    Just finished my upgrade.
    Swapping out the throttle screw took about 15 min. Looking at the directions, there is no mention of needing a T-25 SECURITY Torx but but it is DEFINITELY needed.
    ECU took less than 5 min.
    I did take the header off and it gave me enough extra space to work easier.
    While I was at it, I put on a FMF Q4 exhaust which took more time to mount than the throttle screw replacement.
    Thanks again for the video!!!!

      These are "must do" for these bikes. I love the tuner. I can even pack it and make changes on the trail.

    Very Nice... I bought the GYTR kit for my 08 model. Came with smog removal items, jets, and throttle stop. I did the gray wire mod and baffle. Best thing I did was put on a GYTR silencer and ditched the OEM unit.

      +Dirt Hammers Hopefully down the road I will do the exhaust. If the GYTR is still available. It sounds like the best option since it is tuned for the bike.

    1:34 Your thumb isn't supposed to do that o.0That WR is sounding nice! This video reminds me of why I want to move to Arizona. Sorry to hear you went down. I can see by your visor that it protected your head, though.

    • @azdesertdog
      @azdesertdog  Před 8 lety

      +RacerRed This first one I face planted pretty good on the camera side. Thought I lost the camera. Luckily it just spun in the mount. I would have to have a very good reason to leave AZ.

  • @ALWhiteAuthor
    @ALWhiteAuthor Před 8 lety +2

    I was going to ask if it was running lean. Thought it sounded like it was stumbling a little bit down low when you started it after doing the baffle swap.
    Also, while you're out there running around in the desert, grab me some of that Desert Ironwood. Stuff makes fantastic knife scales. I have 5 of them in my yard but they're all still too young to start coppicing.

    • @azdesertdog
      @azdesertdog  Před 8 lety +1

      +AZ Patriot I'll keep an eye out. I always thought ironwood would make great pistol grips. This bike is super lean with the stock ECU in. So the baffle made it worse. I knew that but I wanted to see the improvement the "Competition" ECU would make. BIG difference starts much easier too.

    Been enjoying your videos! I have a 2014 wr450f - changed out the ecu and switched out exhaust for slip on big gun. When I changed out the exhaust had to go to a Wiseco FMC because bike was choking out. Previous owner took out throttle stop so added the one that came packed with the gytr ecu. Just curious you mentioned something about the exhaust baffle you switched out still meeting Forrest division regulations, do they monitor that out in AZ for off roading? In TN here at Windrock they could care less how loud things get. Keep them coming, ever get over to TN we have 300 miles of trails at Windrock I can show you.

    • @azdesertdog
      @azdesertdog  Před 8 lety

      +Scott Burdette Thank you Scott! That Wiseco controller sounds pretty good. The the exhaust baffle comment was more about keeping the spark arrestor. The NFS/BLM and G&F stop us to check the arrestor. We have pretty bad wild fires here. Sound is secondary. Exhaust replcement is a little way down the list. Suspension will be first. Thanks for the invite. I miss riding back east.

    • @scottburdette9443
      @scottburdette9443 Před 8 lety +1

      +azdesertdog ah, makes sense now. I didn't even put in the spark arrestor in my big gun, sitting n my garage right now....so my exhaust is wide open, sounds awesome. We have 2 places to ride, Windrock can be hilly with tons of rock, the other Royal Blue you are slopping around in a hilly mud pit..looks like your trails are relatively flat with some rock, a welcome site!

    I have watch this video several time and I am ready to install my ECU and throttlestop. I was just curious if you replaced any of the exhaust gaskets when you remove your header?

    • @azdesertdog
      @azdesertdog  Před 7 lety

      Thanks for checking my video out Nathan. Reused the stock gasket. For the little bit of money it wouldn't hurt to have one on hand. If you don't use it you'll have it for when you change out the exhaust system, if you plan to do that. Good luck.

    Oh there's a reason why everything is like that,at wrf it's not yzf,you can go easy low rpm for a coffee pa;)its also the reason you have licence okay?plus I have both of them & to be honest YZF you dont pay nothing wrf you pay here Europe 150€+50& (another 50 every two years) & those are if you move it or not;)42 years old 30 years motocross I learn something those years, you know?those last 30 years almost 1 life.I'm something between gasoline & oil ;)

      Thanks for watching! These were the first modifications to the bike a few years ago. In the states these are off road only bikes. A couple stated let you register them. Since them I have done an exhaust, GYTR tune able ECU and a bunch of other stuff. I'm 54 and been riding for 44 years. This is a great bike for the mix of riding that I do. Desert, forest, single track etc. 😎👍

      ok thanks because i was thinking about getting one and was trying to find out how to make it sound more like a yz450f

    • @azdesertdog
      @azdesertdog  Před 8 lety

      Truthfully. Save the $50 and get a LEXX exhaust for $199 on Rockymontainmc.com You'll end up doing it anyway. Plus you'll have the stock for noise restricted areas. IMHO

    • @cooldude_gaming728
      @cooldude_gaming728 Před 8 lety

      ok and do you have to mess with the jetting when you change it

    • @azdesertdog
      @azdesertdog  Před 8 lety

      The 2012 thru 2015 WR's are fuel injected. As long as they have the Programmable ECU no mods needed. A carbonated model @011 and earlier shouldn't need jetting with just a slip on. But that would depend on elevation and any other mods that have been made.
