Virtually all projectors are designed to project the image with the lens at either the bottom of the screen (table top) or the top of the screen (ceiling mounted). If you place the projector at either of those heights and it’s centered and perpendicular, you don’t need any keystone adjustment. Home theater enthousiasts don’t use any keystone as it degrades the image quality somewhat. Just take some care in projector placement and you’ll be fine with not having any digital image adjustment.

Video projectors today are easier to calibrate than they were back in the 1980s & 1990s when those projectors needed to align each of the three lenses to display a perfect colour image & they can also be mounted for front & rear projection. It's been a long time since I had a rear projection TV & those things were heavy.

I just want to mention the camera work in your videos. For example, in this video there was a lot of essentially "talking head" where a static shot would normally be used. However, Phil's very subtle "hand-held" motion and zooms into a closeup of you and back out to more of the room just make the video feel more alive and like I'm in the room listening to you. In the real world, if I were in a room listening to you, I would be making eye contact with you and looking back and forth at the thing you're talking about, and Phil captures that extremely well. And I'm not quite sure how Phil does it, but it's a very smooth and stable hand-held, not the super annoying shakey cam. Anyway, this is something I've noticed and really appreciated about your videos for a little while now and wanted just just mention that I notice it and I appreciate it and I think it makes your videos better. Merry Christmas!

Just want to clear something up on theater projectors. You can find 4k but most theaters are only 2k. I've had a couple of my films make into festivals and I have to have DCP (Digital Projection File) file created to playback on the theater projector. I only did a 2k file for my last 2 films because 4k was useless. It was surprising to learn this.

FYI Cinema still maxes out at 4k. The projectors are either using a Xenon lamp, which is the majority of equipment installed, or lasers which have been slowly rolling out over the last 4 years. It will be 2025-2026 before the majority of cinemas are 4k laser systems and at least 10 years before anyone might see a wider rollout of anything 8K or above. Even the top of the line IMAX laser system that they partnered with Barco/Cinionic on is only 4K.

I looked for hours to find a high quality projector screen under 500$ and I finally found the perfect recipe. I forgot the channel name I discovered that showed me the materials needed. But all ya need is polyester fabric and get grey, black, and white material. Then layer them together and stretch them over your frame. Depending on the type of picture you want depends on how you layer the fabric. And the screen is viewable from both sides and in a mildly lit room with a cheap(300$) projector. Definitely worth doing if your into projectors.

Allowing the choice of 4k or 240hz is a good choice. Led Is also great for longevity in not having to change a bulb. However, they've never been able to reach quite the same brightness, and that 2000 lumens might not be enough to give you the best image quality. You'd need a fairly dark room to get the full contrast, but then you also have to take into account hdr. My BenQ has 3000 lumens, and while I bought a spare bulb, I havent had to change it out yet.
It might also be worth it to buy a good screen. Even lesser priced screens have 2 layers of black and white to help reflect and prevent it from bleeding out the back.

Actually, the benefit of an HD projector is you can make the pixels NOT visible by simply having the focus at 90% to 95 % focus, not at 100% focus. The very slight faint 5% or 10% blurriness hides the sharp pixel edges. But you also have to slightly tweak the color settings when doing that because the tiny blurriness causes the RGB to cross each other causing a very barely noticeable shift of colors and brightness. You just have to slightly change the tint and darken the brightness just a very tiny bit to restore the intended colors and brightness. That is why an out of focus projector image at a theater makes the image look washed out. It's the colors lights crossing each other.

I’d consider it if it were brighter (higher lumens) because I don’t have a home theater that I can make super dark during the day. I have 1080p projector that maxes out at 60hz, but it’s 5,000 lumens. I can see the image even if the curtains are open during the day. The switching between 4K/1440/1080p doesn’t bother me. I’ll leave it set up for gaming almost always, and I don’t mind the settings menu dance.

I actually HAD to buy a projector because I couldn't buy a TV in Japan and bring it back home to my country after two years, while a small, relatively cheap projector was portable enough, and kinda cool. I literally DID just use an ironed bedsheet pinned to my wall, and it worked GREAT with my Xbox One X when I used the black-out curtains in my room. I mainly play single-player games, but ancient Greece and Egypt (Assassin's Creed) looked AMAZING projected onto a wall! If I had the space and budget, I would definitely consider a projector for gaming again, so absolutely recommend people with the space and budget to at least try it!♥️👍

Also, as I'm watching the video, with the issue of fast mode dropping functions. All of those function, warp, keystone etc, need processing time. Even on the "big boy" projectors that cost ten of thousands of dollars, we still have some latency with those options turned on. Not mention the moment you turn those on and use them, you are losing resolution. I haven't come across a projector that doesn't add latency once warp, keystone, digital zoom etc is turned on. (25 years of being a live event/ broadcast video engineer) So to expect that in a $1600 home projector is kinda asking a lot.

Projectors usually work best in a room with enough space to do it justice, eg cinema room, the price would suggest it’d be of more interest to someone with greater means, or decent disposable income.
Having to manually fanny about with the 4K switch would get old pretty quick but if you did want to make use of the different refresh rates for different sources, I suppose you’d put up with it. Should have auto detect though.
Looks like it’d be ideal for party games, but I don’t have room for that in my man cave. Or any friends I’d care to let in there… 😂

Be interested to see this compared to similar priced models that arent gamming branded.
They should release a white and blue accent version for ps5 and would blend in with ceillings better.
Most people on xbox are probably doing the 4k 60 anyway. Noce they offer the 2k 120 for series s.

Ls11000 and ls12000 from epson can do 4k 120hz, laser illumination, hdr and crazy high lumen levels for all colors.
I went from a budget 4k Optoma, to a higher end benq ht5550 and finally landed on the ls12000.
3090ti, series x and ps5 look and play incredible with the ls12000.
It's costly, but I would love a comparison gaming at 4k 120z on a monitor/TV vs an equivalent projector.

Quick question in a field you may not be as good in as pc's. The PS5 box says 4k @ 120fps (doesnt state if thats native or quality settings etc)and also 8k. Is this an out and out lie or would the system be capable of either or both?
    Cheers

The input latency for this is different for each resolution. With gaming mode on at 4k it’s 16 milliseconds which is not noticeable at all. You only start to notice latency at 17 or higher. For 1440p 120 it’s 12 milliseconds, and 1080p 240 it’s 8 milliseconds. All resolutions and frames rates on gaming mode have great latency performance. With gaming mode off I’m not sure of the exact numbers but it didn’t seem so different at all.

My assessments in no particular order:
    - I don't mind the readjustments when switching from sources. That's a source limitation
    - Remote can be magnetically stored on top and sides of projector
    - Flat surface height adjustment changed to scroll wheel foot
    - 2-part dust cover for rear I/O for protection, access, and aesthetics.
    - Backlit controls on projector.
    - Support for a wide variety of wireless, low latency HDMI devices.

Ryzen 7 7700x, aorus b650m Elite Ax, g-skill trident z5 6000mhz, Gigabyte 4070 Windforce oc, 360mm Link AIO from corsair, 3tb of storage, Psu 850 gold and the case is a Sama Ar01 black. Remember if you're running through a receiver/processor, the video section of that must also support the resolution and refresh rates you're desiring from the projector (or any display). HDMI will always default to the lowest common denominator.

Jay I like you are not a video projection enthusiast until it comes to having a device that can easily be transported from local to location. Would not have one in my home unless I had a media room just for watching content. So I am very much a large flat panel display type of person.
Then I would look at highest rear screen solution I could find as working for Photo & Sound Company in its day we installed a great number of these solutions for media presentations. In the rental part of the company we had a GE Talaria video projector know as the "Lightvalue" that was used in high end convention style presentations in its day. This was well before LED solutions. In fact we had an employee whose main job was to travel the nation with this device, along with a high-end audio speaker solution. The speaker solution was such that you would not have the delay issue in the large convention halls, Use to love the staying about this system "Your eyes will water before your ears bleed" when it came to cranking up the volume.
