- All-shrimp food trucks are popular lunch destinations in Oahu's North Shore, but none top the island fame (and proliferation of graffiti) of Giovanni's. Host Lucas Peterson stops by to see what all the fuss is about.

This food truck changed my life as a 10 year old. It is the single best shrimp I've had in my life and the highlight of my visit to Hawaii.
the personn WHO deVeins
each n every 1 OF them SHRIMP
is THE #foodhero of this FOOD truck biz
omg haha i was just thinking that! savage
We have lots of varieties of shrimp and prawn that have white digestive lines. Not many know that you're sometimes eating the whole shrimp, cut but not de~veined.
Balochistani Tech Support foreal!!! I work at a seafood restaurant and I at least de vain like 1000 shrimp per day not exaggerating
I remembered going here every weekend while I was on active duty. It used to just be a large tent. Even got to sign the truck. That was in 2003. The spicy garlic shrimp was the BEST. The drive was worth it.
I love the way you describe food(whether you like it or not). You are the type of "food host" that viewers respond to and love watching. Cool dude!
Lucas has a delicate equilibrium so that one sleeve rolled up kept him cool in the Hawaiian climate, much like the one leg outside the blanket lol
I only recently discovered this series--around 2 days ago--and proceeded to finish watching all the videos within a day. I've been watching the playlist on repeat and was surprised to see a title I didn't recognize! LOL. Keep the videos coming!
Still one of the best food-related shows out there. Thank you Eater and Lucas!
The best. Brings back memories from active duty days. I was there when they were just a single food truck and a tent.
Probably one of the only places I've been to that's been featured on the show, and I can definitely agree that it was a great meal, with beautiful scenery all around.
Yeah I agree, amazing delicious dish, but only con would be the flies that swarm you lol.
That look on his face when trying the spicy one...omg, I have never seen Lucas with a smileless face!
I don't know why but I have developed a love for garlic recently which is weird. I had never liked garlic before! Those shrimps covered with fried garlic look awesome. I am going to try to make them myself.
Love the way you walk, Lucas...and talk.
"Do you like Garlic?"
Is that a question?
I FUCKING SMASHED THAT LIKE BUTTON!!!
Lucas trying to get a new fashion trend going with the one sleeve up. LOL! You look like you got a wee bit of sun while you were there, Lucas, and it looks great on you! That garlic is mmmmm!!!
Best shrimp on this planet my family knows how to whip it up ❗️🙌🙌🙌 Mahalo for showing the world 🌎 this amazing food 💕
ive never been jealous of a shrimp before
LilM0ney lol
I miss this place. good local food. gotta go back there when I visit again.
Finally a video about a place I've been to!
i just..... just cant stop looking at that bicep of Lucas when he had one of his sleeves up
The guy's a poser. Especially that stride he does during the start of his videos. He probably thinks he's Cary Grant or John Wayne but he actually looks like he just shat in his pants and he's walking slowly toward the toilet while the shat is crawling down his leg.
i hope you not a male.
I really need to stop watching these late at night! Now I'm hungry
this guy is the best and finds the coolest spots!
I can't believe I pressed "like" because Lucas asked if I liked garlic and I nodded my head like an idiot and said "Yes, I love garlic."
I love this guy more episodes with him
Great review! When I go to Hawaii next year, I'm going to do a bunch of food reviews.
Kamehameha way lol.
TANG you should see the Special Beam Cannon Way
All created by the Big Bang Attack.
AMHK1024 and it will all end in a Final Flash
yeah dat way
King Kamehameha existed before Dragonball.
Smacked the like button!
Bro the number 2 is the absolute best! And their Mac salad is bomb!
They say the only way to get a reply from Eater, is to say something very right but very wrong too. Ok, im giving it a try.
Pineapple on pizza is ok.
Now we wait.
Don't tell that to this guy: www.eater.com/2017/2/21/14684148/iceland-president-pineapple-pizza
[MFG] Clan Channel it worked
Eater you guys are awesome 😽❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.
i have tried it many times, it is really good. I like it especially when there is not much mozzarella on the pizza, and the prosciutto is cut thick and is a bit dry. I think the goal is to have the pineapple be the juiciest thing on the pizza. If the thing is floating on sauce or cheese i can see it tasting bad. Maybe thats how some people got the bad experience. I can control this however since i either make the pizza myself, or i order it from a good restaurant that know what they are doing, i dont really mind the price since i only order for special occasions.
Leo Lujan again, many people might have tried it and not liked it. Everyone has their own taste. Yes there are people who just jump on the bandwaggon and think they are cool because they share this sentiment, even if the never tried the food, but after all, its the internet. Everyone here has a phd in something and an uncle at the nsa, also countless experiences.
I was wondering when Lucas was gonna come by here. It wasn't a matter of "if", because giovanni's is by far the best food I ever had on Oahu! Garlic shrimp FTW
I remember eating here in 2017, the hot and spicy shrimp was delicious and boy was it hot and spicy! I loved it
Sheldon was my fave , but lucas u are starting to grow on me mate ! Aloha from australia !!! :)
I’d eat the shell too! I love shrimp& garlic on everything! Ooh i want them all
was here at the food trucks this weekend at the north shore!!!
I’ve been there. The Food is Outstanding nice open area to sit and eat your food.
What’s with the “one sleeve” lol 😂 your so funny sometimes and laid back!
i went here in sixth grade and i miss it so much
I like how all Lucas vids start off like a bangbros vid....
I ate here on my trip to Oahu.. I got to say shrimps were really good and hot !!! I had the spicy ones and they were great !!!
When I went to go see my brother I saw a lot of these shrimp trucks and I saw this one too around the less populated part of the island
That Kahuku shrimp is so fresh, Giovanni's and Romy's off Kam Highway are the best spots
Tru dat braddah!
Watching Eater is like watching Food Network. Holy shit the production quality is superb
smashed the like button 👍
Lucas, do a whole series in texas. its friggin huge and has regions you could compare/contrast
Basically all I ate when I was in Oahu. Good shit.
Been eating at Giovannis before they made the little eating area.... ohh and when they gave more shrimp and it was under 10$ a plate......
Great video thanks for the information just sub 🤙
Ugh!!! I haven't been back in years and I can taste that hot sauce! 😝😝
I actually enjoy just crunching on the shells and tail without peeling shrimp (unless they are huge). It has so much flavor and adds a crispy texture especially if the shrimp are fried. Don't be afraid! They should be cleaned already though along the back.
i've eaten at giovanni's before and it is so good. it deserves all the hype
I miss Lucas so much
Oh man, I miss this place.
This guy is actually well spoken and talks like he knows his stuff unlike other food travellers that just make facial expressions and say its so good.
I was expecting Lucas to say "Lets see what this shrimp is all about" in the beginning
I’ve been there. The garlic shrimp was oily but delicious!
Lucas you're the goat
love you lucas
I like how they serve a simple option with just lemon and butter even though the scampi ones with loads of fried garlic would be my thing. In Spain we eat them with a bit more oil, garlic and chili. Eat the sweet and spicy shrimps. Dip bread on delicious garlicky spicy oil. Nomnomnom
Lucas is the flavour profile 👑
great, now I'm hungry.:)
Lucas swagged the badass turtle-tail hairdo liked no other
an All Shrimp food truck? Private Benjamin Buford Blue approved!
So so good! Been there! The chickens are agressive probably because they have tried these shrimps!
(Check in on yelp for a free drink there)
should go to piccolo Street they have the best krillin
Smashed the like button because I like garlic.
i normally don't like it when i'm being asked to like something on youtube, but for Lucas, exceptions can be made
I miss this place
I like garlic! And sleeves too ;)
One time for Lucas eating that spicy shrimp for the culture!
Hawaii & shrimp! That's not fair maan!!!
that looks super delicious holy
1:00 - 1:07 that camera man is checking Lucas out harddd
I ship it
I'm allergic to shrimp, but that looks so good.
Love his garlic shrimp!
I used to LOVE eating shrimp as a kid, but now I have strangely grown an allergy to it! I miss eating them without ending up in rash and breath difficulty 😶
“Why does garlic taste so good?” - No Vampire Ever ... hahaha ...
if you went to Giovanni's, I assume that you went to kahuku superrette for poke?
G is good, have you tried teds up the road? North shore is dope, hope you can do an eat street episode
lucas do you plan on visiting other countries? perhaps Australia ?
wow my favourite shrimp
I'm kinda allergic to shrimp but this looks good asf.
Looks delicious
curry shrimp, fried shrimp, garlic shrimp, boiled shrimp, broiled shrimp, deep fat fried shrimp, pan fried shrimp, shrimp scampi, shrimp soup.
So there’s no butter involved when cooking the shrimp? It’s just marinated in olive oil and garlic
Then straight to the pan?
I liked the video because I like garlic xD
Giovanni's shrimp Truck is where it's AT! I went there about three years ago, and I've never forgotten that experience. The garlic seasoned shrimp is a-m-aaaaa-zing.
Reminds me of the kid in A typical
Hey Eater It'd be great if you guys included the prices along with the dishes
up
Like 11+ bucks a plate not really worth, most of the places he's been to hasn't been cheap.
yeah,That's what I thought......Dont really understand the title of the show
This is the best place in the world !!!!!
Get the garlic people!! It'll change your life! None of the other shrimp trucks compare even on other islands
seropserop wrong
was lucas an extra on Westworld? i swear i saw him in a scene
What are you talking about Lucas? "Food trucks" or lunch wagons as we call it in Hawaii has been around for at least 50 years, so I don't know where you getting your information from. It may be a new thing on the mainland but on Oahu you could find them all over the island, especially around construction sites and industrial areas where the working men and women could find an affordable and convenient place to eat.
I post in another comment, but yea Lucas trip to Hawaii has been a let down, the worst he has ever done, I don't know if he has someone else doing research or himself. Looks like no effort whatsoever was put into this trip.
Tama Toa don't flatter yourself. lunch carts and wagons and whatever you want to call them - food in wheels- have been popular all over the country since industrialization. the hipster term "food truck" is new, but not the concept.
You are correct about lunch wagons being a part of growing up in the old days. My uncle owned one back in the early 60's. I've eaten a lot of plate lunches with my wife when we were going to the University of Hawaii back in the early 70's. Our favorite was the beef curry plate. Sitting on the grass sharing a plate in the gentle breeze is among our fondest memories. The heyday of the lunch wagon in Hawaii is pretty much over - probably due to the amazing amount of eateries available to the hungry.
"Dining on a Dime" but goes to an expensive food truck. Giovanni's is still fire tho
I love love love garlic
Hawaii had the first food trucks. It was called the manapua man. Found in the hoods of Hawaii.
i remember this place, the only drink I had was water, took me 1 ball of rice to get rid of the spicy...
Sadly didn't see this in my box, but better late than never! With garlic, butter, lemon, salt, pepper, and ginger, simple food can sure become blissful. Lucas signed the truck with 2016 - are these pre-filmed from last year?
We shoot our entire season in about 5 days. Thanks for watching!
So, how many months worth of content did you get out of hawaii trip?
Smashed!
First time I watched this, my mouth started watering when he ate the spicy shrimp I went to a restaurant in Meridian Mississippi, and was sadly disappointed, it was not spicy at all and that was the hotest on there menu, & guess I would rather not say to save faces, or franchise's but, you know who you are! Lol!
this the same truck Action and his cronies hit up when they were there?
Shit I remember coming here the first time I went to Hawaii. The lemon butter garlic shrimp was so one note and honestly not worth the hype
