As a retired Corrections Officer, I can say that the chicken quarters and the pizza were the 2 most smuggled foods by the kitchen workers. If they actually made a whole lot of extra, on a lot more than one occasion, i would just let them take it without trying to smuggle it. it just made everyone's life a little easier on those days. it would've gotten thrown out and given for pig food on a local farm.

However I don't think equating American corrections officers to the concentration camp guards of the SS-Totenkopfverbände makes for an accurate comparison. Yes, there certainly have been incidents of guard-on-inmate violence & abuse. The "private prison" system definitely needs addressed. There are many issues with the US prison system which need to be, and to some extent are being, addressed. However with the SS-VT the mistreatment, violence, abuse, murder, and genocidal acts was part of their actual doctrine. It was "legal" (even encouraged) under German law at the time for an SS-VT officer to torture and/or execute a political prisoner. The "cleansing" of so-called political dissidents was part of their doctrine. Members of the SS-VT would be rewarded by the German state for their violent acts. There was also an instance in which my bunny asked to borrow a sheet. I figured she’d maybe sent hers to laundry, bled on it- whatever. I was there like 3 years ago, but it was actually a really beautiful place. Rolling green California hills. The worst part was the geese. I believe it. At my first job a female co-worker told me a story of her sisters friend asking for a hotdog for that. Later on she brought in a group picture with that girl in it. I was surprised how good the girl looked and thinking she would have no trouble getting the real thing. :)

I could be wrong, but at a chicken plant I used to work at, the same chicken that went to prisons also went to schools as well. I would imagine that it would be the same for most other foods too. 😖😱😳💩
Nick Hebb I've never been to prison, but I got locked up in the county jail a few times back when I was an alcoholic in my early 20s, and I can attest to the fact that jail food is A LOT like school food. And that is not a good thing. The chili was absolutely hideous--that was my first meal in jail--chili, salad, and a rock-hard bread roll.. for breakfast. Yes. Chili for breakfast. The only halfway decent stuff I had was bisquits and gravy, except for the fact that, like Joe said of the prison spaghetti tray, it will have you running your ass off to the toilet not long after you eat them. The tater tots were good, too, but that's not exactly a meal, but even so, I'd trade the nasty ass sloppy Joe's they had to anyone who liked them for their tater tots. Of course, the tater tots were EXACTLY like the school tater tots (if you had tots at school), as they were almost surely frozen and then microwaved or cooled in the oven rather than fried like the tater tots you get at Sonic and real restaurants. Anyway, just wanted to say that jail food, at least at the Douglas County Jail in Kansas, is pretty much exactly like school food.

I boil my eggs for 8.. I put my eggs in when the water is starting to warm up and when it gets to a boil I set the timer for 7/8 minutes and boom perfectly cooked eggs
I hope I'm not the only one who regularly watches this video while eating... I'm not sure how to explain it but it just gives me more appreciation that I'm eating a fresh homecooked meal... with no dead bugs or pubes in it.
Best tray I got is thanksgiving processed turkey one tbsp of cranberry jelly. We used to get German rye bread that we can make moldy acid with in Colorado. Taco salad was a good one. Fresh salad was a real good one. Used to make mackerel salad with honey and spicy ramen seasoning.

Didn't have that tray in blount county but in Knox county they did. They actually had huge breakfast trays in Knox biscuits and gravy with 2 bacon strips a sausage patty grits a piece of toast and milk was the only jail I've been to where the breakfast tray actually made you full. In blount county same breakfast tray every day 2 biscuits and nasty ass like half a cup of oatmeal worst tray ever besides from the tray my cellmates called chicken shit which was mac and cheese mashed potatoes green beans and mixed fruit worst tray because there was barely any protein would eat it and left you felling like you ate half a happy meal from McDonald's would always say "well that was a nice snack when's dinner get here when they came to get trays" xD

First off , I've only been in jail 4 days in a row max at one time . Never ate 1 bite of jail food . I always took whatever drink they had on the tray and pushed the tray away for whoever grabbed it first . That crap just turned my stomach .

I could be wrong, but at a chicken plant I used to work at, the same chicken that went to prisons also went to schools as well. I would imagine that it would be the same for most other foods too. 😖😱😳💩
Nick Hebb I've never been to prison, but I got locked up in the county jail a few times back when I was an alcoholic in my early 20s, and I can attest to the fact that jail food is A LOT like school food. And that is not a good thing. The chili was absolutely hideous--that was my first meal in jail--chili, salad, and a rock-hard bread roll.. for breakfast. Yes. Chili for breakfast. The only halfway decent stuff I had was bisquits and gravy, except for the fact that, like Joe said of the prison spaghetti tray, it will have you running your ass off to the toilet not long after you eat them. The tater tots were good, too, but that's not exactly a meal, but even so, I'd trade the nasty ass sloppy Joe's they had to anyone who liked them for their tater tots. Of course, the tater tots were EXACTLY like the school tater tots (if you had tots at school), as they were almost surely frozen and then microwaved or cooled in the oven rather than fried like the tater tots you get at Sonic and real restaurants.
Anyway, just wanted to say that jail food, at least at the Douglas County Jail in Kansas, is pretty much exactly like school food.

Best tray I got is thanksgiving processed turkey one tbsp of cranberry jelly. We used to get German rye bread that we can make moldy acid with in Colorado. Taco salad was a good one. Fresh salad was a real good one. Used to make mackerel salad with honey and spicy ramen seasoning.
I had to get the fritos smuggled to me. Thank God for the guy in the cell next to me who actually got canteen.

Didn't have that tray in blount county but in Knox county they did. They actually had huge breakfast trays in Knox biscuits and gravy with 2 bacon strips a sausage patty grits a piece of toast and milk was the only jail I've been to where the breakfast tray actually made you full. In blount county same breakfast tray every day 2 biscuits and nasty ass like half a cup of oatmeal worst tray ever besides from the tray my cellmates called chicken shit which was mac and cheese mashed potatoes green beans and mixed fruit worst tray because there was barely any protein would eat it and left you felling like you ate half a happy meal from McDonald's would always say "well that was a nice snack when's dinner get here when they came to get trays" xD

First off , I've only been in jail 4 days in a row max at one time . Never ate 1 bite of jail food . I always took whatever drink they had on the tray and pushed the tray away for whoever grabbed it first . That crap just turned my stomach .

I've been in jail . Apparently a week with no food wasn't long enough . Next time , I'll try and stay locked up longer .
