The whole highway debate about bikes is silly these days. These things legally have to be capable of highway speeds to be sold as a motorcycle. A motorcycle that's not capable of riding at highway speeds would be considered a limited speed motorcycle, moped, or a scooter. And would probably not require full motorcycle license. At least that's how it is in many countries. Comfort is another question, but just being able to do highways is more or less a requirement for any motorcycle sold new today. People have wild imagination these days about what is a lot of power. 64(or 55hp for bonnies of last generation) is a lot of power to have between your legs, carrying a small vehicle. Especially with that very healthy amount of torque. It's not going to win races, but saying it's low powered bike is just absurdity. And somehow questioning whether it can ride on a highway is peak comedy. Of course it can. Bikes with half that power can. And the six speed gearbox argument is also funny. Do people not bother looking at the gearing on a 6 speed transmission? All you're getting out of it is a marginally better fuel economy. Which I suppose is nice, but that doesn't make a bike behave any better or make it more capable of highway riding. 5 speed in bonnies is beautifully thought out and geared, and is a joy to use. Regarding your comment about plastic gauge windows. Those are probably hesalite, the kind that is used in watches. And it has advantages, since it has much lower reflectivity index than mineral glass or sapphire glass, reducing the glare. Making them better for gauge visibility under a very bright sun.

On my very first motorcycle tour, in 2014, I rode to all 5 Utah National Parks. UT-12 and UT-95 were the highlights for me. I think I need to do that again.

Amazing bike, I had a 2013 T100 in Red / White that I LOVED. Had it perfectly set up with British Customs Sleeper exhaust and and other tasteful mods. Always kick myself for selling it. I'm on a Royal Enfield Classic 350 now, which honestly is a TON of fun (feels like a Bonneville with 1/2 of the engine haha). Planning to pick up another Bonnie' in the coming years. How was the comfort on the long ride? You would think they would have gone around those small mountains instead of blasting a hole through them. 😁😁

A.D.D., I like the Indie Ridge shoes. They have nice toe and ankle protection, seem/look/feel like a quality shoe. If you wear a standard width shoe after break-in you should be OK. If you have wide thick feet I would not suggest buying these. They are lite, and comfortable to walk in. Would go nice when riding the Bonneville.

Just wore my first front tyre out....bought my T100 new in 2020....had the Pirellis on it from the factory. As you say most people say no good.....I didn't have any big problems with them.....but maybe just me.....but I dont like riding in the rain. Rear tyre has lots of wear left in it.....the front was down to the wear bar at 7600mls. Replaced the fron Pirelli with a Michelin Road Classic.....A X-ply like the Pirelli....rear of course is a radial. I was surprised in the I do like the Michelin over the Pirelli.....its dont follow road line ect like the old tyres.....so must be something in what people say.....I keep a very close eye on my pressures as well.....alway ride solo....my weight all my gear on 100kg. Do fell any ill effects have a Michelin on the front and the old Pirelli still on the back. The Michelin is a less costly tyre here in the UK as well....with a 5mm tread depth....we are allowed to go down to 1mm....it has to come off then. I wonder seeing you ride dirt roads.....have you ever had any flat tyres with your stock tyres and if you did did it leave you stranded. I carry a bottle of tube goo or slime....and a neat small 12 compressor.....never needed any of that kit in the 3 years I have ridden the bike....hi-way only.

Nice trip report. How was the bison burger? I need to keep that place in mind because I've yet to find a place in S. Utah that serves bison. I've never stopped at that lookout on 12 because there's always been too many cars / RVs parked there.

I bought my AZ OHV sticker 2 months ago. Still haven’t received it. Pretty lame system compared to AZ State Trust land permit, which took about 5-10 minutes to buy and print out permit.

I did this ride in 2005 on a 2004 BMW K1200GT and it was awsome. Actually I made it from Los Angeles to Albuquerque in 18 hours flat. It had to have been a world record lol. The asphalt was brand spanking new back then..

Lineman lace up knee high boots offer good protection and are comfortable.

Great video with great intent. Helping bring awareness to rider safety. I think many of us have compromised in the past based on things ranging from mood to budget. But in the end, the old saying of an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure rings true. Ride safe.

Having lived in AZ for almost 15 years. The gent speaks facts. I would always leave early and head for the high country. Always have your skin covered. Camelback always works well. Little sips along the way and refill at every stop. A nice skull cap and body wicking tops and bottoms under your gear. Help keep you both dry and comfortable.

Looks like the entire city of phoenix was up there.

Didn't know AZ had nice two-lanes like those (but some of that pavement needed improvement), only been out there once and only saw the Interstates. It was a fun ride from Flagstaff down to Phoenix, though, once I got to finished pavement, at first it was the concrete base layer so I rode down the finished shoulder for a while (way back in '75). Almost no traffic; came across a sign saying "Elevation 8000 feet", followed by "S curves ahead", then "Hill next 14 miles", and a little while later, "Elevation 2000 feet"! No scenery I could describe though, sun had gone down by then.
