    So what would the ratios (in ounces) be of the Liquitex pouring medium and paint if you were using the Liquitex basics tube paint?

    I’ve tried the Liquitex deep colours Acrylic ink pouring set, the colours are great but even when what I make looks good, when it dries, it all blends to a dark brown and the colours are not separate. I’m using a few drops of ink, is this wrong? Am I using too much ink?

    • @Citystationerygroup
      @Citystationerygroup  Před 3 lety +1

      You should be using 1 or 2 drops maximum

      You need to get your eyes checked because I can't imagine paying $15.99 for an 8oz container to make such a hideous art like in this demonstration.

      The Higher the Quality of the paint you are using the less of Pouring medium you would need.

    Wow, 10:1 sounds really high and the colours are very muddy, not a good example of a pour. By adding that much pouring medium you must be making the consistency of all the paints very similar. It's my understanding that the small differences in density are how you get the best effects, so "normalising" the paint doesn't seem a good way to go. I have some of this to try and I won't be going 10:1, especially when it costs so much. p.s. it's NOT a resin

    I had a picture by Monet and he painted a boat the blue of the sky. I drew the air blue wisping along the luff in the sail.

    That was a little painful to watch. If you're using a ratio of pouring medium that high you should always wear gloves or use something other than your hands when coming into contact with the medium, essentially it's a resin and can cause irreversible damage. Mixing each part of medium as its added to the acrylic will reduce bubbles and give better results. It also makes sense to raise the canvas off the work surface so the pouring medium doesn't dry the canvas to the table, and it'll create an opportunity to collect excess medium in a container to experiment with further. You're partly working with physics so you should ensure your surface is flat with a spirit level, otherwise the medium will eventually pour off one side.

      Dear Aeekl, Liquitex pouring medium is not resin or doesn't contain any resin. It is non toxic and it is well stipulated on the bottle. Resin is a completely different product which is made of 2 parts you need to mix together, the resin + hardener.

    • @ManicallyMellow
      @ManicallyMellow Před 4 lety

      @@Citystationerygroup There are many types of resin, not only cheaper than your pouring medium but they will also achieve a better result for this kind of project. Your medium and resin dry and set in a similar way and you'd barely tell the difference between the damage they can both cause, so it's better to use the same level of precaution. Plus if you just spent £30 on a bottle of liquitex you might want to try minimising wastage and know what quantity is needed to cover the size of the surface you're working on.

      I'm sure if you had watched the video you would realise Jimmy Leslie is the resident artist for liquitex. So I think he will know wether it was a resin or not. It's certainly a first for me to hear liquitex pouring medium being called a resin. Haha 😂 Obviously you haven't got a clue about acrylic pouring.

      @@studioartwork7762 I did watch the video and was robbed by the so called artist... Which i presume is either yourself or your wife who's come to throw a few punches. I'm sure you have just as much experience with resins as you do with pouring medium otherwise you're thick as fuck. Get a job as a technician at a university and spend several years working with almost every different medium possible, then come back and chat more shit that only offers something relevant to yourself.
