  • This video shows you how to replace the key fob of a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe. Specifically for the original key fobs that are glued shut and can’t easily be opened. It took me over an hour just open the old key fob

This is the most realistic video that I found. I started watching about halfway into the destruction of my old key fob and thought that I had to be missing something. But nope. Stupid glue. And thanks for helping me through the second half of the destruction of my old key fob lol

Shaving down the plastic on the inside with a Dremmel made the key flip work function work perfectly. I was losing my mind trying to figure out why all three of the replacement fobs we've tried wouldn't work. Thank you!

Inside where? on the raised portion the spring clips in to? On the flat portion outside of that circle where the key rubs against the plastic? Thanks

I replaced 2 fogs for a 2013 Santafe and it was easy as hell. When transfered I dud not transfer the key dectetor chip to the new case, not shown in these videos, so the key would not start my car. i could only remote start. Puzzeled I looked in the old case and saw a small white cover chip had not been transfered. Did the transfer & voila my flip key now works.

Very helpfull. I also struggled with opening the original key fob. But just made the point of my knife very hot and went along the glue lines then it opened

Omg this video helped me out a lot… tyvm!! However I tried the shaving part because my key was sticking and the shaving didn’t work… “But this is still by far the best detailed video and I agree it takes a while to do NOT a 10 min jobs 😂 and with the all the $$ you saved me I can work with the key sticking 😊”

Mine was super hard to open had to use your method. I did see glue like residue on mine maybe that’s why it was so hard. I also had the same problem when pressing the button it was getting stuck. Thank you for the tip of shaving off the excess plastic. Great video

I' did it too and yes... it was tricky.... i use another tools to make it easier to open it... but the pin to swivel the key did not fit on my real old key, so i had to use the old pin that fits correctly on the key hole. thanks for your video

Just finished doing a Canadian 2014 Santa Fe, you have to transfer over the transponder chip as well as the circuit board. Was amazingly hard to get apart, key did not fit into new shell properly, had to file down ever so gently, looks awesome! (don't recommend DIYing)

You do know that the key fob has a second screw hidden under the peel-off Hyundai logo?
