expensive than an LG C3 at the same size.
Needing to use the mount would be less of an issue if one could move the monitor more than minimally. An almost fully set mount is a deal breaker for a lot of people. Even if I'd consider using such a large screen for my setup, the mount alone would be enough for me to look elsewhere.
Was about to say the same thing. If they decide to do v.2 chances are itd have a proprietary mount
Yeah, If I can't VESA mount, it's useless to me
yeah am really hating monitor stands nowadays... they always so damn pointlessly thick. I had briefly tried a AW3418DW and it was almost 1 foot away from the wall because of it's stand... was such a waste of desk space I had to return it. (it didn't look good either so it needed to be returned regardless)
Exactly! I was in the market for a oled for my pc around 2/3 years ago after I got a CX65 for the living room, oled monitors were just about coming to the market at insane prices of £2500+ for 34 inch ultrawide so instead I just got a C148 for £850 for my pc and PS5 and it has been amazing, the only issue is its too big for general pc usage (amazing for games though) and I think the 42 inch models are much more practical
Edit: Worth noting that if you don't want the motorized curve, the flat 42" C3 is only $849 at Best Buy, will likely drop to $699 like the C2 did prior to the 2024 line launch.
Definitely a good thing to consider, I did that but using it for programming the pixel density at 42” and my seating distance wasn’t a good fit, ended up returning sadly. Was great for games though. I’ll grab a 32” OLED 4k monitor soon. Warranty for burn in (not super concerned given how I work flipping between different apps frequently and also play games in the evening) plus 240hz will be nice. But hard to beat the c2 at 900 for a gaming focused setup imo.
Once you get a curve, you will never go back to flat.
I don't think I want curved, unless I'm using it for gaming only. Running a 3 monitor setup now, main 4K 28" I think and two 27" 1440p, one vertical.
Loads of real estate. But I still want more! 😂
@@bjarnis tried a curve
Went back immediately
@@Leadathanit's a bit weird in the beginning, but in the long run it's so much better for your neck with 1R curved. I have dual monitor setup with a Samsung Odyssey G9 and a G5 side by side, so much better than a flat dual or trippel screen setup.
That RS6 Avant is rad. I'm not a big Audi guy, but fast Audi wagons hold a special place in my heart.
Had a fruitless attempt at convincing my parents to get an older S4/RS4 Avant last year. The R8 is great for like 95% of my needs but would LOVED to have driven around in that in times when I need the extra passenger/luggage space. They settled for a much newer A4 Avant. They're getting on in age and prefer the comfort so I get it, but it was a nice little dream while it lasted lol.
Only Jay can walk out of the store with a $2000 monitor "JUST to see if it fits." 🤣
I mean better then spending 2k and cant take it home lol
They know where to find him
@@GirlOnAQuest makes think it would be neat if stores had acrylic boxes in the rough shape of their typical TV box sizes so people could check fitment.
@@filanfyretracker I mean you can just walk back in and return it or have them hold it while you get another vehicle. There is no real risk here.
to be fair he basically lives there
The EVGA "end of an Era" PC build in the background behind Jay, is still one of the greatest looking builds of all time in my opinion. So, esthetically pleasing.
Glad to see he is still using it.
I would die happy just to be able to own one of those cases. Lol
Jay - I bought an LG C3 42 Oled at Costco with free 5 year warranty. Using as monitor and very happy with it.
the IR exender is for home theatre installs. if you hide your AV receiver it needs to send a signal to the tv.
I went to Micro Center for the first time ever to pick up the last R5 7600 in a 200-mile radius. (this include the competition's stores) I wish I could have stayed longer. The deals, the amount of options, the stock, and the fact that we can see before we buy, was something I have missed so bad. Live demos, and racing sims for people to play. The professional dressed staff that is actually knowledgeable and passionate about tech. Almost EVERYTHING was on sale and under competitor pricing. It was worth the 2 hour 5 min drive. I know where I'm buying from for my next PC build!
I've been running the 48" C1 as a monitor since it came out, and it's been fantastic! Zero burn in or other issues with many hours of daily use for the past however many years. The only thing I don't like about it is if I'm watching CZcams not full screened or messing with documents in Windows, it will dim quite a bit until I grab a window and move it around the screen to get the brightness back. I think you'll love the C3 Jay!
Same ... And comically I am still using a GTX 1080, because even though I am willing to spend $2k on a TV to use as a monitor; the cost to meaningfully upgrade is absurd, when I can get 4K 60hz (in the types of games I play) by using a $40 Display port 1.4a to HDMI 2.2 adapter.
Im up to a little over 7000 on hours according to my C1 and I still dont see any burn in on any test patters. The only thing that I have noticed is the dirty screen effect at 50% gray has gotten worse over time. Its made it very hard to go back to any lcd screens lol, especially games that support hdr.
My biggest complaint is the judder on movies. I've tried adjusting the various smoothing options, but can't quite dial it in where I'm totally happy. I can mostly ignore it, but certain panning shots are super noticeable and it still bugs me. Everything else about it is great (mine's a B3).
@@holdenhodgdon3756you can actually run 4:2:0 color compression 120hz from hdmi. I am using 1070 ti and plan to get c3 soon
@@hoogovens3261C3 has better processing I think because for me movies are quite smooth, although I agree you might need to mess with the smoothing settings sometimes
Why is your $2,000 TV displaying ads on 50% of the home screen?
Welcome to modern smart tvs unfortunately it sucks
Tip for getting TVs back from a store if your car is too small. Order an Uber XL and just load it in that, then just follow it home. Way cheaper than in store delivery.
Dude that’s an amazing tech tip I’ll keep that in mind
Beautiful RS6! Surprised this couldn’t fit in the back, that car is spacious!
All Micro centers are half a country away from me... I live next to Seattle Washington and we are craving a Microcenter like there's no tomorrow. even southern Oregon would have a shorter drive up here than all the way at the bottom of Cali or in Colorado. they really can't give us one, huh?
This! I would love to have a MicroCenter somewhere in the PNW.
Yeah Micro Center is a weird one very few stores and they don't ship its as if they don't like money
I'm fortunate that I have one a little more than an hour away
I feel your pain I’m by buffalo ny and the closest one to me is in Ohio like 9-10 hours away
*grumbles in German*
I was running into this exact problem of 4k monitor vs tv and ended up with a 42 inch lg c3 and I’m absolutely loving it
I got the same one on sale for like $850 and it’s been perfect. No complaints.
I was at one of the stores in the midwest recently and most of their monitors were down on display desks. with systems attached and mouse and keyboard so you could get on the web and view different content on them. Was really nice to be able to test them that thoroughly.
Got myself a 42" C2 last year, when the prices came down. Attached to an Ergotron HX arm it fits my setup beautifully. OLED just makes every gaming setup more enjoyable.
it's very hard to go to micro center when you live in Canada! They haven't got here yet, but we could really use it here
i wish you couldve seen what Frys looked like before they closed down.. my local one had a coffee shop in the middle it was that big. they had absolutely everything, including endless aisles stocked with components for DIY repair work. the kind of stuff you just dont find in stores.
Same with Germany. But I'm actually glad we don't have one, I would be bankrupt in an hour 🤣
We have MediaMarkt here, if it's in a bigger city it can be huge with lots of products, still not Micro Center big but it serves the purpose.
We do have Memory Express and Canada Computers which are almost like Micro Centers but not as good
The overwhelming majority of most Americans do not have a MicroCenter near them, either.
Stop complaining man. Some of us live in erup so we can't even drive down to the us if we wanted to
I literally was going to purchase this exact tv/monitor. I didn't end up purchasing it since the screen is plastic due to the bend, which in my experience, micro scratches too easily when cleaning gently (G8 OLED, DWF etc).
Ended up w/ the C3 42" instead. Still love the flex though!
that is a very good point
@Jason-ol1ty yeah, if it was matte, micro scratches wouldn't happen. Glossy plastic screens micro scratch too easily. Granted, you wouldn't see them unless in a dark room w/ a flash light. I have OCD, so peace of mind was a bigger sticking point after my experience w/ G8 OLED.
I love these Microcenter videos. We don't have anything this size in New Zealand. We have some pretty good smaller retailers, but even they would be drooling walking into that place.
Another plus, all this stuff gets down here so previews and reviews all help.
I'm just at the beginning of the video and already it's awesome! Thanks for showing us this. Some of us don't have these micro centers.
Also A Starship Troopers game that is like being in the movie and awesome.
Careful. Helldivers 2 has the MOST horrid anti-cheat software that is Kernel level. Google before you purchase..... let alone install. The company behind it has been caught stealing people's livelihood in the past.
The book is way better than the movie.
I love LG. I have two 21:9 ultra wide 3.5K UltraGear displays in my home office. I also use them on my workstation PC which is also great for gaming.
In the living room, my other gaming PC is hooked up to my Sony 65 inch 4K TV, and I didn’t know that all the features that were introducing latency could be disabled until just a few days ago, and it made a dig difference making me want to start to use that room for gaming again.
not in Seattle. too much crime there
Tf is even 3.5K?... 1600p?... Cause I have that, but that's what I call it.

When I worked for Best Buy back in the mid 90s, Acer was one of the PC brands we sold. They have been around for a minute for sure, and weren't that bad, compared to Packard Bell, back in the day... 🤣
Acer used to be the "Kraco" of the PC world at one time, remember those terrible car stereos you could buy at Wal-Mart and truck stops?
I had a Packard Hell. I loved that thing!! Lol
I'll see your Packard and raise you a Gateway@@NviGWarren
@@NviGWarren We were told to sell the hell out of them. They had a higher profit margin per unit so we pushed them over any other brand. Considering the tech at the time (talking 1995/1996), it was less about performance and more about reliability, but they did their job.
@AzraelsTear, I am currently using a 27" curved 1440p @ 144Hz Acer that I bought last year form Costco. It has been working just fine.
I wish MicroCenter would come to where I live and move into the Fry's building that's been vacant for years.
In SD?
I bet you he is referring to Frys that closed in Wilsonville, OR@@Chowderhead1
Micro Centers are like a tenth the size of a Fry’s. At least the 2 fry’s that were near me. I think even a Walmart would be too small. Fry’s was the biggest store I’ve ever been in.
@@Bigheadedwon Agreed. Here in Atlanta they had taken over what used to be a movie theater. The issue with Frys needed such a huge space is it was essentially a Best Buy competitor that also focused on computers. So you had a large space taken up with home appliances.
Renton WA? :(
Always love this format of intro’s Jay keep up the great work ❤
I love these videos of you/crew going around Micro Centre and going through things as we would see them.
My tip is to watch a CZcams trailer for any of the IMAX documentaries. The best possible downscaled image. 2160p from IMAX 70mm film is sharp AF in a natural way, and can really show of SDR monitors for daily content watching
Thanks for the suggestion man. I kept using Sony or LG's samples.
that's lowkey genius mate.
It suks over here in the uk we can’t have anything like this. You get micro centre we get the local computer shop with only 4 things on show
Yea it's like that most of here tho unless you want to drive hours sucks too I've been wanting a new monitor so bad but hard to find one affordable and that I want
There always Currys.....
Curry’s is useless though have you ever been there and walked out happy with what they had on show.
I got the LG48GQ900B 4K Oled monitor for a year now, and i love it. I use it for work and gaming.
Jay..........! I just want to thank you for all the knowledge you all provide that I not only did I upgrade my PC but also learned enough about monitors from you all that I got a new one to help me play RL... thanks guys! keep on keeping on!!!!
19:10 Can we take a moment to appreciate the responsiveness of the curving of the monitor? That was near instant after pressing the button, and it was so quick, too!
the fact that $2k is expensive for a tv is crazy to me. i remember that being the norm for tv's around 15 years ago or more. i still have a sony bravia i bought in 2005-is that went for $2k. hell, i had a nearly $4k dlp tv back in the day. we're spoiled now with $700 tv's, but they seem to have short life spans. gone are the days of having a tv last 15 or 20 years taking up space in the living room like furniture, lol
my fam loves this, dad used to be a tv repairman so every time he sees a "low tier" $300 4k tv hes mindblown. Its awesome
A lot of people on CZcams comment sections seem to be broke. I would happily spend $10k to get a high-quality, >100" OLED. Or even a massive 110"+ model
I’m running on a 65” LG mini LED. It’s the same model that you showed last year and it works great with my setup in my living room.
The nice thing for you now is you can repurpose the ultrawides for the racing sims. 😉
I'm headed up to my closest microcenter in about two weeks and i'm excited. i already have the build list with where everything is in the store, and i can't wait to actually build it!
If you didn’t come from tiktok raise your hand 🤚🏽
No
Your pretty funny
@@antonwilkens9694You’re*
I love tic tok so your being a guy
I remember going to a MC back in 2017 and seeing an ultrawide in person and was sold pretty quickly. A drastically different experience over seeing the monitors at a typical Best Buy. Been using the same monitor since. Want to visit it again, but I know I’m going to walk out with something new.
I have an over 15 yr old HP monitor that still works. I use it for a second work monitor. It looks better than the POS my job gave me. They don't make em like they used too.
That's my monitor :D !
And to be honnest, after 6 months I'm still really happy with it
I definitely would be interested in a follow up update
I use an 8K 55" Samsung QN700B as my monitor. Absolutely love it, with a window manager its an infinitely adjustable bezel-less multi monitor setup.
7:30
You could wallmount the stand :D
Like... Actually making some room in the wall and kinda "inserting" the base into the wall.
Can’t WAIT till the MicroCenter is open here in Charlotte, NC!
The IR extender thingy is actually called "IR Blaster" and it's really neat! I has nothing to do with using the remote from someplace else (btw the cursor feature of the remote has no reliance whatsoever with IR, it must use an accelerometer to control cursor motion, as I've tested it works even from my bedroom upstairs when the TV is a freaking floor below me lol), you can configure any device that needs an IR remote to the TV and then you can control it using the LG remote as a sort of universal remote. Saw someone saying it's for AV receiver to communicate with the TV but it's actually the other way around. You can use it to control your home theater, blu ray player, whatever.
Glad to hear your car is motorized!!
Picked up an LG 42" C2 for $799, one of the best purchases I've made. Looking forward to the 32" 240Hz monitors though.
there was a Helldivers 1 and it was awesome! just played very differently tough
Can't believe Jay made Phil strap himself to the car roof.
What a monster.
When I watch these videos I am always learning new things, after 30 years of being a computer geek. Love you guys ❤❤❤
20:14 lol watching Jay play Cyberpunk, 10/10. 🤣 Monitor is awesome too btw, so pricy, but still cool.
Jay's stroking the kitty! 5:09
You're not wrong, Microcenter is the best place to buy Computer stuff. Bought my monitor there and I picked this one because it was the best looking one, in my price range. Without looking at monitors I think it would be an impossible decision to make.
I would love to see a 6 month and a 1 year of this monitor!
I wish we had a Microcentre in Australia. What an awesome showroom/warehouse.
My wife and I both have UltraGear 48GQ900 and love them!
Agree, I am having a difficult time believing it is twice as good as the C3. I have been using the 42" for about a year and it's been fantastic. I feel like it isn't big enough to really require a curved display. My other PC has a 49" ultrawide and the curved screen is 100% necessary. Another bonus is that I wall-mounted it so I have more desk space. Downside is you have to use the remote to turn it on and off, but I have gotten used to it.
Yes there is a helldivers 1, and it is really good
That's pretty cool that you can flatten or curve it- they finally found a use case for flexible screens! I thought that the idea was always neat but I could never think of a practical use case for a flexible use. I'd love one of these as my secondary PC monitor- the reason for that is that my PC is in the middle of the room, I have my main 3 27 inch monitors on my main work side but I also use a 4th 27 inch on the opposite side- that way if I'm the only one watching on it I'll curve it but if I've got guests I can flatten it out so everyone can watch. (Also got 2 keyboards and 2 mice hooked up- the only problem having 2 of each causes is when I restart my rig it won't boot, can't even get into the bios with 2 plugged in so I have to detach my second mouse/keyboard when restarting- not a big deal really.
I got 3 of these and put them at 100% curve around me. Excellent monitors!
Great review. I would love to have a follow up to see how it is to use daily. I feel it would be really helpful.
I bought a LG 27in oled 1440p monitor not long ago and it's so nice. Don't like the auto-dimming and sleep mode(?) that can't be turned off, but im learning to live with it.
Honestly, any video that you produce is worth watching!!.... BTW, that's one badass monitor/tv!!
I enjoyed some of the filming and editing elements in this video. Very engaging. That monitor looks wicked but very impractical. I love Micro Center. I live 3 miles away.
Congrats on 4 M subs =)
Nice its fully assembled.
wish we had a micro centre in the uk
I would love to see a follow up video in the future.
Thank you for reviewing this!!! This ticks so many boxes under my "ideal monitor" criteria. I would definitely spend the $ for this if I could afford it at all. The size and resolution are just right for 4k, but I wanted something that would be a curved 16:9 panel as well. What interests me is, is this a good productivity monitor? Can you try reading a big Excel spreadsheet or pdf form? Is local dimming an issue? I do wish the ROG panel would incorporate the motorized curve... that would be just about perfect, since it has the Display Port input and some other monitor specific things.
I have an LG 65” C2, and I am very happy with it; but I do have to keep resetting everything to the max after an update.
I've had a c2 for a year now, i love it.
Yep i would like to see the log term results and of course how it is living with it a daily driver
that's such a nicer set up MC compared to the by me in Cambridge, MA
That thing is nuts. I want one.
Definitely would watch a 6 month update. It’s a dope looking panel.
Would definitely like to get a update on the operation of the monitor
Said hello to you at the airport on the 18th! Im glad youre doing better and that youre such a great guy. Hope I can work for you or with you one day.
'Starship Troopers' - YAY!!!
I love your content Jay. You inspire me to do PC building. I’ve been building pc’s for three years. 2:47
Again Jay with the Microcenter content that makes me jealous. xD
A long term review would be awesome.
We so need a Micro Centre in the UK.
Having an LG TV with WebOS in the UK, the coaxial is probably for the aerial which used to be an analogue signal in the UK until they turned it off and just use digital signal through the aerial. In the UK this input is used for Freeview which is a service for all the free channels and some paid for by the license fee e.g. BBC
Back in ‘18 I went to a Fry’s to check out monitors. Best Buy’s selection was comical and microcenters don’t exist anywhere near me. I would’ve ordered a standard sized screen online but after seeing them in person I had to get an ultrawide curved screen.
Love the Audi man. That right there is my dream car but maybe the old school one. I have an 02 A6 twinturbo. Fun'ish car but has been a chore, lots of hours in the garage I spent wrenching on it.
Jay, sincerely hope you're doing we'll. Yes! I would like to know what your 6-12 month review would be and/or they had any additional upgrade to the item itself. I assume this would be great for mmos and my PS5 Pro (when it comes out). Thank you and take care!
Haha I saw you guys loading it. needed a van like my company one to load it 😁
I would definitely like a follow up video about this panel.
That's why I would love to have Microcenter in PR
I like the Tech would like to see an update in a few months.
Ive used the 48" CX, currently using the Aw3423dw but will be waiting for the 42" C4 @144hz when it drops or the 32" 4k 240/1080 480hz oled.
Long term would be nice, been looking for a TV/Computer monitor combo at home my self.
Tustin Microcenter is my local one also! WOOT 🍻🍻
I use a 42 in LG C2, the key is turning off some of the TVs anti - burn in features (auto dimming on whites etc) , you need an LG service remote and access code, easily found on line. (toms hardware has a guide on this) This likely voids warranty so I waited a few months before doing it . I changed my desktop and programs to dark modes and set pc to turnoff signal after 5 min idle to mitigate burn in risk ..So far I love it.
Why would you talk to a dish ? 😂 I'm kiddin', I love your videos! Keep up the good work! 👍
For DisplayPort or HDMI try to buy 2.1. Especially DP 2.1 at 80 gb/s or you'll end up with DP 1.4 at 32.4 gb/s and bandwidth bottleneck.
Loved how confident Jay sounded when he said what HBO is called this month...
I just got the C3 42” to have as a dual function TV and monitor. I’m a tv nerd, so I just couldn’t get around the compromises that need to be made for a computer monitor as far as media consumption is concerned. HDR formats not being great on Windows, color chroma being different, etc. So I got the C3 for the 120hz, low latency gaming and the full kit and kabootle as far as cinema is concerned; dolby vision, dolby atmos, 4k, oled, etc. I absolutely love it
LG has made a monitor that can give you a hug. An Emotional Support Monitor for fledgeling E-Sports players.
Now that I have a bigger desk to work with I'm definitely planning on changing my monitor setup. Right now I have a BenQ 24" 1080P and this ridiculously old Acer monitor that I have that's still humming along. I'm thinking dual 27" 1440P displays at least.
