People around the world aren't getting the irony of us saying "it's coming home". We know England have been terrible, no one ever believed they would win and then during the last world cup they surprisingly started to do well and the "it's coming home" meme just caught on. It's just a bit of fun and a tongue in cheek statement, not the whole of England thinking they are the best team in the world.
Also no offence, but supporting a world class national football team that isn't your actual home country and then thinking you have bragging rights about them isn't a good look either... so i'll happily take England's one WC win over that.
More than that too, in some instances, the song is a message about our genuine hope of winning. "30 years of hurt, never stopped me dreaming"
England are one of the Top nations. We are not bad AT ALL, we just don't live up to our potential.

I mean... it was also (in fact mainly) a reference to the fact that the '96 Euro was being hosted by England. So football was literally coming home. Then later it took on the other meaning.

So three lions as you can see is the teams logo but its their logo because the lion is the national animal of England and there are three lions on the Royal standard flag.
Three lions is england national team nickname. Like germany call die manchaft (the national team) or der panzer (the panzer). Italia national team nickname is gli azzuri menaning the blues and frnace national team called le blue same meaning is the blues because their home jersey is blue colour
