@Labyrinth9000 I've watched Soo many Angola documentaries & none of them have ever mentioned that... I may just make a trip to LA just to be able to take that tour... Lol.. I have a weird obsession watching prison documentaries on youtube/tv lol...but Angola is the one I've found to be the most interesting from the beginning of it's time.
Interesting show. My brother is in prison, this gives me some insight on how much he needs. Sometimes I think he is working me for too much money. I tell him all the time that I feel $50 a month on his books should be enough to help him, plus I provide his phone time. Birthdays and Christmas I send a lot more, and I buy him a few food boxes per year, and clothes and shoes. Thanks for the vid. I'll subscribe.
$50 a month isn't much, especially when you have to factor in cosmetics and food plus miscellaneous stuff like batteries and stamps. In the county I was in, I could spend the max $80 every week on canteen and still feel like I didn't have enough... but I also never ate chow and cooked twice a day lol
Sarah Simmons when I was locked up my pay was $7 a week for working in the kitchen. Luckily I was able to do my taxes while locked up and put that in my commissary. I easily spent $100 a week at the commissary before working in the kitchen and it went down to about $60 a week after. Because once u get a job in the kitchen you can take real food items to sell and eat. My favorite item to use as currency was sugar packets.
You are always starving on the inside, honestly something is better than nothing, and yes he should be happy he has any family sending him anything at all, tons of people in there who don't have nothing and no one, but also, 50$ isnt very much money for commissary, especially for an entire month,
Most people dont know that stamps are literally tiny bank notes. Literally. Though it's not "legal tender" it essentially acts the same. There is no difference bettween a dollar bill and a stamp, besides the amount printed on it.( and the glue)
I love how you took a negative in your life and have turned it into an entertaining and enjoyable positive as well as being educational. I hope you keep on this path and do not go back. Much love brother
Really enjoy your videos Joe. I’m a retired CO from a county jail so our system was a little different than that of what goes on at the prisons, but because our jail was really large, it was really similar. I am the type of person who really likes to gain as much information as possible on anything I can and the USA prison system has been something that has been a bit of a challenge getting decent well written primary source info on. You have definitely provided that information while having it being so entertaining. Awesome! Thanks man.
I would like to say as a person who has never been in prison that I think you are doing a wonderful things about educateing people about what goes on in a prison . Thanks for your time and help .

I’m surprised you didn’t mention dried meats like beef jerky, hot sticks, cured bacon, or even somewhat higher end spices like cayenne pepper, cinnamon, curry, garlic powder, ect...considering those items were actually used as currency before currency even existed . I understand supplies are limited, as I’ve served county time and seen the selections , but there must be some variations of these commodities. Also they meet all the right requirements of value , ie high protein or flavor enhancement, versatility to “get in the car”, and easy transport. Anyways man, love the channel! you’re a great story teller and would make a great radio/podcast host as well. You produce quality, original, entertaining content which is becoming rare on CZcams . Keep up the good work
I don't plan on ever going back to jail, Ive turned ny life around and no longer commit crimes or use drugs, but if that unfortunate day ever comes again you're videos have given me a lot of ideas. From hustles to food to make.
I made the best cup of coffee in jail... I perfected the recipe. You take two servings of the scrappy instant coffee, two cinnamon jolly ranchers and one packet of cocoa, dissolve that in the hottest water you can get, make sure and use as little water as you can, which depends on how hot the water is. A lot of places have microwaves, all we had was a toaster but you make do with what you have. Anyway, it helps to dissolve the jolly ranchers ahead of time since that takes a while, so when you're getting everything dissolved or mostly dissolved in as little hot water as you can, you need to be soaking a milk carton in hot water, or if you have actual taps on the sink instead of buttons, let hot wAter run over it. Then you put your coffee/cocoa/cinnamon jolly rancher concentrate, mix it with your hot milk, put that in a clean bottle and shake it as HARD as you can. It turns out actually REALLY good, the coffee is super bitter so the sugar from the cocoa and jolly ranchers helps, and the cinnamon is just plain good with coffee. If it's not hot enough you can microwave it, or in my case had to set it on top of the toaster and heat it that way. I was pretty "jail rich" at the time so I shared, but you can absolutely sell this stuff, Even today coffee with a cinnamon jolly rancher is good stuff.
Seriously this channel has been an active prison guide with constants updates like someone has mentioned, u make it i into an RPG game :D Keep doing good man (y)
When I was locked up I traded my food trays for ramen and coffee and whatever. Didn't eat anything they served the whole time except Sunday breakfast cereal and bagel. Lost so much weight but couldn't stomach that trash.
Not really true Tyler. Older guys seemed.to prefer trays for health and more than happy to buy them with commissary. Just gotta be savvy and don't ever owe anyone anything.
I preferred the trays, for one the trays aren't that bad, and also you can actually get full from the provided food/trays, I'm sorry but the best and most filling commissary item is ramen, and it honestly sucks, I'm hungry twenty minutes after eating a soup. Trays is the way to go. You must have only Ben locked up for the weekend, because everybody eats there tray typicaly, maybe not the first day or so, but youl get hungry
Used to serve us milk in a bag when I went to school in death valley california, also served us orange juice in a bag. Never really thought it was weird until we moved to texas and got milk in cartons at school.
I’ve ordered an online food package for a loved one incarcerated and I couldn’t believe the inflation of the prices. Cup ramen noodles were around $2.00 and I remember getting them a bag of Sweet Chili Doritos and they were like $8.00. And the “yellow bag” of Keefe coffee was $2.90. Keefe is making BANK!!!
Hey man, I just want to say I love your vids. You're such an incredibly likable guy and it's quite heartwarming to see you've really made something of yourself after prison. From what I've heard, which isn't much (but more and more thanks to your videos), it seems most convicts have a rough time with the transition, but you're actually out here hustlin'! You're truly an inspiration, and I'm literally addicted to your channel. Never stop hustlin'!
When I did my 18 months, we used to bet ramen soups in our Texas Hold Em games. I had a locker full of ramen when the screws took em all claiming "you have too many soups...it's contraban"
When I was in highschool in Holland, we watched a video of the daily eating routing of a regular bus driver. He started with a cup of coffee. Bread, etc., cup of coffee, something light, coffee, coffee, coffee. In the end it turned out he managed to drink nineteen (19) cups of coffee driving a bus in traffic all day.
The 75 cent hot pickle just might be the best bang for your buck... The pickles themselves are big enough to get 2 servings out of and the juice is one of the best marinades you're gonna get up in there
If someone in prison has no money on their books, does the prison supply them with basic hygiene items? Or if you can't afford them do you not get to take care of yourself?
I’ve never been to prison, jail or even in trouble for that matter and I don’t know anyone in prison but I find APS so interesting! I love listening to your stories! Thanks for the intriguing content Joe 😘
the reason they stack soap bars is because you can pull a string out of your mattress and saw that bar of soap in half and make a hiding spot when you hollow it out and reseal with toothpaste. when you have a huge stack of boxes of soap, they'll never search it.
Lord Knoxx your cash money is kept in the commissary account for you and yes it moves to the different facilities with you. Keeping cash money on your person is like keeping drugs on you, it's contraband.
@@emmareels943 that should be obvious. It would make you a target for being robbed, and the entire system is set up for you NOT to carry money. It's contraband.
Joe, You are absolutely correct about the prison juice. There must be something funky in that shit, cuz after release, I crapped colors I have never seen before, and my boy wouldn't stand at attention for like two years. Thankfully, that shit is temporary. But damn! After release, the first thing you wanna do is tap back from where you came from, and that's not easy to do, when you're trying to put a twizzler through a piece of wood.
That kool-aid part cracked me up! When I served in army, we sometimes used to get these puddings as dessert called in army slang "jarru" which translates to english as "brake" (meaning chemical castration). The legend says they mix something in the pudding to keep soldiers urges at bay. Old mans tales are the best, huh.
Hey the only one Mr Z if you get me a 5 things of peanut butter Starbursts and some Mike and Ike's I'll give you that AND 3 servings of the candy I'm making

Anyways man, love the channel! you’re a great story teller and would make a great radio/podcast host as well. You produce quality, original, entertaining content which is becoming rare on CZcams . Keep up the good work
Reno county jail sells top ramen for $2 a bag !! What a rip
Holyshit Sacramento county does it for 1$. They are taxing forsure
In Canada milk comes in bags...
ToroMoto and milk comes in jugs in American
pineapple or cartons
Not western Canada.
ToroMoto that's because they're fucking weird
The milkman comes to my door with glass bottles with no lid
It's my Birthday!! It's okay you don't have to believe me no one does since it's April fools day 😂😭😭

Same here, in the year 1992. If so, we're distant brother!
Sebastian Michaelis does your birthday always fall on april 1
I don't plan on ever going back to jail, Ive turned ny life around and no longer commit crimes or use drugs, but if that unfortunate day ever comes again you're videos have given me a lot of ideas. From hustles to food to make.
The only difference between a citizen and a prisoner is a citizen hasnt been caught yet.
The only difference between you and a smart person is that youre not smart.
best moments at prison
DarkMatter lol maybe.
DarkMatter Getting released
DarkMatter if those exist
DarkMatter dropping the soap
DarkMatter some of the funniest convos I've had and random shit I've seen was in prison
Lol you just made me make a cup of coffee and some Tuna! 🤣🤣
Seriously this channel has been an active prison guide with constants updates like someone has mentioned, u make it i into an RPG game :D Keep doing good man (y)
Man, I had no idea you could legit buy extra food/hygiene products in prison, I thought all you ate was what the prison served you
If you don't have any money then ya, that's all you get is what the prison provides, lol
Bradly Keep using that picture only a mattwr of time before you get caught with kiddie porn
You should do a video on the most valuable contra ban items in prison.
Jack Pacheco "contra ban" lol
Please do a tutorial on the Jolly rancher, Now & later Starburst prison candy.
Like this so Joe sees it!

Hello Philippines!! You're awesome!!!
Renz Razerro love the Philippines too bruh
Renz Razerro ..y'all got some sexy ass shemales💯👅
Hey man, I just want to say I love your vids. You're such an incredibly likable guy and it's quite heartwarming to see you've really made something of yourself after prison. From what I've heard, which isn't much (but more and more thanks to your videos), it seems most convicts have a rough time with the transition, but you're actually out here hustlin'! You're truly an inspiration, and I'm literally addicted to your channel. Never stop hustlin'!
When I did my 18 months, we used to bet ramen soups in our Texas Hold Em games. I had a locker full of ramen when the screws took em all claiming "you have too many soups...it's contraban"
geez soups up here are .99 cents in our prisons
harima it's crazy how different prices can be in different states. inflation to the fullest in prison.
Indeed
My middle school served milk in a bag....
oger lord those shits are good asfc haven't had those since elementary

oger lord so do Canadians
oger lord haven't had that since elementary i them shit were good asf
That shit was good as FUCK i dont care if its served in a bag im goin back to drink some more famz
Your eye close ups are gold and what makes your channel original.
LOL so stamps are like caps from fallout
Fr
Hunter The Based God calm down g
Great video after great video. Best youtuber there is
Grant you are awesome thank you!
Not as much as you dude, keep it up :D
Berks County in Reading PA charges $2.00 per Ramen soup.
They also take 50% of any money sent into the jail.
Wow, no cigarettes? Movies are full of bullshit
ihen89 Tobacco products were banned in prisons since 2000
Raging Demon Pro Akuma they still have tobacco circulating everywhere. Also most guards dont enforce the rule. It keeps the peace
Federal prison tobacco is banned..most state prisons still allow tobacco
They used to be.
Bagged milk isn't that bad, just ask us Canadians, look it up bagged milk is normal up here in the arctic!
I’ve never been to prison, jail or even in trouble for that matter and I don’t know anyone in prison but I find APS so interesting! I love listening to your stories! Thanks for the intriguing content Joe 😘
AfterPrisonShow keep up the good work I've been around since 50k and your channel has grown so much and its really cool to your channel expand
anyone else like 👍 Joe's videos before you watch the whole thing
I will definatly punch a guy for a honeybun
the reason they stack soap bars is because you can pull a string out of your mattress and saw that bar of soap in half and make a hiding spot when you hollow it out and reseal with toothpaste. when you have a huge stack of boxes of soap, they'll never search it.
Can you take your cash money from one prison to the next without smuggling it?
Lord Knoxx no actual cash is allowed in any us prison bc its a security risk
Lord Knoxx your cash money is kept in the commissary account for you and yes it moves to the different facilities with you. Keeping cash money on your person is like keeping drugs on you, it's contraband.
Only way to get money is to have a friend or family put it on your account, "books". Other then that your screwd lol
Cleveland Lanthrip why
@@emmareels943 that should be obvious. It would make you a target for being robbed, and the entire system is set up for you NOT to carry money. It's contraband.
I'm really scared this guy runs out of stories
Adam Al-Sharif, he will start making stories out of his head,
Adam Al-Sharif he'll go prison pimp
I really want to hear Joe yell “LETS GET RIGHT INTO THE NEWS!!!!!!”
“I got a sausage, can I get in the car?” also works in some parts of town to get in
When I used to be locked up in tdcj I used to eat peanut butter with vanilla cookies
Those really are awesome....with coffee 😍
*"sweet white girls"* 😂
BluefoxxyNautral84 10/10
BluefoxxyNautral84 you are ugly
Big Homo Joe Even is he is ugly, you can admit that those sweet white girls are looking 10/10 right now 😏
Where I was locked up, stamps were forbidden to have. So we used embossed envelopes ("lopes") as currency instead.
My classmates call me a drugdealer. The reason they call me this is because during class I sneak them Jolly Ranchers xD
you probably get this a lot but you are the real life Ricky from Trailer park Boys. and thats awesome
AwkwardTallness yeah in one video he was making ramen 10 different ways and I couldn't help but imagine Ricky like burning his hand
Is that a TV show? Movie?
M' boy its a show on Netflix.
Interesting.
I expected a "Going back to prison" video as an Aprils Fool
A honey bun or any chocolate bar is worth 2 items.
I'll take 50$ worth of hot Cheetos
the only one Mr Z hot Cheetos swap for crack bro?
Hey the only one Mr Z if you get me a 5 things of peanut butter Starbursts and some Mike and Ike's I'll give you that AND 3 servings of the candy I'm making
Chris V I’ll throw in some ramen if you give me some of that candy
"Clean as bed sheets at a hotel"
The backhanding is real, got a good laugh at that one, digging your videos, man, interesting insight into prison life. Real neat resource for my rpg sessions going forward.
*Slowly comes up to the camera* "You got any coffee?!" 👀👀😂😂😂 had me dead💀😂💀😂
How to gain respect in prison video?
I'm starting to like the "dive right into this video"
7 years ago... wow, Joe, that was about the amount of time you were locked up if my memory is correct. You've come a long ways since then. ...seems like a lifetime ago.
I've learned alot from this channel over the past few months. My uncle served about 10 years for armed robbery and he got out about a year ago, he agreed with everything you said. Its pretty real in there.
Its funny thinking about it now because he works with a friend in a pastry shop and there was an item he featured for a while called junicakes 💀💀💀
Anyway great content, much love and respect for this channel
Bro I dig the comedy!!!
Hit me up if you want some jokes
1$ / shot of coffee in Pekin, IL Prison. Alot of hypes for Keefe.
1$ soups too.
Washington state has Keefe also, atleast in county, never Ben to state. In county soups are fucking dollar a piece from commissary menu, lol
I've never heard that before, but every time I think of it I crack up laughing, ya zoom zooms and wham whams, lol
I LIVE in Illinois but i been to Pekin
How blazed is Snoop in these hockey ads?? Holy shit.
I love his slight lisp. Very cute
