I love how lucas always has unbiased reviews. When he didn't like the gizzards he didn't pretend that he did. Instead just told us that he didn't like it. Wish there were more food reviewers like him
kkawesome1234 Even when he didn't like it, he didn't try to correct them of their recipe or decision to have it on the menu. He agrees that it's not his type. What a nice lad!
kkawesome1234 I won't touch gizzards ever
Very true I also like that he doesn't over exaggerate when he likes something, in fact more than often in his videos I get the impression that he's just there eating and going 'meh, this is ok'.. I have yet to see a video where goes overboard with praises.
@@so1idify OMG. Gizzards are my #1 Favorite part of yard bird. I love that it's chewy, the flavor is just so good. You are missing out.
And BTW that man was very diplomatic and professional in his answer to why they aren't the same joint anymore.
For sure, It is well known here in Seattle that it was a bitter falling out... Ezel was forced to change the name of his split locations; He chose "Heaven sent chicken", since he's also deeply religious. The irony is that after the legal dispute, Ezel lost the branding for his own name. The two are virtually identical, if anyone knows the difference, please illuminate me.
A little more of this, a little less of that; just enough to avoid legal claims of copying the recipe that Ezell Stephens lost the rights to. I've never done a side-by-side tasting, but I doubt there's much difference from a practical standpoint.
Aeoster I mean ya he could have just slandered the shit out of it but he was very professional in his explanation.
SeikiBrian was the falling out very public? im from renton and love ezells but didnt know about the story
Babyfart Mcgee-zax I don't known how public it was; I knew about it because Ezell posted a notice about the reason for the name change at the locations he kept. The way I heard it was that he gave his wife and her brother 1/3 each of the company and kept 1/3 for himself, then after a few years the marriage ended and he got "voted out" of the company he founded. Others say it was because the partners couldn't agree on expansion plans and company direction, etc. Whatever the true reason, it's sad when someone loses the right to use his own name for a business he runs. Since Ezell doesn't own or operate "Ezell's" anymore, I won't go there; I only go to "Heaven Sent."
You guys this is Lucas Peterson, host of Dining on a Dime. I'd just like to say thank you as always for watching, I love you all very much, and I swear to you that I do actually know what a chicken gizzard is. Thanks for tuning in and we'll see you next week for another great Seattle episode!! XXOXOXOOOOXOXXOOOoooxoxxxxXX
team white meat!
Lucas Peterson
Lucas Peterson
Lucas Peterson So you were acting like you didn't know what a gizzard is? Why?
Lucas Peterson why this channel got trolls who hurt u
Dark meat, the legs and thighs are the best. Anybody agrees with me.
Team dark here. Surprised at Lucas' preference but hey, more for us.
King Bladwin IV anything close to the bone
I agree, however I also think that breast can be amazing if it is prepared correctly.
No matter anyone else agrees, as you're eating it and you like it. Enjoy.
I feel like the leg is too small, the thigh is my favorite, but also the breast. When the breast is right out the fryer, the slightly dry part of the white meat becomes amazingly juicy and mixes very well.
Fried chicken is a gate way drug, it is life.
That guy is basically Gus Fring.
haha exactly my thoughts
BB should be back
akash jhamnani except for the fact that it won't!
yea pretty sure they split because the partner found out about the drug empire behind this franchise.
Umm okay. He is nothing like Fring except that he's black, but I guess that's what you meant anyway.
I like how Lucas was honest about not liking the gizzards, without being disrespectful about it. You can't like every food item out there, some things are hit or miss.
The sound of the crispness from the fried chicken is orgasmic to my ears 👌🏻
Damn youre like the most calm and gentle eating channel host ive ever seen
Lucas seems more interested in the story than the chicken. That makes him shady and I love it.
I love that you're doing this in Seattle Lucas! I live in Oregon and only been there once, but didn't get the chance to try anything out, so this food diary that you have on Eater will act as my guide next time :D Thanks!
Another great installment! Eater, any chance of captioning these? I know plenty of deaf and hard of hearing folks who would enjoy them, and I've got some slight audio processing issues myself.
Colin we'll jump right on captioning them ASAP! We apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for watching!
+Eater thanks very much! I know it takes a bit of work, but it's a huge gain for accessibility.
Eater 3 weeks and still no official captions.
Auto-captions were surprisingly accurate.
dn Thank Lucas' very straightforward accent
I got really excited when he mentioned the Dubai branch. I googled it hoping to visit it tomorrow. It turned out to be in Sharjah (close enough) and it went out of business last year :-( the reviews are all great but they all mention that the place is empty most of the times. They probably failed to market it properly. Bummer.
Lucas your honesty & good reviews are greatly appreciated👍
it doesnt seem like he is enjoying as much he hyped in the begining
I've been having chicken on a daily basis (because I'm in a muslim country, and it's mostly the common protein), so one can easily get bored with chicken dishes. but seeing this makes me want to eat fried chicken.
whip up some mild sauce (mumba sauce) to throw on some of your chicken. best topping for all chickens. can't go wrong with smothered baked chicken thighs (pbj cooking show on CZcams )
"all my Dining on a Dime-heads from season 1..."
WRONG
we're called Dimebags, Lucas.
Dimebags.
Hahahahah that's the perfect name for the clan
I always wondered how Eater manages to create content with little subscribers and low view count, then realizing they get sponsored by Toyota.
It's because Lucas is awesome. :D
My guess was that it's because they're a magazine first.
These are actually lifelike drawings and animations. We work around the clock and feed off of YT comments to sustain ourselves. It's challenging work, but we're just sea monkeys working in a fishbowl so we can't complain.
Eater offices are probably in a state where weed is legal #justsaying
Lucas I see, Like I press, Simple man I am.
but you're a woman
this is the internet, youll never know who's behind that screen
A youtube account with Nagisa Shibuya's pic, pretty sure it's a guy
if ur avatar is of a lady, your a lady
That's crazy to hear they grew up in Marshall, TX! I grew up 30 minutes away and I'm happy to see when people actually leave small places like that and do cool stuff
always have time for lucas' presentations, the story behind the chicken is a bonus.
Yes, finally Seattle (my second home away from Toronto XD). I've been to Ezell's but not a huge fan, though, I had to go somewhere else to eat it due to limited seating and all. Maybe I took too long to eat it. I didn't get that "seasoned to the bone" taste though.
I think it depends on the location. When they started making franchises you can tell people stop seasoning it like the owners reduce the seasoning on the chicken now it tastes commercialized. They messed it up
Never watch Dining on a dime before you sleep.
Yep...your pillow will look like you leaked corn syrup in your sleep and the teeth marks are hard to explain.
dammit...it's 2am...It's about to go down in my kitchen.
a touch too late, my friend
we sure love chicken in Dubai....damn right!!
i always order my fried chicken with an extra side of chromosomes
You also love isis
Thank you come again, in Indian accent
So dope that you came here to Seattle!!!

The only thing I saw from the whole video...🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
4:04 she got hickeys
lol
Bathtub Shark wow hickey is not important. Food is 😂
or maybe her bf is chris brown who knows
why does this matter in the least bit?
I could listen to Lucas talk about food allll day!
I went to high school across the street. We ate a lot of chicken in the park, too - we called it Acid Trip Park. They would always throw in an extra biscuit. MMM! Bottle of Faygo, couple pieces of spicy dark meat. Bomb. Shout out to the Garfield security staff. You guys made skipping class and eating chicken even funner.
Lucas always has this just woke up vibe and i love it
Definitely the best fried chicken I’ve ever had, went here way too many times after school when I was young
Lucas you seem like a generous lover
Darnell is a friend of mine. Great dude! Lewis is a great guy, too. Met him a couple times. Big fan of the food and the small business/family feel
I grew up on a farm and when i tell you nothing goes to waste i mean it...from the rooter to the tooter. However, it seems like they really don't know gizzards. When my Grandma made em she always trimmed the membranes and that piece of ligament on the underside. Then would run a tenderizer tool (has a bunch of little sharp razors) over it...then soak in buttermilk, double dredge, then fry. You could eat em even if you had no teeth...wel, like my grandfather.
For lunch i went to that exact location for the first time and louis was my cashier and i was short 3 dollars but he trusted me that i would pay him back the next day, so hes an chill friendly guy even though the food is alright
Holy shit, customer doesn't know what a gizzard is (it's the grinding stomach of birds, it's filled with small stones and sand and it substitutes the teeth), and cooks don't clean the damn gizzards (you have to remove the extremely tough and rubbery silver skin, plus removing the semi-digested chicken food inside).
Exactly right and you need to tenderize them too before frying. They aren't supposed to be rubbery and tough when done right. Pressure cooking them with lots of flavoring until they are tender, then better and fry.
And it taste good o3o
Tokyo needs about ten of these places pronto. They'd be more popular than ramen, more popular than drinking, more popular than anything. There is *no* good American fried chicken in Tokyo as I write this. Will they license the name to me? I'll open them in Tokyo. This is an opportunity.
My friends had an apt a block away from here. It was nice going over to visit. One of em lived for like 6months off Ezells and pancake mix. Never thought about it, but maybe he was just tryna make chicken and waffles all the time.
Lucas, next time you're in Seattle, try Quick Pack Food Mart. It's a corner shop on MLK Jr. Way S & S Jackson St, a few blocks south of Ezell's, they have these amazing fried chicken that rivals that of Ezell's.
let's get eater 1M subs! love this show!esp lucas! 💟
I live in Seattle, I can't believe I've never heard of this place before. It seems like chicken heaven! ;(
I saw you on Westworld, how did you land that? Love your videos btw, big fan!
I love this resturaunts food so much! I actually came across Ezelle actually in a similar restaurant called Heaven Sent's Chicken
is it any good?
Yes, it is amazing!
@@user-ny7vz9fh5yreally good!
I have to say this is one of the only clearly sponsored shows by a car company I don't mind because the production value is fantastic.
They went to my old neighborhood :) i loved having ezells there as a treat
Lucas getting all close up to the camera today being super cute and then saying things like "white meat is more pleasing" & "I love a good sweat" got me feeling things. 😍😍
4:14
That guys hair got Rekt 😂😂😂
Just some info, gizzards are the thick muscle of the chicken's stomach that are involved in essentially grinding their food. So they're not really just any organ. They're chewy because the amount of work that they do in aiding the chicken's digestion.
I drop by there every week, probably one of the best fried chicken I have ever had.
My high school is across the street, this street C D. I always go there for lunch.
can lucas get fired?
Nope!
Lucas is cool
Thank God. I love Lucas. And Dining on a Dime. Don't ever dare change the host. haha
Lucas is cool as fuck
Mamadollskie You haven't seen Nick Solares
Los pollos Hermanos... This is the impression from the owner gentleman. Will go and try for sure XD
My fav part is the crispy crunch it's soooo good
This made me so hungry
it's 4am in the morning and I'm hungry AF seeing this
I LOVE ezells. Soooo good!!
That crunch sound tho!!!!
Where in Dubai? I'm going now. Anyone knows where exactly ?
Google is made for this kind of stuff.
It opened in Sharjah which is another Emirate in the UAE. All info seems to point to it being closed at the moment though.
I googled and found nothing, not even in their website :(
Ask your government.
Last time I was this early, lucas was still chewing his gizzards
That crunch. 👍
Tosh T @5.05
I love fried chicken n I loved cookin it too. I'm from NC n love frying chicken n making biscuits

Flight attendants and passengers began to ask if they could purchase chicken on the flight😂😂😂😂
of course I said
YES😊
👉 $9 wing & leg
👉$9 wing & thigh
👉$7 for a breast ( Not one person said No)
I had so much fun took pics with everyone and made a ton of new mates😘smooches
that story reminded me of the two coney island hot dog places in detroit
What kind of camera was this shot with? Quality looks great.
We shoot on Canon C100. Thanks for watching!
Awesome! Can't wait to visit Seattle during XMAS. Watching your Seattle videos to incorporate into an open itinerary!
Gizzards are a chicken's teeth. They eat whole grains & swallow them. If you've ever seen chickens flocking around in a yard, they are constantly picking up little pebbles & swallowing them. The gizzard is a muscle group that uses the pebbles to grind up the whole grains so the chicken can metabolize them. It is located before the stomach. It is tough because of the ligaments that the muscles use in stead of bones to work at the food. I've never found a pebble in a gizzard, so I don't know that part of the story.
Was Lucas in Westworld?
Yes.
I always went here after going to the dentist, it's too good
You really missed out when you did not order potato salad! It's better than anybody else's homemade LOL
For fried chicken and chicken salad or something plain, I'd stick to white meat but, for a European stew or an Indian spiced stew definitely dark meat ...
The best part of fried chicken is the drum stick tho
It's crazy Ezell got robbed for his name now he had to open up heaven sent imagine that
White meat followed by gizzards...You have the authority to say anything about chicken. You rock Lucas!
This is 2016, us hipsters don't approve of the words "corporate" and "shareholders". Pass on this fried chicken.
That chewy rubbery thing is a chicken's stomach, Lucas!
I want to be like Lucas when I grown, travel around and eat delicious food.
If only I weren't most likely older than him...
There’s no bones on gizzards..lol They’ve been my favorite since I was a little kid. So good..Omg’sh 🌷🤗🦋
Jeana 715 whites don’t eat that lol loser
Lucas I am green with food envy. I'm straight up getting fried chicken this evening that won't even be half as good as what you're eating. #StrugglesOfaHangryGirl#
Liking this simply because there's chicken gizzards :) They taste so good if cooked right.
gizard is an organ in aves, or in daily language, in birds. Mammals don't have it.
In many parts of the world you can find it anywhere, usually also sold with the liver.
Unlike the liver, the gizzard is more chewy. I can't really give comparison of the texture, but it feels like combination of squid meat + dark meat in chicken. so it is quiet tough. But it's damn good IMO.
Similar with the texture with the gizzard is the heart. Almost all animal's heart that I have ever eaten have these same texture. Tough chewy muscles I guess?
Their branch is in Sharjah, next to Dubai. Unfortunately it's closed down.
Just had Ezells gizzards the other day they were great!
Ezells chicken hasn't been the same since the owner sold his company. the rolls were so good!
