Brand New!! CNG Peterbilt 520 McNeilus Contender FL Garbage Truck!

Here is 6051! The second 2023 520 Contender to be in service at the end of 2023. I have a video on 6050 that I’ll get to uploading in the coming months. I’m liking these new 520s with the sorta eyebrow on the top headlight bezels. Adds some detail to the 520s for sure. This truck as well as 6050 have the 6 leds in each amber light on them unlike 6048 & 6049 with the 10 leds in each light. All of the mentioned trucks though are all the same 28 cubic yard body’s with the McNeilus Atlantic series cab shields and thin tailgates. Which I’m not a fan of paired with the contender body. Unsure why pride orders them this way and not just go for Atlantic series body’s. Oh well.
One weird distinctive difference I notice with this truck is the reverse alarm. Sounds normal for the first few seconds and then shuts off like a normal one would, and then turn back on and stays on and kind of goes into a different tone and back to the higher pitch, but is one continuous sound. Unlike the normal reverse alarms that are a beep beep beep and so on. This one is more of a beep beeeeeeeeeeeeeeep etc. I didn’t like it at first, but I kind of got used to it.

I’d like to give a big thanks to DW for allowing me to film him on his night routes in Tigard. 6051 started service in late October 2023 and I collected footage over the next few weeks to months since Tigard was getting some nasty weather in November/December. Filming continued into 2024 with my last clip, the second to last in the video, being from February 13th 2024. And in that most recent clip you can tell the reverse alarm to me in person, sounded like it was dying at the lower tone of the high pitch one sound alarm. dont know if that’s intentional or what but definitely sounds not the same from the rest of the video. With that being said enjoy the video and thanks to DW once again!

I thought so too but the McNeilus plaque on the left side of the body says 28 cubic yard
