  • My hyundai i40 flip key was not flipping in anymore. So I bought a ney key cover from ebay, watched some movies on youtube and I sow it was easy so I have proceeded to replace the cover.
    It seems that mine was different as all the youtube movies were saying it will pop open ease. Mine didn't want to open at all so I had to brute force it open.
    I am showing you all the process.

    For those interested in who I am you can find below a short presentation.
    My name is Daniel, I am an electronic engineer who started from some time to work with wood. Wood was a passion of mine since my childhood when I grew with my uncle who was a woodworker.
    When I was about 35 I bought a CNC machine and made several things with it.
    Working with wood I needed some cutting tools so I had to buy hand planes and chisels. They needed to be sharpened so I have discovered whetstones and I have another passion now: sharpening. I like sharpening and I discover how relaxing is to sharpen a kitchen knife. I am not a specialist, I am a self though from what I read and from other people movies.
    On my channel you can find movies with what I do in my workshop: sharpening, some woodworking, repairing things and whatever I have to do and I consider it might be interesting for you.
    I am sure that you don’t like all my movies. There is no problem, it is normal. :) If you would like to tell me your opinions please be civilized. :) But I hope that you like them at list 99.99%. :)
    Thank you for watching and as I already told you in the movie please support me with a like, comment, share, subscribe, etc. Any of them are important to me.

    Thank you for the video. I saw several before yours, where they just popped open with pliers. But I almost destroyed mine doing this. So when I searched further, and found your video with a successful outcome, I realised I could go gang busters to free the contents. Anyway got it all out and fitted new fob. Works a treat!!!

      Same with me. Before I started I have watched some videos and in most of them, the process was super easy. Mine was not easy at all.

    I have the car key to i20 2017. They buttons are different. They aren’t rubber. They are made from a similar material, hard plastic, to the body of the body of the key.
    I dropped it once and the middle button (that unlocks the doors) has come off but it seems it’s not broken. However, I can’t figure out how to put it back into place. It seems it should be done just by pushing it into its place but no matter how much I press on it, it doesn’t click back into its place.
    Do you think I should open it?

    Can anyone tell me how to find the internal circuit (green board)? mine got damaged

    • @DanielWorkshop
      @DanielWorkshop  Před rokem +1

      Complicated as the board has a code. In Romania there are companies that can sell new one or with the dealer.

    • @victorino281
      @victorino281 Před rokem +1

      @@DanielWorkshopI keep the code and also have the person who can code it for me, the problem is really finding the exact same board with those circuits for that key

      I lost one of my Opel key and order another one with the dealer. It was not cheap but I got it.

    WHERE DO YOU PUT THE GLUE WHEN PUTTING IT BACK TOGETHER.? 😮

    • @DanielWorkshop
      @DanielWorkshop  Před 4 lety +1

      The new one had a very simple system to put it back together. It has a screw on the back that keeps everything in place. No need to use glue.

  • @graywoulf
    @graywoulf Před 4 lety +4

    So, I am laughing my ass off at the end when you find that there was one screw in the back under the logo insert that would have saved you all of that trouble. I figured you were going to totally destroy the fob and the circuit board and chip inside. You didn't even show if it still worked after all of that so I have to ask... did it? And you shouldn't be allowed to play with sharp objects.

    • @DanielWorkshop
      @DanielWorkshop  Před 4 lety +6

      I am happy you enjoyed it. The screw was only in the new cover. The original one didn't have any screws at all. This was the 3rd key that I change the cover. All the others were done in 2-5 minutes and just popped out. This one was glued together. :) To your surprise the key works like a charm. Sharp objects are my friends. I learn how to tame them. :)

    • @graywoulf
      @graywoulf Před 4 lety +3

      Glued together... really? Wow, no wonder you had to destroy it to get it open. Good to know that then and I am glad it all worked out in the end. I am considering replacing my remote fob. At least I will know what to look for as far as the screw but if there isn't one... I'll get my saw out. :^) Thanks for the entertainment and education.

      Mine didn't have the chip either and that was for the 2 key sets that I have. I think that's because it's the SE model. The Sport and limited need the chip to turn the car on, but the SE doesn't.
